You can't show a group of ten possible prizes and then reward people with one of those prizes chosen randomly. Which is what a gacha does. As long as people know what they get with their purchase then it should be fine.

I'm not so sure that would follow the TOS set up now. People would just buy buy buy till they get the random item they want.

Looking at a video of the incident one could barely call it a tree rather then bush. I have a hard time imagining a mother leaving her cubs in it for safety as a wolf or other predator could have easily reached them.

LOL, you make it sound like a Mother bear has the same reasoning as a human.  Perhaps the Mother bear knew that there wouldn't be a danger to the cubs where she placed them due to, oh I don't know...instinct?

I think my only issue with this thread is... why is this a thing?  Why is developing resiliency in SL any different from RL?  It's all just life.

Because if they didn't attribute this to SL they couldn't discuss the topic and sneak in all the RL stuff they wanted to say. :)

@Rick Nightingale There may be a lot of clothing being sold now with terrible rigging.  If you demo'd it and it was that bad, toss the DEMO in the trash and move along.  The creator lost a sale, maybe many sales.  Maybe they will realize their poor rigging/skinning is the issue and work to fix it, or maybe they don't care.  Either way, they lost a customer,  and word of mouth can be detrimental to a brand.

i did demo the outfit and it fit beautifully standing there in a Tpose. I neglected to dance in the item which is totally on me for sure.  If it wasn't a lacey item the alpha's would have been fine but when you alpha lace you always can see you did it.

I will be more careful from now on. Because this was a very well known and popular brand I trusted it too much I guess.  It was a $499 outfit which isn't chump change for an outfit in SL.  It will go in the trash and I won't write a review because I don't particularly like my name on bad reviews.  This was one of the very few Lara X only items I've bought. I will go back t buying items that have both a Maitreya and a Lara X option as I won't feel as I've wasted as much then.

Okay, so I misinterpreted the point of this whole thread.  After reading the OP, I thought the question was "when you are stressed in SL how do you cope?"  The answer "log out" seemed to be the best answer. I am not aware of anyone who logs in to feel stressed out. Why would they?

I now think the question is "When you are feeling stress (in any life) how do you use SL to cope?

    (Snip from original post)

We all encounter difficult experiences in SL -- what helps you cope and develop resilience? Do you recognize patterns in the poem that relate to how you manage difficult situations in SL, and/or do you have coping strategies of your own to share?

    ________

I like your answer Cinnamon but you understand the question asked correctly the first time you read it.

If I get bored or tired of SL, this is what I turn to..

It's usually just being bored or breaking up the monotony really to when I need a change..

Me and my husband will get the boys in there also and tear things up.. hehehe

We still do this anyways, but I'll go in there myself too if SL is really just not doing anything for me.

It's a great game and love how accurate  the maps are.

You can even go under the Lincoln memorial and in all the internal places.. Same with the white house and pretty much anywhere..

Thanks! This is now on my Steam wish list!

Your posts mainly serve to confuse people and distract...I wish you'd stop.

I'd prefer that you simply cite if anything helps you deal with stress in SL.  If nothing does, fine, but no need to keep challenging what I'm asking for here.

^^^This right here. I don't find @Love Zhaoying posts on this topic confusing at all. Some of the jokes, I must admit, I have no clue what they are about but I am not confused by his posts on this topic.  You might want to change that or not....It really is not anyone's right to tell another how to respond to a post that is put on this forum and opened up for discussion; It isn't off topic for sure.

You, of all people, should not be asking people stop challenging what you say.

Some people enjoy taking out their frustrations by virtually shooting things up. For me, playing a game like that one would just make me feel even more stressed out.

Fair enough. :) We all have different ways of dealing with things in SL and RL. Not one thing is wrong  or the incorrect way.  Normally if I get frustrated or upset in SL it tells me that I have been on too long and that is a cue to log out and get some RL sleep. I quite often wake up refreshed the next day ready to tackle another day of silliness on a platform I love.  One thing I have learned though is that what strangers on the internet think of me is none of my business. I even have it in my profile.  It has made coping with stupidity a whole lot easier since.

Creating something doesn't mean you own it.  Many types of people have utilized this philosophy through the decades, often with their own paraphrasing.

But you need to stay on topic and discuss whatever coping mechanisms you use to deal with your inworld experiences as opposed to trying to make me somehow wrong.  I'll be waiting to hear from you.

Please don't direct how I need to respond to a thread.

  10. This is a bigger problem than just a "bit of clipping" and I RARELY ran into it with Maitryeya clothing from popular brands.  Different experiences I guess but clipping all of the top and shorts of a lacy outfit when you move is unacceptable and poor product creation. Especially when there is nothing you can do about it but toss in the garbage.

Nobody owns this prayer, and it's simply words of wisdom that can help someone cope in any situation.  I use it quite often in SL.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serenity_Prayer

    Actually they do.

    Reinhold Niebuhr

Reinhold Niebuhr, one of the most prominent Protestant theologians of the 20th century and a Yale alumnus, has long been considered the author, though there has been speculation about other writers. “It is entirely possible that Niebuhr composed the prayer much earlier than he himself later remembered,” writes Fred R.

I think what this thread teaches us is that we are all different, both in shape and opinion.  I apologize to Rowan and others if my opinion annoys them.

The best advice I ever got when I started into this was 'demo, demo, demo', and 'no demo, no sale'.

I think it was the word "unnatural" that was offensive. Honestly 80% of the population has a butt that doesn't look like that.  If you were to call any butt unnatural in SL it would be the perfectly sized rounded butt.

BTW, Whole Brain Health has a lot of classes designed for the aging brain...seeing as we're all approaching elderly status we might need some of those classes to develop the resilience that would help us enjoy SL better as the years roll by.

You're assuming most people in Second Life need to enjoy SL better.  Most people in SL see SL as a respite from their RL.

The Serenity Prayer embodies resiliency like few other short quotes I've come across, although there are a few good lines in Kipling's poem:

"O God, give us the serenity to accept what cannot be changed, the courage to change what can be changed, and the wisdom to know the one from the other".

Resiliency, the ability to cope in a trying situation, creates peace. And believe me I needed to feel peace in a difficult situation I encountered in SL last week. But I tend to accomplish quite a few pursuits in SL that have historically been out of my wheelhouse.

You are skating on a very thin line and I think you know it. I guess forum rules don't apply to you?
