  1. Thank you very much for you kind words and the grammar and spell check tool, I 'm afraid I need it LOL! Such a great adventure this is. And I really admire the people I interviewed. Of course, beacuse I am a writer myself (in rl mainly a novelist and in SL a reporter) and interested in arts, it is good to interview residents here who are also into writing or the arts. But for this interview series you don't have to be an SL writer, an artist or a SL celebrity. Everyone is special. That's why my main questions are about home (can also be a special place) and your dearest passion. Everyone can talk about these subjects. That's my goal. To talk with a variety of residents and make insightful but light portraits of them. Respect and sincere interest are the keywords.
  2. Great interview with the famous SL writer @Huckleberry Hax. When you meet someone in an office for an interview you imagine all sorts of things. When I arrived in the realm of famous Second Life writer Huckleberry Hax, the fantasy matched reality completely. Only the reality in SL added something to it. It was as if I had landed in a 70s movie like All the presidents men. Picture this: veneer wood furniture and walls, a globe, a cabinet with liquor, an old TV, iron beige-brown filing cabinets and Huckleberry Hax himself sitting behind his desk, looking like a boss with his sleeves rolled up. This was vintage in the superlative sense. https://angelusvanengelen.homesteadcloud.com/second-life-our-passion/huckleberry-hax
  3. What care and love you have put in re-creating your beloved objects from RL. We all take our precious memories with us to SL, vice versa, I notice that after a few years I also bring back beautiful memories from SL to RL. In this way the worlds remain connected. If all goes well in a balanced symbiotic way. Thank you for your story!
  4. Well, I'm just filling up the dishwasher while I think about this. From a safe distance of course. You never know what that dishwasher has been up to.
  5. That's totally up to you. I find that the advantage of getting older is precisely that you care less and less about what others think. And you don't have to be blunt or rude about it, you don't have to say "f*ck the world. At least that's not my style. I love my fellow man, I love my neighbors. But I don't have to own the same car as them. Further, I thinks it's a matter of style and self consiousness. Apart from the physical discomforts that can come when growing older, age is such a relative matter. I mean, there are young people who conduct old and there are old people who stay young at heart. If you like to dress in a certain style and you are wondering if you are to old for that, just ask yourself: Am I feeling comfortable wearing this? (Not what will the others think). Is this me? If the answer is Yes, go for it! Wear it with style and with your head held high. Attitude and self consiousness in a positive way, that's what it's all about.
  6. Oh, and if you see some errors in my blogs: do not hesitate to report it to me. I try the best I can, but I am simply not a native speaker / writer of English, so if I miss anything, feel free to say so.
  7. What a fun vist it was to @Owl Dragonash! Now owl is a special being and a sight to behold! Se had firy red rasta hair, wore antlers on her head and colourfull little wings on her back. She said she is an owl, faun, elf and a woman since 2007. I knew she was a busy bee to say the least: always organising cultural events. Let's hear what she has to say about her home and her dearest passion... https://angelusvanengelen.homesteadcloud.com/second-life-our-passion/owl-dragonash
  8. The portrait gallery of SL residents grows steadily! I interviewed Richard, a fair, well build, curly red haired guy. He doesn't owns a house in Second Life. He prefers to go were he wants. But 'home' is a broad concept and he certainly has a favoriete place! But what is his passion? Also editing an interview I had with Owl Dragonash, she organizes music festivals and art exhibitions. But first: Richard! Richard (homesteadcloud.com)
  9. Allways moving to see this kind of important memorials in SL. Thank you for sharing your story.
  10. My avatar on a train journey. it's actually an Orient express train that unfortunately doesn't excist in SL, but would love to see something like this appear here!
  11. Oh no that's literally a dismantled house, what a shame. Yet a great story!
  12. Great story! For me recognizable, I mean getting attached to things. For me, objects can have a soul. I don't mean that in a magical way, but it is you who give things a soul.
  13. Oh yes growing older sometimes changes your perspective and the value of things :-).
  14. Do you have created or bought an object in your house or your environment that looks like, or reminds you of an object that is dear to you in RL? Now you don't need to bring your whole RL story, just the object. 🙂 For example the story of my object. In Dutch families there is often Delft blue pottery in the family possession. As I was a teenager I didn't like it. I thougt it was old fashioned and bourgeous. Now I have inhereted a Dutch garniture: three Delft blue vases. Now I am older and I have become very attached to it now. In villa Rudolfo in SL where I live I got a bit homesick for the Netherlands and decided to also purchase a Delft blue vase. That's the story of my SL/RL object. In the picture on the left vases in SL and on the right vases in RL. Hope to hear your stories!
  15. Utill now I have interviewd three residents: Belinda Newell, Lewis Luminos and GoSpeed Rasere. There are I others here who said they liked to be interviewd and I will contact them. Sometimes it's a bit of a puzzle due to the time zones. But one way or another: I keep trying to contact everybody who wishes to be interviewed for these little portraits. https://angelusvanengelen.homesteadcloud.com/second-life-our-passion If there are others here who liked to be interviewed too, apart those who allready said they are available for an interview: let me know! Contact me inworld (Angelus van Engelen), or here at the forum, by PM or bij mail: angelusvanengelen@gmail.com. I am planning to make a long term project of this, so I will have a varierity of protraits of residents in SL! Eventually I will bundle the portraits and make a book of it, to be published both inworld and in RL. I am now planning to contact writers in SL who have exprience in writing and publishing inworld (GoSpeed Rasere thanks for your information!).
  16. My name is Angelus van Engelen. My real name is Archangelus van Engelenburgh, but I prefer the shorter name Angelus van Engelen. It's also a funny name when you would translate it from Latin (Angelus) and Dutch (van Engelen) in English: Angel from the Angels. In real life I also have an Angel's name, and I chose to let some aspects from RL be the same for SL, the meaning of the name (although the name is different).
  17. I love all kinds of music: pop, jazz and also classical music. I like music that has something special or imaginative. I love the sitar player, singer and composer Bishi for instance. Her clips are also fenominal. I can imagine that someting like this, in that epic clip I now share, can happen in SL. It's a bit magical realistic, and SL can be magical realistic too. Enjoy!
  18. Tonight no interviews due to time zone differences etc. BUT. I just saw that the B52's are giving a concert in London tonight! If someone knows who they are: they are one of my favorite bands! So, if anyone searches me: I am with the B52's!
  19. The 3rd blog: I visited the lovely @GoSpeed Racer, fellow writer and... SL DJ! What is her dearest passion? https://angelusvanengelen.homesteadcloud.com/gospeed-rasere
  20. Dear forum tigers! Here is the second interview. I had this with the very friendly and handsome @Lewis Luminos! What would be his passion? https://angelusvanengelen.homesteadcloud.com/lewis-luminos
