So what changed in the Terms of Service?
Rowan Amore replied to Lucia Nightfire's topic in General Discussion Forum
Sure they are free to create what they want but if it doesn't comply with what LL deems as modesty, they're wasting their time. Not enough modesty? Gone. Too much and people won't buy it. LL need s to clearly define what the minimum is for acceptable. -
So what changed in the Terms of Service?

The new rules could possibly be concerned with articles like this about the proliferation of AI generated CP...This is the reality. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2024/04/22/ai-csam-ncmec-cybertipline-stanford-report/ Among the key problems outlined in the report: “Low-quality” reporting of CSAM by some tech companies. A lack of resources, both financial and technological, at NCMEC. Legal constraints on both NCMEC and law enforcement. Law enforcement’s struggles to prioritize an ever-growing mountain of reports. Now, all of those problems are set to be compounded by an onslaught of AI-generated child sexual content. Last year, the nonprofit child-safety group Thorn reported that it is seeing a proliferation of such images online amid a “predatory arms race” on pedophile forums. -
Peeve...that the educational system has failed. Reading comprehension has apparently gone out the window along with cursive writing and critical thinking.

Sorry Dyna. My post went out the same time as yours. -

Yes, how one sees a child avatar is ambiguous. I've said so myself. But on the other side, some people also see something as adult.that others do not. It goes both ways and why it will always be a judgement call for users and LL. What has not been said is that in order to be an adult, one must be 7 feet tall with giant boobs and ass or men need to be muscle bound and hairy. Not once, I can guarantee. THAT is what I took issue with. -

Yes, the ToS is the law here. The laws in your country and others are probably the reason LL originally implemented the ***** restrictions. Some of those laws also include create as well as distribute. -

Such as the UK and Canada? They have those laws. -

That's incorrect. CP laws in many countries where SL is used have laws against cartoon (virtual) depictions of CP. -

As I've mentioned,.there are plenty of petite women in the adult.places I go. I have no problem with them at all. Obviously, the region owners don't either. However, the statement I quoted from you is constantly thrown around. I've never heard one person say anyone under 7 foot who didn't have giant boobs and an ass was a child. -

Nope, not one person here thinks that. -

That the uproar was posted elsewhere and residents demanded action in various places, I'm sure they felt as.if they had to do.something. -

Nothing has changed. This all came about because of the uproar. People.probably wanted some kind of rule change about child avatars. Personally, restricting them from entering adult region would have probably been enough. -

The main issue is virtual depictions of all those 'worse' kinks are not against the law. Actual RL depictions of some are but the laws about anything virtual hasn't caught up the same way the ones about CP have. I'm sure eventually they will but until then, LL need not address them. -

Yep, it's a minefield. Not sure there's much anyone, including LL, can do about that. -

Which is exactly why there is that grey area when deciding if an avatar looks like an adult or someone under 18. The facial features often being the deciding factor. -

I haven't actually tested whether the alpha is include on the system body. All I know is when I tp in somewhere and no one's mesh body has arrived, I see the system body with the system skin. I'll pay more attention next time as to whether the alphas work -

People might want to be careful as well as to what their Favs are on their f-list. Parent and Child Play? Kind of a red flag to me. -

Almost every single time I see this in a profile and then look at the avatar, it's questionable. If they also have a Flickr with some questionable photos, well then, yeah. Your statement means nothing if I were a region owner.
