It's a collaboration, obviously... Grrr, I hate sharing credit, though the value of artwork does often increases after the death of the artist(s). Maybe I'll give them all the credit and take all the profit!

Could you possibly touch it up with some sooty spots, giving the appearance that the carnage may have been the result of some fiery holocaust? After that definitely the clear coat. You'd have created an art object, left a dire warning, and even left little hints about your personality. You did get the one with her stretched out on the piano, I hope? Oooh, I do like your mash-up of ideas. Do you mean this picture?... Do you think Mr. Bridges maybe just got bit by a Mosquito? I don't think I'd have noticed under the circumstances.

Dresden Ceriano wrote: Paint over them... somehow, the thought of you having corpses in your basement just seems rather appropriate. ...Dres (Either that or scrape them off and fix them for breakfast.) There are lots of corpses on the floor the bottom of the stairwell, some of them from worms! Until I get around to painting the floor, I can use those for breakfast. Thanks for the idea, Dres!
  4. Teagan Tobias wrote: I would say paint over them. This could be a never ending story. Paint over them, more get caught in the fresh paint, paint over them, more get caught in the fresh paint... Okay, I guess I'll need more paint! The story has to end sometime though, the stairwell is only three feet wide. I'm small, but eventually it'll be too narrow to use.

Not only might it provide insulatoin value, but it may serve as a warning to other mosiquitoes who venture in that their kind is not tolerated there and they'll turn tail and run. Ooooh, I love leaving warnings.

  10. Happy Friday, Kids!!! Hot and muggy here, and the mosquitoes are just killer...
  11. Hi, Kids!!! A few days ago, I painted the stairwell that goes from my basement to my garage with stinky basement waterproofing paint. I went to bed happy with the results, but awoke to discover that about a kabillion mosquitoes apparently found the odor to be either an aphrodisiac or the equivalent of that smell that makes me hungry whenever I ride my bicycle downwind of a chinese restaurant. Now my pristine basement wall is covered with crispy li'l corpses, all firmly stuck in the paint, some of them in compromising positions. This wall sweats in the summertime because the below-grade wall is cooler than the dew point on hot muggy days. I had thought about insulating it to minimize the condensation, but I ultimately decided to just paint it. Now I'm wondering if I might be able to use the bug bodies as insulation! I've Googled things like... insect insulation mosquito R value Michelle Pfeiffer (images) accidental paint additives ...and found nothing helpful. I'd have asked this question here earlier in the week, but I recall that Friday was the best time to get cogent, helpful answers. So, what do you think? Do I scrub the wall clean before applying the finish coat, or do I paint right over them? I'll check back for answers after I've finished sorting my Pfeiffer image collection into decades. Thanks in advance!!! Maddy

Oooh, thanks for that etiology, Peter! I got in a lot of hot water with the captain of my college sailing club's boat because I refused to use nautical terminology. I called a bunch of stuff on the boat "stuff", just to annoy him. That I was successful beyond my wildest dreams might prove that he didn't know his nautical lingo as well as he thought!

If not owning a TV has a downside, missing Red Green is it. I loved watching Red and the gang on my ex hubby's li'l TV in the bedroom. This may explain why we had no children. And why I may never again feel comfortable around a forest ranger. ;-)

Qie, another forumite brought to my attention your use of the word "stuff". I can't resist... I still remember hearing this routine back in the 80s. My wife and I were watching in the living room on the television, laughing so hard tears were rolling. Just as the routine has finished up, our 5-year-old daughter walks into the room from another part of the house and informs us that she needs a purse, "to put her stuff in." She thought we were crazy when all we did was burst out laughing... Oh yes, and I think Qie had Carlin's sketch in mind as he replied to xIITaylorIIx. I heard a few episodes of the old radio show "Fibber McGee" and loved imagining his overstuffed closet. Here in SL, I'm known for keeping a backhoe in my closet (inventory) to help me dig out all my stuff. When I'm in the mood, I'll put odd stuff in my RL purse, just so I can pull it out in front of people to find the stuff I'm looking for. Oh, I do miss George. ETA: I'm still smiling over the story of your daughter.

Thank you Coby...great explanation and I learn well with "visuals." For the reason you stated above, I won't be using the Outfit feature. Because I participate in a variety of sim themes and have clothes specific to each, the ability to group outfits under sub-categories is VERY important to me. If I'm going dancing, I don't have to look through all my dresses, only those in the "Ballroom Gown" category, etc. Czari, you can achieve what you want by naming the outfits appropriately. I prepend my outfit names with category names. So I've got outfits that start with "Dancing-...", "Casual-...", "Nefarious-...", etc. That makes it fairly easy to find an outfit. The benefits of outfits make it worth that extra effort for me.

I live outside a smallish town, and have been here almost my entire life. It's nice to walk into a place and hear "Maddy!", even if it's in anger ;-) It's pretty neat that a group of you migrated from TSO to SL. I've left behind many circles of friends as I've switched venues over the years. It was pretty cool to migrate over with a lot of friendly faces. We became pretty close in TSO and it just got better here. Most of us have since parted ways somewhat, but not entirely. Fond memories. I think everyone likes having at least some place outside of home, that's familiar and friendly. I was going to post this video instead, so I'll share it as well. The song is just as fitting for me in sl as it is in rl. Problems or not, sl is a pretty beautiful world and I like it a lot The pictures are part of a two year environmental study my kids are taking part in. There are some interesting ideas in that video, Tari. Why do we find nature beautiful? Dennis Dutton gave a compelling TED talk about the theory of beauty. In it he theorizes that we find beauty in certainly natural landscapes because of the safety and opportunity they've provided throughout our evolution. Across the world, even in climates where such scenes do not exist, people will pick from a group of landscape images those which have lush vegetation (food), streams (water), climbable trees (to escape predators), worn paths (social opportunity) etc. One could imagine an evolutionary benefit in being able to quickly "feel" an environment's risk/reward ratio. We call that feeling... beauty. Angels playing with polar bears? Angels playing with babies? I'm either making the argument that Huskies are angels, or that play is important...

I don't blame you a list of delightful men would be far more fun that being on her spanking list OR her nakie statue.. you know she is bad lol I know a few of you feisty redheads, don't change your haircolor Oh don't worry about the hair color change. *Grins* In fact, on the what do you never change thread that is what I wrote, except there was the time I went to a Baroque Ball and did wear a powdered wig but that covered my red hair. *Nods solemnly* All this talk of spanking and naked statues is concerning me a bit. Knew there was a reason I stayed parked in my skyhome. Can I ask what happens when you spank a red head. I keep hearing that no one has ever lived to talk about it. I had her bent over the island in our SL kitchen, and drove home the unfathomable humiliation by observing that her BS in chemistry and years as a forensic pathologist had brought her to this. Never mind that my BS in engineering and years in high tech had brought me to much the same place. It was still a win for engineering over chemistry. And I'm still alive. I would like to clarify that Maddy is not talking about me. Oh, I didn't make that abundantly clear, did I? Though, the fact that I am still alive is probably all the proof anyone needs that it wasn't you.
