@Mara Crisp If you changed your name, you should be able to see it in world as your new name. If you don’t, your name didn’t change. If your credit card was charged and you don’t see a name change, you should open a ticket with Linden Labs.

I never really had trouble with this until subdividing and joining land. Like I said, going over everything that could have been encroaching short of removing everything on the parcel never helped. We'll see what Linden Labs says if they respond to my support ticket.

I couldn't agree more, like I said, they can create alts and keep on cheating people. The problem is how easy it is to create alts, among other things. The best way is to buy land so you can control your own experience.

@linkthelion, as much as I love kids, when a child tries to have me force adopt them, they are tossed out of my life quickly. The others are right about partners, and that can't be without consent on your part. If someone is running around saying "that's my parent", anyone who knows you will know otherwise. From my experience, those situations burn out faster than they start.

@Kayla Whittaker It's classic SecondLife. I see people get banned from my parcel and then a mysterious new person comes to visit right after, same groups, same interests. I always tell people, especially if you are partnered, protect yourself. Never be on a poseball afk when others can jump on and take pictures. I have seen some ugly things come of that in the past. As for this other one who is making up stories, I sometimes have fun with them when they come. I just respond with enough comments like "oh", "wow", "I see", "yeah", and let them bury themselves before filing it all in a report. After all, Linden Labs wants a complete report. 😃

@lululucylu, I am so sorry you are going through this. It happened to me before too. I can't say there was a direct relation to this working, but I'd like to think it did. As a premium member, I opened a support ticket with Linden Labs about the harassment and the mountain of evidence, and made it clear my business was on the line. Within a few days, the griefing stopped for what seemed to be no apparent reason. I am guessing that person was tended to, but haven't heard a word since.

That would be a good suggestion for Linden Labs, to have a rating system, or "Better Business Bureau" for landlords and merchants. It may not solve everything, but being able to leave feedback on someone's business dealings can at least enlighten other residents. Of course, they could just create alts and keep cheating people. I know this won't solve the problem you have now, @Jettanna, but the best way to get away from landlords and those dealings is to purchase your own land. Then you have control over it. It comes with a cost, but I have found it to be worthwhile.

I have 2 parcels which are next to each other and own them both. One is group owned (Parcel 1), the other is personally owned (Parcel 2). When I am standing on Parcel 1, the prim counts, rezzed items, everything seems perfectly normal. I click on About Land and Script Info, and it shows me information for Parcel 2. I've removed any encroaching objects, made sure everything was group owned properly, just have no idea why I can't see script information for Parcel 1. If I stand on Parcel 2, I see Script Info properly for Parcel 2. Does anyone have ideas? I filed a support ticket several days ago without a response yet.

I can see the value in a 0 second orb, although maybe I am a little more gentle than Pussycat. 😃 If I am home with my partner or sleeping, I don't want someone to have access to our place, be able to walk around or even take pictures. It defeats a lot of purposes. Why turn off interacting with avatars on other parcels when they can just come in for a time and see you anyway? As a landowner, I have plenty of warning signs saying the property is private. If someone violates that on purpose, then they should be removed. I also agree that my experience shouldn't be wrecked by chasing down someone and ejecting them. I paid for premium membership and my land, whoever violated my warnings didn't. Why should I feel like a prisoner in my own home that I can't secure my own property or sit on a couch or lay on a bed when I go afk?

How I did my land was divided it into 2 parcels, one parcel was for public access and the other was secured for our home. I also set it so people couldn't interact with us when we were on our parcel. I also set a security orb which controls the whole parcel. The other public parcel, I just use the blacklist if I have to. I hope this helps.

My aunt's account was hacked. All LL could do for her was restore the inventory they deleted, but she was out the L$ that was transferred out. It's a constant reminder to be safe in living your life in SecondLife.

You may want to take that up with LL yourself. None of us control what LL does.

I had that problem last week and it seemed to be fixed on Sunday morning. Traffic is all about placement on search like Alyona said. It wasn't a hardship, everything else worked. Traffic just tells people searching that your land isn't abandoned. People who know your land or business exist aren't looking at traffic numbers, they will just come.

Sadly sweetie, nothing in SecondLife is forever, and sometimes things can end suddenly. The hardest thing to do in a marriage is keep healthy relationships and friendships outside your marriage. It's hard because you want to be with your partner most of the time. I know after my marriage ended after 2 years, a lot of friends felt like strangers. It was a lot of work rebuilding that life again.

My family was built somewhat organically from very deep relationships over the years. My sisters are like sisters, and some have asked if my SL mom is also my RL mom, we have such chemistry (I am an adult child with my own family to my parents). I have great kids, but all these relationships and more took time to build. Usually if you try to enter a family quickly you're likely going to leave it even faster. Once I started seeing deep friendships forming about 7-8 years ago, I asked about becoming sisters. Then my sisters met. I met my mom, she married and had a dad. My children came along as close friends, my brother, his kids, it just kept going on. Another option is if you are looking for a family, marry into one. Chances are your future partner's family will click with you if you reach out to them and be a good partner and outgoing with them. Even another idea is look for roleplay communities, likely families exist in them.

The answer is that "Select Only Locked Objects was checked" in Build and Options.

Hello, I am not sure if it's something I did in my viewer, but all of the sudden when I edit an object and select face, I keep seeing "nothing selected". If I were to click on something else, it shows "nothing selected", whereas I used to be able to change between objects, whether it be in my house, or I am wearing them. These are objects I have owned or created, and could select face on before. This has to be something with my viewer. It can't be permissions, and this happens at home on my own land. Any advice or ideas?

Thank you everyone for the replies. I didn't think anything was wrong with the group, but more what could have happened to the other resident. We'll see how the support ticket goes and will post if I find out anything. Premium comes with support, so I might as well use it once in a while. =)

Some things should be considered sacred and not to be joked about. I knew someone that faked their own death here and when she came back, might as well have died in SL. Everyone turned their backs on her for doing it. You can't change a deceased condition.

I would think that once an account is requested to be deleted, that everything would stop showing in search relatively quickly. For example, I rarely, if ever, search for a location in SL that gives me a bad landmark. Usually everything there seems updated quickly. Maybe location and people search works differently.

This seems to happen way too often, sadly. But, in this case, she has only been gone barely a month but is a SL premium member. So, maybe the account is delinquent and never downgraded to basic? I'm not sure if that is an automatic transaction. I just have mine renew every year.

Thank you Cindy, Alwin, and Claireschen. I don't think the 2 groups we checked would fall in the limit. Mine is barely 100 members and the other is not much more. Maybe the best recourse would be a support ticket since my group was one of those affected.
