  1. Thanks for the Link, Ry0ta That means basically that I don't switch to Direct Delivery for the time being, and if I am lucky it works until Magic Boxes are retired ....
  2. Finally, now that ANS is out and I had to remove my Magicboxes anyway because my landlord left SL without noticing anybody I started to move my stuff to Direct Delivery or rather, I wanted to. Dragging my stuff to the merchant outbox generates the error message below: Marketplace initialization failed Initialization with the Marketplace failed because of a system or network error. Try again later. Is this a known bug? Do I just have to try every day again? As it is now I can't list a single item to Marketplace, anybody else had that and how do I fix that?
  3. Well, lesson learned I guess But it's good to know that PayPal takes action when required, and I am happy to know that the scammer got banned by PayPal, it may cause more trouble than he is aware right now, especially if that account was verified with RL data. Probably PayPal makes some more investigations in case that PayPal account is not backed up with RL data, and since PayPal is a bank they got the same duties like a bank has (this money has to be considered black money ...)
  4. As for all residents it took me a little while to find out how to unbox things after pruchasing them, and meanwhile I prefer my stuff boxed, one of the reasons is that I dont have to box them myself for backup. It's not neccessary to worry if the box can be deleted after copying it's content to the inventory, either it is copy and you will still have it in your inventory anyway, or it is no copy and will be empty after copying its content to inventory, what you need it then for anyway? You can just delete it anyway.

Of course you can quote the research data you used, or if it is your own research, describe the measurements, the circumstances your researches where conducted, the redundancy of the results, well, the usual stuff that is needed and any technician/scientist does when conducting any research. PS: as to how the sounds are made i wont tell you, ... A beating argument, I think I've read that somewhere else before in a book, maybe the bible? It proves that you have no idea what you are talking about. By the way, my daughter stopped using that argument at the age of 6 or so ...

  7. if you are able to place a brown dwarf somewhere, why are you still here on earth? Why are you bothering to write in a forum, or spending your time in a virtual world? /me shakes her head and leaves
  8. TY, but I have added a large body in the outer system, ... YOU did? Is it confirmed by the russians?
  9. Did anybody here read the book of the italian writer Umberto Eco, Foucault's Pendulum? This whole thread would perfectly fit there
  10. Well, to be honest, I hear sounds all the time in the air, but that to expects near the airport, isn't it? Oh, and Lucinda, are you talking about transformers or transformators? Big difference when it comes to electromagnetic fields ... And sounds, well, of course there are sounds everywhere, some in the range of 20Hz ... 20kHz, that's what healthy ears can pick up (well, me not anymore, I played in to many rockbands and have seen to many techno parties, it's over at 16kHz for me). Of course there are also sounds at very low frequencies, it's called infrasonic, earthquake are in that range (oh, you mentioned earthquake, right?) Some sounds are at very low levels as well, but keep in mind that 0dB SPL is the lowest change in air pressure that a human usually can hear, of course you will never experience that unless you work with special chambers that are dampened enough to be called acoustically dead. My advice for you: go see a doctor to check your ears (ever heard about tinnitus?), or change the amount or the type of drug you consume, or, as others pointed out, wear your tinfoil hat. Last not least, if you talk about things like sun flares, electro magnetic fields, tranformators and such, do it in a way that educated people can follow you, formulate it in a way that it meets common physics and can be proven using math (I think you claimed your world to be pure math, right? Shoud be a piece of cake for you then)
  11. No, I didn't hear strange sounds, it is more than 20 years ago that I had magic mushrooms the last time ...
  12. That only works if the user of the alt account doesn't click any suspicious links ... If somebody clicks suspicious links in the main account, the chance is that they do the same when they use their alt ... Somebody wrote about educating the users, and that's the only thing that really helps. Passwords will be stolen as long as people click on a link just because it can be clicked and then enter private informations without thinking first just because they are prompted to.
  13. To be honest, no, they can't protect you if you click a link with a fake login page. It's only the user itself who should be carefull which links are clicked, the marketplace link you talk is on altervista, Linden Lab and Second Life are not connected to altervista. And why would you need to login just to see an advertisement anyway ... Those hackers don't put much effort to break anybodys account, they just wait until somebody tells them the neccessary information, like it happened in your case. Only protection in such a case is to make sure that a link you click on is trustworthy, and if something seems suspicious (like asking for a password to see an advertisement) to not proceed, under no circumstances. Make sure that you change all passwords that are tied to your account, change the password of your e-mail account as well. Linden Lab cannot be blamed in that case, you can't blame the ISP where you got your e-mail interface if you click a link that arrived via e-mail either, nor can you blame your bank if the PIN of your credit card is stolen. All I can say is that it hurts sometimes to learn...
  14. After using the new Firestorm now for a couple of days I have to say that it looks nice, the framerate is exactly the same as before, but: it crashes at least once a day the blue pop up windows tend to move out of my screen That notifications don't pop up on my screen but only in the little box that looks like a letter is probably some setting I didn't find yet. Better looks, same performance, but less stable than the previous version.

  16. I always used that, even with V2, in fact, when I tried phönix it was one of many things I missed, but maybe I just wasn't patient enough to search for it
  17. Errm, after reading how nice the new firestorm is I decided to download and install it, and well, there are no buttons, not toolbar, nothing ... I would have asked inworld at the Firestorm/phönix group (I am sure something like that exists, but now toolbar, no button, no search ...) What am I missing? Ringht now I can do exactly ... nothing ... I can't even ask somebody around me because I am alone at my home and of course, I don't have access to my Landmarks ... Edit: After a clean install it worked fine, performance is good so far, but I have to get used to it before I decide if I like it or not.
  18. I had the same when I logged in SL the first time, and I was using some Graphics card where I really wasn't sure what it is at that time. I replaced this (rather old) graphics card with a decent one and never had this problem again. I was using V2 as well, and I didn't know about phönix then. I don't know if that helps you, but it's how I was able to solve it in may case. @Theresa: Of course I dind't know about utrning off "Use OpenGL Vertex Buffer Objects", maybe thatwould have fixed it as well. On the other hand, buying a new graphics card brought some other benefits as well

  20. I guess his business runs bad and he is trying to compensate it that way No, seriously, it can happen that no copy stuff disappears when you return it, and for that reason it may have been a good idea to tell the person to pick her stuff up by herself, otherwise it will be returned by you on their own risk (SL is still eating things sometimes). LL has noway told him to hold you liable for that, if they have responded they may have told him to talk to you since they don't interfere with resident-to-resident business. And as others pointed out already, 8'000 Ls is riduculos for a DJ booth.
  21. Got to fully agree about the part with identity theft, Peggy, it is considered a serious crime, and if the owner of the identity agreed to the use of it he may run into troubles as well. If payment information is attached to the account then it shouldn't be a problem to proof ownership of the account (but why use someone elses identity then ....) Anyway, Swedishfox, make sure your friend is using passwords with some strength (not only letters but numbers and special characters as well) in general, to not tell passwords to anybody and to not click on every damned link that pops up. I wonder anyway why people treat their online stuff so careless, the don't hand their wallet to strangers and don't enter suspicious looking cars of strangers in RL, all the same they switch off their brain while being online and end up with a SL account they can't use anymore, probably with a lot of Ls spent over time (just an example, I can imagine much worse things). Your friend should be happy to have lost nothing more serious than an SL account, treat it as experience and learn something.
  23. This used to happen to me from time to time as well, but it increased al ot during the last week or so, sometimes I don't even get the message, it just doesn't rezz leaving me with a kind of strange feeling since I don't know if I just have lost another few nano prims somewhere in my shop or on my sim. I was better yesterday, but still had a few attempts where stuff didn't rezz ...
