Recently called a **bleep** because I didn't see an IM, and even with an auto response because I'm often in photoshop, he still got verbally abusive. Helping a newb is like putting my head in a vitamix. I used to try but had problems. On guy reported me for a total lie and I almost lost my account. They have no sense that second life is a community with standard of living and behavior. I still help n00bs. I understand you didn't intend to make such a broad statement in the end because 'they' include those who *do* have standards of living and behavior.

Doesn't matter. You're talking minutes. Once something seems awry, check the Grid Status page. By the time they finished typing the WOT, the notice would have been posted. Then wait for the 'resolved' post: [Resolved 6:53 AM PDT, 02 July 2015] This morning’s unscheduled maintenance has been completed.
  3. As Kelly has posted above, always check the Grid Status on your Dashboard before tossing your hands in the air and giving up. Maintenance happens. Things happen. It's unfortunate that this occurred to you as a new premium member. I have owned a Linden Home in the past and all went well. Hang in there.
  4. I love n00bs. There was a time when the typing animation was thought to be too n00bish (i.e, if you typed in the air you were definitely a n00b) however it's come full circle and now there are all sorts of typing animations available because some see the utility of enabling someone to tell when they are chatting in local. I have one that rezzes a bong when I type.
  5. I don't 'think' that I am a member of an exclusive club, I *know* that I am! How does one distinguish a real biologist from the University of Washington and an unreal biologist from the same institution? If you would like a career in politics what is stopping you from pursuing it right now?
  6. I missed this comment. I am so happy for you, Dres, and all others who will now be able to benefit from the recent Supreme Court ruling.

It isn't just neo-nazi's that want blacks wiped out.. many southerners believe this country would be 1000 times better without them. If by 'many' you mean even 50.1% you would be wrong. One thousand times better? No. Do you write from the perspective of someone raised in the South? Living in the South? The South of 2015 is not the South of 1915 or even 1995. Don't let your hyperbole get the better of you. I said many, not majority. And yes, those that feel this way do believe it would be 100 times better. I am speaking from the perspective of someone who has dozens of family members living in various southern states. All of them have spoken of some of their neighbors who think we would be better off without blacks in the US. I'm not throwing out percentages here. That would be foolish. But even 1% is far too many. The last US census put the population of the south at 114,600,000 people. 1% of that number is 1,146,000. Is a million people "many"? Many is not a hyperbole. The 1000 was a typo i missed. it's easy to hit an extra 0. Thanks for clearing up the 1000x v 100x since, even then, 100x would be 'completely and unequivocally better'. Interesting, too, that your 'family members living in various southern states' speak of their neighbors who think we would be better off w/out blacks. My mother was native N.C. and, when I asked her if she thought that she'd ever felt prejudice toward blacks, she responded 'yes'. She did not feel that way at the time that I asked her but she was in touch with her feelings from decades earlier and honest with me.

It irks you that sim owners set rules for entry? Excessive scripts affect everyone's experience. I guess your choice is to avoid those sims or get over your 'irk'.
  13. You must be special. My list has not changed and, yes, there are names and objects on it.
  14. There is a tutorial notecard that the maker included in the pack you purchased. Did you read it?

Although I've been playing SL for a while, I've always wondered...how does one get a job on there? I've been doing lots of little things here and there to earn some lindens, but I heard some jobs can pay better, I'm looking to find one that's fairly easy, pays decent. I know sometimes most places are looking for females? I can confirm that I am one, I can't voice chat (family is always so loud) but I suppose my YouTube can confirm that lol So, does anyone have any tips to give this old newbie? What is 'decent'?

It shrank to the minimial size, I didn't touch it, it did it completely by itself. Any ideas why this happened? Had it been raining in the first sim, and hot in the next one? Joe /Things tend to shrink when they dry out quickly. //Venus, you ARE rude, asking for a picture of an erection, and it wouldn't be allowed here anyway! Actually, I just wanted to see if the OP would identify it as an erection. *snorts
  17. Vaase wrote: Well. I was able to resize it back. What do you mean graphics could have pulled a fast one on me? I meant that what you think you saw wasn't exactly what it looked like.
  18. What was the item? Can you post a photo? Chances are it did not stretch but, rather, your graphics pulled a fast one on you.
  19. Here is some information you can review to come up to speed on mesh bodies: http://meshbodyaddicts.com/ There is no MP setting for male or female. In the search box at the top, enter 'men' or 'women' as one of your search parameters.
  20. My avie is not as old as yours but I recall many off the oddball goofy things that could make life in SL, at least temporarily, funny. Crossed-eyes, detached hair up yo ass on TP, the avie body doubled over backwards, and losing random items of clothing. I do not experience any of the issues you relate right now. Read the suggestions already provided and see where you might make changes on your end to improve your SL experience. Good luck.
  21. Sin Ying wrote: I have the feeling calling that section 'Answers' encourages that too, it might sound too...philosophical, metaphysical, intimidating to many people, maybe 'Questions? Click here!" would work better, making that section the default landing page instead of the Blogs section too. On the other hand, if the unbanning doesn´t work, and the friend takes it personally, then this might soon be the right forum. Oh we tried to convince the Community Manager (about four managers ago) to change the name of the Answers forum but apparently it could not be done. Was a nice idea then and still is.
  22. Check out this page of system requirements in order to be able to run SL. You might also try another viewer (in addition to meeting the requirements). I use Firestorm but there are others. Welcome to Second Life!
  23. When you switch the photos inworld do you click 'OK' at the bottom left?
  24. Using the spell check tool in this forum is not arduous. Look at the top right corner of the 'post message' box and you'll see the little icon. Be prepared for many, MANY underlined in red words (in your case). Just click on the word and you will be offered a corrected word. Of course, you can go on doing what you are doing now and come across as lazy. Your choice!

Whirly wrote: "There have been a lot of people having login timeouts lately and if they do manage to get logged in, disconnecting soon after login and the cause has been that they have a really large, flat inventory structure. If your inventory is large and flat, it can take a long time to create inventory views during login and you will time out. It isnt so much the size as such though, it's how your inventory is structured that can cause the problem. If you have thousands of items within a folder or folders without any subfoldering in there, that is a flat inventory structure. The more subfoldering you do within your inventory, the better." Wow, that is the first time I've heard of a large, flat inventory structure causing problems. This is excellent information. I am so glad I structure mine in a way to make it easy to find things (and reducing the 'flatness'). Thanks Whirly.
