  1. Yeah, I couldn't play any of the Eurovision videos. Maybe every other day I hit one that I can't play for copyright reasons.
  2. I don't know how it is that I wake up with a song in my head, but here is today's:
  3. okay, right - I missed Coffee's mention of that -- I will let the sandbox owners now (I already reported him) Thanks!
  4. Right -- all of that makes sense, except for the fact that it's a brand-new, just-signed-up avatar that hasn't done anything or accepted anything or worn anything other than what came with the avatar. It isn't like there's days that I might forget I did something. It's just hours.
  5. This is a brand new alt that I meant to use to experiment with the Tonic body (but I wasn't wearing it yet), and so it's just a couple of days old. I do have RLV enabled, but wasn't wearing any device or relay. Everything I was wearing was what came with the LL avatar when I signed up. I haven't accepted anything anywhere about anything. Not experiences, not gifts, nothing. I'm brand new. I just checked again just now to make sure I wasn't wearing anything weird, but no.
  6. I was just in a sandbox that I particularly like - was there to work on my shape, when this guy came up and kept bumping into me. Then he made my avatar grovel on the ground and then stand up and my avatar's head spun. Selecting "stop avatar animations" didn't do any good. I reported him, of course, and blocked him, but is there anything I could have done to stop him from animating me? How did it even work? I'm pretty angry, but I understand it comes with the territory. I'd like to go back to that sandbox.
  7. The first time I logged in there was no one about. I could see myself on radar as a dot, but everyone else was a caret (^) and no matter how far I flew I couldn't reach them. I had no idea they were above me. I went back to where I first appeared and walked around. It was a pretty sim, but there was nothing to do. I walked to the next sim and as I went through the sim crossing I sank into the ground and got stuck underneath a store. Next time I logged in I found another store on that sim that had a conversation bot. I used to go and talk to him, but that got old quickly. Then I found out how to use search and I began going to sims that were based on places I'd lived. It was a very very long time before I saw another person, but in the meantime I figured out a lot of things about using SL. I don't know how long it was before I found an inhabited sim, and I liked it so much I rented a room there, ... Once I had human contact, everything started moving much faster. I think the only reason I kept going is because a friend at a RL party told me about Second Life, and he was so excited about it that I figured eventually I would be too.
  8. This version makes me forget how much I hate this song. He starts singing at 5:56. I think "Pete" must be Pete Seeger.
  9. I was always curious about this shampoo song - didn't realize it was so dark:
  10. I got pretty choked up, too. It was very cool and I'm glad it worked.
  11. This is actually an old alt I dug up, cleaned up her inventory, and got some new hair and duds:
  12. I woke up angry, and this song was in my head. This version has a lot more punch than the original, and so BOOM! And then it was cold and rainy, and the subway wasn't moving, so I got off and started walking down the empty platform. (Everyone else was jammed on the train.) I started singing "It's an eminence front / eminence front/ it's a put on!" with my coat and scarf flapping in the wind and realizing I didn't know any more of the words than that. It felt like a movie until I got to the street and it was even more rainy than before. But at least I had a soundtrack in my head.
  13. Congratulations! I wish you all the best. But what does being engaged have to do with that music? Do you have to play it at your wedding reception?
  14. oh my god - you have ironed me on your irony board.
  15. Doesn't "pedantic" mean "dancing in the crosswalk"?
  16. Also, regarding the OP - didn't anyone suggest logging into home? Or is that just a Firestorm feature?
  17. About the friend list - I try to keep mine to zero. I love people and have inworld friends (some of whom I see quite often) and I end up talking to someone I don't know nearly every time I log in, but I cannot deal with a bunch of people knowing when I log in. I don't want anyone, even people I like, keeping tabs on me. It does happen in a moment of weakness, that I will let someone on that list, but usually after a day or two I turn off their ability to see when I'm online, and then later I delete them. I'd rather run into people the way you do in RL. At the dance club, it's the dance-club people. At the whatever-it-is sim, it's the whatever-it-is people.
  18. Did they faint when you said "Scituate" and "Billerica"?
