Me explico.

Is your avatar the gender you identify as?
Amelia Mitchell replied to applevines's topic in Your Avatar
I am female in both worlds. However I have a male alt; but while I completely identify myself with my female av and hence with her gender, my male alt is around for practical purposes. Example; I am dressing with demos, or wearing unmatched stuff because before logging off the day before I was trying on clothes, or not dressed at all and I feel too lazy to pick a diff attire, put on it, etc but I want to go see a store or explore; then, my “Ken doll” comes very handy, with the added bonus that while using it to go around, I don’t get annoying IM’s from random guys telling me how pretty/sexy/hot/whatever I look, and stuff like that. On the other hand, at times I use it too, to see how a given outfit, mesh head, hair or shape would look on my partner; I put on a demo of his mesh head on my male av and it becomes a fine test dummy. My male alt feels to me like some sort of “cousin”, rather than a side of myself. -
Very handsome! Great work... Yet quite a bit stressing perhaps?

As others have said, you don't look ugly, and the person who told you so is downright rude. The time to upgrade you avatar, (If such time comes at all) will be only when you feel like it. Meanwhile, go explore, talk to people, make friends, learn new skills, admire the great places others have created, in short; do whatever you want and enjoy SL how you see fit. After all, it's a place to unwind and enjoy, not to get stressed. Don't worry about other's opinions on your looks.

That's my idea, provide with info about nice items to look good for new comers or people who doesn't want/can spend much in their avatars. Btw, Coco group gifts are indeed a great choice to find inexpensive yet good clothes, ty!

I have thought of starting a new pictures thread (yep, as if there's not enough of them ) One focussed in inexpensive clothes, jewelry, hair, make up, shoes, skins or mesh bodies and heads, whatever that despite being free or inexpensive are quality, well made items that make us (Both men and women) look awesome. I wonder though if it'd be ok to add in here too the name and brand of the items we wear in the pictures, or it'd be considered advertising and therefore not allowed; well, please someone let me know, and play with me... Come on! Add your pics wearing those inexpensive items that make you look awesome! For starters, there's my picture. Total cost of the whole attire (Not counting mesh body, mesh head and head applier) 101 ld . Most of that amount belongs to the the price of the gloves, if you remove them, the sum lowers to 1 ld

Amelia Mitchell replied to Scylla Rhiadra's topic in Art, Music and Photography
Well, not much into RL- nightlife or club scene actually, and the odds of spotting a guy walking his dog or at the grocery store dressed in "interview with the vampire" style are quite slim (Lol, this is a rather small town and the mere idea is making me laugh out loud as I write) Boy, that'd be the highlight of the year over here! -

I am sorry that I only can like your picture once. THAT's the kind of look that in a guy makes me drool. So far I have never seen a man dessed this way in RL,(Well, not surprised here) so when I see one in sl I go all "boneless Actually, my bf dressed in this style when I first meet him, and couldn't help but enjoy what I was seeing -

Amelia Mitchell replied to Scylla Rhiadra's topic in Art, Music and Photography
How much can I relate whith what you say. For me, an attractive man, is much more so if he dresses in a given way, much more than if he goes around shirtless, regardless of how beautiful his body might be. And it applies both for SL and RL.(Btw. That of the "given way" is a matter of personal preferences, too long and boring to elaborate here) -
