  1. I was hoping that rubelena's first 30 days hadn't run out.
  2. It doesn't have to be financial domination. People get addicted. I know a woman who was so into an online chat community that she lost an unhealthy amount of weight, neglected her children, and almost wrecked her marriage. And all she was doing was chatting. People fall into holes and they are so excited they don't realize where they are. It's hard to pull them out if you can't be there to make them see the misery.
  3. Thanks for the answers. I had avoided applier clothes up to now because what I'd tried looked flat and painted-on. But most of the clothes I've found for eBody Curvy don't really cover the lower part of my butt, so I've been looking for shorts and jeans and such. Since there isn't a huge variety yet for that body, I figured I ought to explore the Omegas, because I really love that body.
  4. Here are some websites that can help: https://fabfree.wordpress.com/fabfree-30-days-list/ http://slfreebdollarbluckychairhunts.blogspot.com/ Note that the first link is a list of stuff you can get free in your first thirty days. Hopefully that hasn't already run out.
  5. @Clover Jinx - I liked the bagpipes - it's a better version of the song than the Dropkick Murphys' - but I love the Scottish accents. Anyway, I've been listening to covers lately, don't know why, and trying to find a good one of Wichita Lineman because it has two haunting lines ("I hear you singing in the wire/I can hear you through the whine" and "And I need you more than want you/And I want you for all time") even if the rest of the song isn't up to those bits. Unfortunately, all the covers basically sound just like Glen Campbell's iconically corny version, except for this one, which I think captures the almost mystical essence of the song:
  6. Okay - I do NOT mean "all" in a literal sense. Obviously they won't work on mesh bodies that aren't Omega-enabled or whatever. Specifically, what I'm asking is this: I have these mesh bodies: Venus, Maitreya, Classic eBody, and Curvy eBody. If I buy some clothes that are Omega-applied, will they work on all those bodies? Do they work in a way similar to the way system-layer clothes work on the classic avatar?
  7. You can get away with not having mesh feet if you wear boots or ankle boots or shoes that somehow cover all of your feet. There are older shoes that some with skin parts that you need to match to your skin tone if you want to wear them. I have NEVER been able to make that match. (never) Yes, and about demos - when you're looking for hair, visit a BUNCH of hair stores and pick up demos. Then go to a quiet sandbox somewhere and try them on one after the other to find the one(s) you like. Do the same for skins. It's better to separate the collecting and the trying, and all the demo-trying that you do is not time wasted. You need to know what's out there to find out what you want. The skin/shape match up can be tricky because one skin can look like crap on one shape, and beautiful on another. So you have to either start with a shape you like and then try on skin after skin with it, or start with a skin you like and try shape after shape.
  8. Okay, so you don't actually NEED a mesh body and head and all that. I would say that you should wait until you feel the actual LACK before you get into it. The essentials you need to have a nice avatar is: good shape good skin good hair clothes Other stuff like eyes and nails and makeup and all, they are good but you can also wait on all of it. Whatever investigations you make into skin and shape and hair will still help you when you are working on your mesh body, if you get one. Because even with a mesh body you still need shape, skin, hair. And you have to know what YOU like, because there is a world of choices. If you add a mesh body to the mix, you will have so many variables you might not know what to do next. You could go to stores like Coco and Gizza if you want to see nice, non-sexpot clothes.
  9. Now I have a routine - every morning a group that sits near me at work has their status meeting - I don't want to hear it, so I listen to the new entries on this thread. Today was my absolute favorite day. All the selections were great. @Bree Giffen - I LOVED boyish @Zeta Vandyke - Amerika just killed me. I have to learn the words so can sing this all over the place As for me, I was listening to covers of Bowie's The Man Who Sold The World because I was so disappointed with Nirvana's version. (In the end I gave up.) Now I'm trying to decide what's my favorite from Roxy Music. Right now I think it's this:
  10. this song periodically gets stuck in my head, and of course I make an idiot of myself singing as I'm walking, "I'm a loser, baby, so why doncha kill me"
  11. I was curious about these guys - there was a kind of funny argument about whether they were *really* a metal band.
  12. I can't contradict what you said, since I've never tried a head, but I have noticed that most shapes (I mean the shapes you use without a head) don't have good faces. I've found some that I think do have lovely faces, and so I don't feel the need to find a head.
  13. This used to be my absolute favorite song. I used to listen to it over and over, crying my eyes out. Then I bought the disk, and this turned out to be the only good song on it. Kinda killed the magic for me. it still hits me sometimes, though.
  14. Ooofff! I finally got through the whole thread. I can't say I liked everything, but I gave everything a shot. I'm going to try to keep up with the posts.
  15. Thanks for the notes - I'll try the support group. I don't have a mesh head. They just don't convince me yet. I love your blog, btw, and didn't realize you were wearing an eBody! I'm going to spring for the full version. It'll make it all easier.
  16. I've tried to find this out on my own, without success. I know (by way of example) that Glam Affair makes the presets in the Maitreya HUD, and I assume Belleza makes them for their bodies' HUDs, but who makes the skins in the eBody HUD? [ I'm kind of surprised that this information isn't on the Mesh Body Addicts site in the body reviews. ] I picked up the freebie Classic eBody and found that I liked it quite a bit, and am strongly tempted to buy the full item. I feel like it's more natural than the other bodies. It's a more natural step up from the classic avatar IMHO. I think that Maitreya, Belleza, and Hourglass are quite beautiful, but I feel a lot more comfortable in the eBody. I found a skin that looks close to one of the HUD presets, but of course there's a line across my neck. I don't have a super computer, so even though it looks alright on my screen, I don't know how others see me.
  17. There are lots of high-quality freebies, but even those you buy often (usually?) come with HUDs that cover lots of color choices.
  18. It's so cute to hear those soft voices crooning, "I'm bad, I'm bad, you know I'm really bad."
  19. You might want to look at Ooh-la-licious for skins.
  20. Speaking of AO, I don't know how much shopping or configuration you feel up to doing, but in the meantime there is a good free female AO at Amacci - free for avatars under 30 days old. Skin and hair shopping can be time consuming, but they count the most.
  21. I know others won't agree, but I don't think you need a head. In any case, you need a nice shape.
  22. I just tried wearing a male shape under my Maitreya body. I just ended up looking like a female wrestler.
