Hmm... If it's not Social (because there's no features you'd expect in most SL venues).. ..and if it's not a Casino (because as some assert, it's not "gambling").. ..then how is it a Social Casino? Maybe "Helios" is like "Hell"?

Kind of like "trying crime to see if it gives you a rush", or "making sure gambling isn't really one of your many addiction problems", it's probably not worth it! There's an interesting (to me, at this time of day) thought: there's probably not a lot that would get you banned from Helios if you're spending money. Hopefully someone tests this theory and reports back!

Ironically, it appears they have not (/cannot) banned people from the Forum who were suspendbanned from the casino. Usually (sometimes) they go together, at least if you're "bad enough on the Forum". *innocent look*

Theory: LL set the prices high to try and prove that the business model is viable, of paying for a Social Gambling Private Region with just the gambling Token income. Under this theory, LL could let users who "buy the Social Gaming (Private Region)" business model keep the L$, but LL would control the amounts and ATM's / Tokens.

I think it's because with Gotchyers, you "get something". With tokenized gamblin', you get bupkiss. Irony: The primary script in my current workflow chain is a Tokenizer.

Since the suggested amounts are "basically a joke" given how much people complain to spend less than that for a one-time purchase, on a mesh avatar that they will use every day.. I have to wonder. Is there a disconnect between LL and the users; LL doesn't know "we" think that those amounts are out of line? Or, are they targeting some base of users who don't know any better, or don't care, or can't help themselves even if the amount is "way too high"? Disclaimer: I used to be a "big spender" in SL. Dropping L$10k, 30K, 80K just to watch the chaos and for the notoriety.

Sorry if you misunderstood, I wasn't complaining about the actual gambling.

"Let's sell [devices of evil], then go protest [activities we disagree with]!" EXACTLY like the real world!!! I think protesting INSIDE is a step too far. But on topic, those Social Casinos definitely need Security and Bouncers. Big, beefy, furry bouncers. As a deterrent and actual security. (A static Anubis doesn't really add much. Unless he's a Very Good Dog.)

Sometimes it's hard to tell if the protesters are the Judean People's Front, or the People's Front of Judea.

Honestly, this is a great topic for discussion. As is the original topic (unless I'm in the wrong thread AGAIN), that "this just looks bad" with LL promoting "gambling". Given the entire history of "gambling" being banned, replaced by "skill gaming".
