  2. If anyone's interested, here are the "secret" areas on the old Linden Homes Continents:

    Underground Temple (click wall)
    http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Kolbird/173/106/39

    Secret underground chamber
    http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Threesun/64/112/38

    underground hangout
    http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Blendard/102/140/29

    Linden/Mole Humour (read plaque)
    http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Budsic/144/126/38

underground cave, click on the ground to open the secret passage
    http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Goffs/63/110/38

    underground tunnel
    http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Calico/98/140/29

    underground cavern, at cape ekim
    http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Cape Ekim/17/182/27

From the landing site, there are 2 options:

    1) Cheat, and use a tiny avi, and walk over the rocks to fall in a tiny gap

    2) Head to the lighthouse in the NE corner, and head down the staircase until you come to a solid wall.
At this point, look for the "seashell" on the wall, and click it to open the secret door (there is another on the other side)
Follow the secret passageway back along until you enter the caves, you come to a locked door with a combination lock - the lock is very difficult to line up
so the suggestion is to cam to the other side of the door to use the button there, or sit on one of the thrones.

When you are inside the secret cavern, there is another secret passageway., look for the green panel on the floor at

       http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Cape Ekim/168/86/21

and click on the floor in the water.  Go down the stairs to the skeleton and click on his
        briefcase

    Racers Gulch

    Seaplane Ramp

    Tahoe Infohub

Bet'cha Governance is buried with "He won't stop touching me!" and encroachment reports.

Things I have needed Support for:

    • Governance forgot to enable physics on a mainland simulator after dealing with replicating garbage
    • Autonomous vehicles were crashing a mainland simulator because of some newly introduced simulator bug
    • Script time for idle scripts has crept up over time and is causing a mainland simulator to be unusable
    • A required service or capability is unavailable after maintenance resulting in non-enterable regions or other debilitating issues

And yes, these do result in abandoned events and lost revenue when renters bail, on mainland regions.  Mainland owners are even more stuck than estate owners because we have fewer tools to use and much less authority over the land.

    Ardy,

Let me make a heart filled statement -

thank you for speaking your common sense.

@Adamburp Adamczyk The in-world groups and meetings are ( in my experience) of extremely limited value and it has seemed to me that some Lindens exhibit selective deafness when it comes to some topics.

For me they are of limited value due to my SL and RL lifestyle ( OK my loss).

My point is that communication with the SL user-base is just inadequate. To say that security concerns define what should be divulged begs the question.

I agree that when it does happen, communication is of a very high order...unfortunately it is very rare and really needs to improve.

I value my SL very highly, so I will persevere, but I will also probably be condemned as a "malcontent". Such is life.

Just seems a bit pointless to post a thread complaining over stuff that already has a solution is all 😏

So, we begin a new week.  There was nothing rolled to the RC channels last week, so we should not expect anything on Main Server this week, obviously.

What we are still being starved of is information on what is being done "behind the scenes" on " back-end" services.

It has become a tradition within SL that such information is not disclosed to users.  It is a tradition that must end.

Personally, I am sick and tired of being treated like a mushroom.

I am NOT an idiot and I can cope with erratic services providing there is some explanation.

This information vacuum is typical but this time it is unreasonable.  Are we to believe that Linden Research's new owners have so hamstrung LL that they DARE not tell us what (or how little) is actually being done?

Currently SL is seeing the highest concurrency numbers for years.  That will not last long unless we see some sort of route- map for the significant work that is still needed to get SL working properly again.

Why not just go to the Developer meeting with Simon Oz and Rider - then you can ask your questions.

As regards to information sharing, personally I think it's the best it's ever been.  We have in-world user groups where you can attend in person and ask questions, some Lindens such as Patch and Oz often post on here to answer queries.

If there's a big outage we often get a blog post from them so people know.  *Maybe* whatever they're doing is just something boring, or something to improve security.

  7. @Patch Linden

    @Ebbe Linden

    @Tommy Linden

    @Brett Linden

    @Derrick Linden

This would be a good topic for any future Town Hall meeting, the hours that support are accessible for urgent stuff.

With SL's user base being all over the world, having 24/7 access to Support would be ideal.

Well color me kind and you NOT... Orwar, at this point i am disintereted in you completely. your history and statements everywhere show you as you wish...  I have no energy for your type of "discussion" , and never will. thank you for your input. You are correct, you are not needed here. lol

My feelings aren't hurt. You people who hope so, will find yourselves wasting your energy. please don't. I am a professional troll killer...haha

with what I have been through, SL griefers are my ab fave !! There's no telling whats going on in there... no tellling. I assume the worst and let them be

As for other peeps who made comments, if what you said was in ANY way accusatory, or rude, believe me you've ALREADY been ignored. its not that hard.

this post has outlived its use.

I have learned more and changed some things, and been advised to begin again. Than is what I am going to do. I have met one possible person interested so far, so....

    I don''t quit.

    THANK YOU

YOU ARE ALL VERY SWEET ( even orwar who really was  an UNNECESSARY jerk to me ) ( I mean, don't we all know by know that bullying and bull***** is wrong??)

Its black and white people! Never gray

    read my post above.

So I can finally respond to this post well!

I feel I should respond for ORWAR first, who has not graced us with a response, because

Orwar is a person who responds to respond, not to discuss. These types should be ignored until something useful comes out of them. This is not to say he is useless in general, he has many posts and he is even funny. He has a good sense of humor, and is intelligent enough. All this being said, I wrote him personally, to be kind, and explain that I changed my mind because of him, harsh or not... but he did not even have the tact to answer me at all... Let us just be at peace with this for now. Perhaps he will show up at a later date....

I decided to change the original post from Females only to Everyone for a few reasons, and some other edits/ additions

    1. being that one of my Fave things about SL, is the fact that you can BE ANYTHING, not just anyone, but ANYTHING. requiring knowledge of Gender would ruin this, for me and others.

    2. New and beautiful gender discoveries are happening every day, and I would not want any hesitation pertaining to this subject, to stand in the way of someone finding a place to feel safe and talk. That is not who I want to be, so you be who you want to be. Relationships will evolve as they should, and naturally. Gender will not even be questioned.

    3. I will also be editing the post to be PARENTAL ABUSE for now. There were suggestions that Narcissism is not widely diagnosed/ many don't know this is what is happening, so in order to be even more inclusive, I will be making this edit.

    4. I will edit to include the kinds of activities I hope to lead/teach, and a few types of leaders/teachers we might have use for as well.

I thank all of you for your input, tolerations, and interest. Many of you made suggestions I hope it is clear I was listening, if not, write me or post again. Sorry

I am not a born leader or anything, I love to teach and share but I have never run a group or implemented something people might rely in the way this might go.

I am nervous, and I am excited, and I just want to help, and in the process, help  myself too...

As I said I edited a bunch so , re-read, and criticize away! I can take it. I need it.

Just do what I do, and many others do, as per the standard Governance advice - mute those who just try to hijack your thread,  you'll feel a lot better.

Posts can only be edited within 24 hours - after that you've only the option to report the post and ask a moderator to delete it.  You could perhaps ask for this topic to be locked and start afresh with a new title - the one you want - and with the new topic explained.

Garnet has a LOT of common sense ideas.

Nope. The volcano pictured in the background has been there about 10 years and not a Linden one.

The bridge I am on is Michael Linden built, I don't know its history... presumably the remains of some sort of Japanese visitor area.

Any ideas on the region the bridge is in?

  12. I've used Voodoo products for over 6 years and never had an issue,  their security device has *never* triggered my media filter, at ANY place that uses it.  So no, it doesn't use the "media exploit".  If you want to see for yourselves visit my sim Mystery Caye with your filter set to on, you'll only see my 80's stream.

In terms of "IP logging" for a sploder it's determined by each individual sploder owner whether to use this setting or not, in order to stop a person using a billion alts to "game the system".  And the Sploder owner does NOT see any personal info.

One thing that Is important to know about the sploders: when a person clicks the sploder to enter, and the "verify" function is in use, then they get a CLEAR warning message that "clicking verify WILL log your IP address", in various languages.  This puts the choice whether to enter or not FIRMLY in the hands of the user.  So hardly "IP farming" when the user is prompted to make a CLEAR and INFORMED decision.

So yes GDPR compliant too - as the user has to give CLEAR consent to enter.

Thanks. Do Linden people have birthday parties or something? SL gotta be good for parties. I went to a wedding one time. That was pretty nice.

Just me and my daft sense of humour eyeye - I tend to wish pretty much everyone I encounter a happy birthday.

I think it is a wonderful opportunity to experience what it is like to be part of a cancelled culture and develop a real empathy for those who are under such a thing in R/L.

As to the OP, I wouldn't actually mind being in isolation for 10 days as long as I have my computer and a working internet. Can you imagine these lockdowns if those weren't available? I've tried in meditation to get a sense of what that would be like. Like what a prisoner must feel like when they are put in solitary. Be enough i think to drive many quite mad.

I had my PC, Second Life, subscription TV, exercise bike, video calling facilities, ebooks, and my own reflection in the mirror to keep me busy, but still, it was far harder than I had imagined.  There's only so much TV you can watch before you crave a brisk hike on the hills if you're used to it.
