If you wouldn’t do it in RL, why in SL, i know.) Of course SL is used for many other reasons outside of serving as an epic escapist fantasy - a place where your actions and first impression appearances have little or no consequences. It’s not all about the looks and communicating with people who don’t have to know your past. This is not entirely true.. All actions n SL have consequences. I have seen and have had far too many first hand experiences with someone having their RL heart broken and wanted to chuck it all out and never come back. Still, it is mostly the social issues surrounding virtual reality/SL that keep many people who have never tried it, out. It still owns that stereotype of being a place that people use to replace, rather than aid, reality with - a place for a 40 yr old pedifile claiming to be a 15 year old boy, video game junkies who never shower, etc. The list of insults could go on. ya know... i have never EVER seen a bad review of SL in the media. CSI NY did it awesomely and that started the huge influx of new people back a few years ago. I have never met a child av that was looking fro SLex... ever. I have found , on the whole, that SLers are mature, articulate and intellegent Sure you get the odd "U R HAWT!!! LETS HAVE TEH BUTT SECKS!!" but they are few and far between. There’s a series of images taken by a photographer/guy by the name of Robbie Cooper. ( http://www.robbiecooper.org/small.html) Yes, judging by only a picture of someone’s face is pretty judgmental and biased. But perhaps not all judgements are “racist”? At least it opens up a conversation. Even if collecting photos of people serves no utilitarian purpose, making a statement/starting a conversation is always a start I hope. I am an undergrad student at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Doing a documentary project for a Digital Photography class. I knew you were a college student that wanted help with a mid term!!!! Yes - I hope that other people will help with, not do my homework for me. This is homework and 20cent type classes tend to function like a rigid system where productivity is determined partly by how fast you can meet a deadline. This is exactly why I don’t ever meet deadlines. Assignment, critique, and repeat. Apologies apologies! My last post was really obnoxious! Yes, I am an amateur and SL first timer. I can barely walk in a straight line. But I promise to learn. BTW.. you didn't post a RL pic. you cant expect us to, if you wont. :smileytongue:

Can you point out where in the TOS betting on virtual races is prohibited? here You've pointed to the wagering policy which I am already aware of. I see no statement in that document stating that wagering on virtual horse races in second life are prohibited. There is a broad exemption for 'skill' contests. There is an exemption for 'fantasy sports' leagues. Perhaps you could point to the language you feel prohibits wagering on virtual horse races. ok.. "It is a violation of this policy to wager in games in the Second Life® environment operated on Linden Lab servers if such games: Rely on chance or random number generation to determine a winner" we dont know how the horse races operate.. my thinking is it is random, just like in RL. therefore, VIOLATION!!!

Do you more closely resemble yourself or your alter ego? Why do you look the way you do in SL? I'm collecting self portraits/photographs of people and their avatars for a class photography and documentary project! Need a present picture taken of you with web cam and a brief background, no demographics/personal contact info of course! ... And permission for a 2min photo shoot in SL! Before anyone gives you any RL info there are a few questions to be answered. 1 What school do you attend? 2 What is the Teachers/ Professors name? 3 What are you going to do with this info after your "project" is done? 4 I dont have a web cam.. is a camera ok?
  6. Without any info about your computer we cant answer that question, however you really dont need to set draw distance any higher than 256.. ever.. that is Sim wide. why would you need to see 800 meters away?
  7. LL accepts PayPal and PayPal accepts moneypak which is a prepaid card...
  8. lets see.. from Gamerzfix. $9.30 USD gets me 2000L from the Lindex $10 USD gets me 2500L do the math people... and you get your $L instantly. lets try the big numbers... Gamrez... $911.40 = 200,00L Lindex.... $911.40 = 225,041L where is the benefit?
  9. I was flipping through the MP when i came across a store selling childrens clothing... or what they claim is childrens clothing. The avs in the pics were NOT children. They had cleavage and very sexy shapes. The clothing is such that i would expect to see it on Ladies in the Red Light district. Hip huggers, micro bikinis, torn tights/leggings, Chest shading, and mini skirts.... I have 2 daughters, ages 7 and 9, they do not have curves nor do the have an adults upper body. I have seen these clothes on some kid avs inworld. With the shading they dont look like kids anymore. Perhaps this could be the cause of some of the "discrimination"?

That's the discrimination I'm talking about....which is based on nothing but ignorance. But thats the point, No one is asking for justification. They are simply saying they dont want child avs on their sim.. and they have every right to bann them. perhaps they have had a bunch of children bothering their customers. perhaps they have adult areas and since LL has such a broad warning they just give them all the boot.. (the broadness being "the avatar should not be in proximity to sexual content or activity" define Proximity please.) who knows why they are banned. does it really matter? It's their land. I for one am tired of the endless whining from both sides. CHILD AVS: stay out of Adult areas! problem solved. Just like in RL kids shouldnt be wandering without an adult. if they are so hell bent on reliving their childhood or whatever, they should have adult supervision.

  14. Syo Emerald wrote: Keep in mind, your children are real children. In case of childavatars we are talking about adult users who made their avatar look like a child. Hanging out with them (outside of every roleplay conversation) is pretty much like talking with normal people. There avatars don't make them limited in their mind. I'm guessing you haven't spent much time around child avs... they don't stop with the kidlet speech. We had a child av come to our club asking "Iz mi moomies n daddehs waz der?" mind you , she claimed she was supposed to be 6. I have a 6-year-old daughter, she does not sound like a moron. Mind you, this was an Adult sim with a biker bar and strippers.. I IMed her and asked her to change or leave. she told me off so i booted and banned her. go ahead and call me discriminatory.
  15. Lets break this down a bit. shall we? Ziggy21 Slade wrote: There are some strangely intolerant views being expressed in this thread from posters that really havent even tried to understand how the Breedables market works. I wonder why people so against something which they have clearly had so little contact with. Breedables are a game designed to provide entertainment for the users and profit for the creators, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, you could describe every item set for sale in Second Life in the same way. No one is forcing anyone to continue to buy food, the overwhelming majority of people are not tricked into buying a pet only to find out later it needs feeding, the people who are really into it will have calculated the cost of producing offspring down to the last L$ and since food sales are the creators income, these parts of the game are obviously well advertised. If you bought on a secondary market and didn't realize what you were getting into, just join the relevant advertising group and sell the animal, you never know you may even make a profit. Wrong... you are forced to buy food, salt, treats, and medicine to keep your "pets" healthy. If you don't buy them , they will get sick and then you can't do anything with them. The fact that animals can die if not fed is an essential part of the game, the users enjoy having an animal that they need to care for, idiotic?, sad? - 76 million Tamagotchi users got their enjoyment in the same way, and of course this nurturing type mechanic is used in many other games, The Sims, Farmville, Tycoon series, Catz series to name a few. you didn't have to buy food for Tamagotchi. i had 8 of them. Breedables bring real life currency into Second Life, most breeders enjoying buying and selling on the secondary market, and from time to time they make a killing, big lumps of L$s that they may just decide to blow on your products. if you look back at the transaction statistics for summer 2009 you can clearly see the huge spike when Sion Chickens reached their height of popularity, an extra $100,000 USD was brought into Second Life in one month alone. And that money went directly into the creators pockets and was turned back into USD.. invalid point. People playing breedable games rent land, buy stuff to make it look nice and spend time and money here in SL, we need as many of this type of resident as we can get. Like all good games breedables have what may be described as 'addictive' qualities, this means the creators have worked hard to create something people want to play, comparing creators to heroin dealers who prey on uninformed residents is ludicrous nonsense. Calling breedables a ponzi or pyramid scheme is a total misunderstanding of this type of product, there are several fundamental differences to the business model, not to mention the entertainment value. The accusation of fraud was sensibly withdrawn by the OP although repeated by another poster who didn't bother with the technicality of producing any evidence, anecdotal or otherwise, to support the charge Whilst there has been a lot of talk about the evil money making of the creators, no one has taken a moment to consider the development and running costs which can be enormous. A successful system will require hundreds probably thousands of hours of development, almost always by a team rather than a single developer, and depending on the deal thats been struck, thousands of dollars can be invested to bring the product to market. This kind of risk deserves a high return. Once released there is always ongoing development and a large emotionally connected user base to support and manage, it can be very hard work. Most breedable systems to one degree or another are victims of their own success, I know from my own experience, going from standing on my own on my deck quietly creating things to suddenly having 700 users, who's enjoyment in the game I felt personally responsible for, was a huge shock. Creators are in a constant battle with the clunkiness of Second Life, sadly there are also one or two creators that don't seem to have the skillset to produce an efficient system so they went ahead and released an inefficient one. One such system was released recently and I am guessing it may be this that is plaguing the OPs sim. My question is a simple one. what happens when LL implements their script limits? each horse is about 4 scripts..
  16. Yes, i know that. My point was that i wasnt told anything about "breedable" horses before i bought this one.

We don't know who your main creator av is , because you are hiding. I create things and sell them. and to say that one of the items , which has sold very well btw, is not worthy of your standards is childish. Anyone can search my name and find my creations.. i do make more than just " single prim rings". we have no idea what or even if you create anything, other than your own word. forgot to add.... IMHO :matte-motes-nerdy:
  18. you should have stopped before the insult. How dare you insult anyone that creates anything is SL. you picked one item i sell and insult me. nice. very adult. Your whole argument just went down the drain. for your information, the reason it is that price is because of the armor scripts in it. you know, for RP. Grow up.
  19. soo, i have a horse. i use it for RP. i ride it once and a while as a knight. now, it's sick. and i am supposed to buy "medicine" and food for it.. i paid $1000L for this horse. why do i have to feed the frickin thing? why not add a "don't breed/feed/its just a prop" button? just my $5L. and i will never buy another breedable.
