  1. The left demo is always an upset to me too. I will never understand why anyone sees it as being hard to make a demo look presentable, it is selling your product. Often is the case that I buy the colour shown in the demo, because if not a standard colour it opens my eyes to the joy of it, so it has lead to more purchasing than intended prior.

The cost of 10L vs losing a customer is too high a price to pay IMO, also if they are just reusing the same demo every time, as it looks there on the left, you don't see any of the bake etc that you do on the right. If it is mesh, add rings, add a box, do some branding not like no one has never tpd to another location or stood looking great in a demo and gotten another potential customers attention. Also enticing me with the fatpack options but making it clear that is what they are is an upsell as well.

  2. I want to see the worn tab too, I got turned into snoopy once, it was awesome cell shading and all. But not knowing how to get back is rough, and weird that character test is not working, it should at least work on the shape etc, if not attachments I would think.

  3. I find this post interesting. In some cases the marketplace reviews are an in the moment bad reaction to something that has very little to do with fact, it is rare to see anyone happy with something that does a review when they buy it, it is sometimes much later when they stumble across the ability to do so. The bad ones however are seconds after it drops, so are sometimes guided by misunderstandings of how the product works at all, or some kind of misunderstanding of Second Life as they may be new.

There is also a disconnect for some that think that what they say there always reaches the creator and use it like some kind of IM guarantee, which is not the case, as often the emails that a review has been left go awol and are not seen at all. Then they carry that anger believing they did what they were meant to to get a customer support reaction. As far as blocking use of an item, if a Refund is given, and the item is no transfer to return it, then it would be a mutually guaranteed acceptable reaction. I have heard of people getting into arguments over products though and it costing the customer in the use of the product and that is wrong to do, if someone bought something and even if they go off their mind one day and start talking in tongues, that is whatever that is, but they payed for the product, so it is theirs to use.

Regardless of how you feel in the moment, you can learn to use something, can learn to enjoy something and to be fair you can forget the history of the item, you can forget you had an issue, and that you were a crazy person, and you can use the item from your inventory only remembering you bought this thing and now like using it. Updates may have happened etc, and now it works how you wished it had, if it was refunded then yes, the customer should pay for it again, but lets just hope that what they do if they didn't do that is tell everyone how great it is, let people know to buy it, buy it for others and so on, that one customer may in fact make you other customers for life, because sometimes the ones that are loudest in the negative are often also loudest in the positive.

  4. Mistakes can happen, even if you are aware of the way in which RLV works, there are other reasons to have it activated, but you can still get 'captured' that was why I came to look. I was once visiting a store and ended up walking too close to a cage on display in the garden of the store, and sure enough I ended up trapped and unable to get out, because there was no option to accept etc. I think I did click on it, but not to be trapped as I was in my mindset in a commercial location, so just as you may decide to check out the animations on a sofa in a store for furniture etc. We had to contact the creator and have them remove me, because logging back in trapped me over and over, I could have gone elsewhere but I wanted to be where I was with my partner. It also meant if ever returning to the sim it would snare me again, so best to get it dealt with.

In regards to a 'collar' when I joined SL it was with the mindset of anything looking like that was a 'choker' as in a piece of jewellery/accessory. I bought one and was wearing it when a friend told me I could not wear them that way as it would just be a public declaration that I was collared. I was really annoyed at that, that they can't just be wearables, that was a long time ago though, now you can just wear a collar and it is just what it is, the only reason a collar means something is when there is someone it also means something to, and the scripts can be in anything, throw them in your favourite shoes, hair whatever, it does not have to be a collar at all.

  5. back to the Turbo Squid thing.... years ago I communicated with a TS staff member about the possibility of using some purchased pieces in world, not to sell just as event decoration, it was hard to find things on theme in world at all that were not a billion prims etc and so on. The reason they gave to not allow Second Life to use Turbo Squid content, was not only the reselling of items ( at the time that was not actually clear in their TOS but we wanted to be 100% sure of everything ) , it was more to do with the fact that Second Life had copybotting and ways to extract assets that would mean those models made by Joe and sold by Joe to John to sell or use, could be taken by Sam and sold to Stan and May , Marge and Monica could get their mitts on them too. So it was a lot more to do with the security or lack thereof in world that they had issues with. This is however 7 years ago just after Mesh hit the grid, so all sorts of additional reasons now most likely, as this was when very few were actually making mesh in Second Life yet. It is hard to have hard and fast rules until someone comes along and does something you did not know you did not want someone to do, so all of those kind of sites have had to adjust accordingly.

Yes the original Mesh to upload test we all had to take was full on know your rules and laws with copyright and the like, it was LL's way of making very sure you had no excuse to say you did not know, did not stay long enough, because now when you say 'but you did that course you know this' they can go 'what course etc'

I recently watched a humorous you tube video describing the "ins and outs" of making  "matpakke" the traditional Norwegian packed lunch.  One of the popular ingredients is a  "Stabburet Leverpostei"  a canned liver pate product.  The label on the can simply has an image an adorable grinning child, not a child eating a sandwich or a picture of the actual contents.  Foreigners  might infer from the label that the can contains pate made from adorable children, as, in many places,  a food label would always be expected to reveal a picture of the contents.  False advertising?

does it come with fava beans ? (could not help myself 😛 )

I have sometimes, but a few times I've just been too embarrassed to

never be embarassed, inventories sometimes do not show all things, sometimes you just love something so much seeing it again is exciting and you buy it for the same reason you already did  :) I know personally if I was to see that a customer had purchased something twice I would make sure to get in touch and refund, but it is not always possible to see that.

oh that is really great!  I can't tell you how many times I have bought the same thing by accident having forgotten that I bought it before. D'oh!

If you have done that, have you contacted the seller, usually double purchases are refunded.

added : I just went to MP to test it out, and I saw I had something in my cart, I went to buy it and the price had dropped since saving it two days ago, so double thanks on that @LittleMe Jewell

    Hello

I have a terrain in Blender made of 4 segments linked together. I upload them one by one in Second Life. I've never succeeded in joining them. There is always a gap between the segments. What should I do to join them perfectly like they do in Blender ?

    Thank you

are you not able to upload them into SL as a coalesced item then when rezzed they should be still fitting eachother but unlinkable etc

that is why I demo hair...

always always always, even if you have every style someone has created, if the one time a rig breaks or something is wrong, you can at least let the creator know so they can fix it. DEMOS FOR LIFE!

  11. I have too many tentacles in too many oceans, so you would have to be awful to be muted/blocked by me, because I always worry that if they had to contact for support for something I am a part of, then I would not see it, and my personal issue with someone is not the same as them receiving customer support etc. I have never been under attack though, and I appreciate that there are such tools that can stop someone being harassed/stalked etc. I hate when I hear of someone changing accounts or having to close of any communication other than friends etc because of someone just trying to destroy their time in world. No one should have to feel so isolated in SL.

  12. Governor Linden is like the Beatle you did not know about. I once tp'd to a meeting and the name came up on radar as leaving and I about snapped my RL neck somehow thinking if I moved in RL fast enough I could catch them.

The Lindens should replace the bears with Bingo Cards, so we can check off Lindens when spotted a bit like bird watchers, I want to catch a Commerce Linden, that would be the big win I think :D but yes the Governance Lindens are the ones that pull stolen content off the walls or did in the past. You would see them darting in and out of places.

    The hierarchy of Second Life.

because there is no actual water in that refrigerator, all I keep seeing is the potential to put my mesh head in there on a shelf to cool down. Seeing as it is a million degrees in Oz right now, the option to do that would be bliss. Also the filling the furry tub with ice and just laying in it, also a good idea.

Furry confusion was huge a decade ago, and a lot of that came from Gor sims, banning, attacking etc, before anyone loses their mind, this is truth...when Gor Masters used to walk around SL with 'girls' and be outright open chat disgraceful towards Furries, it was a potential minefield, then on top of that people going to furry sims to cause drama, and so it got to the point that furries rarely left Furnation, so it ended up like being imprisoned for a lot of people. It was horrible, and yet Furries were so open to others, and so advanced in scripting and modification options, they were the start of a lot of things like prim hair for instance. I used to have a lot of furry cubbie friends when I was newer, and they would visit me at work, because i had all the powers so if anyone was rude they would be booted, It was like being a Disney Princess walking around with little cubbies following closely behind nattering on askins about this and that. The cubbies were also many years before kid avatars that were acceptable and not ***** etc.

I did not know this was still really a thing, the hate factor, because the bigger communiities faded off due to land pricing etc, with huge Gorean chains of sims, Vampire sims like Transylvania, and the Furnations and Calledons etc, it seemed more like everyone was just everywhere. BareRose was one of the most Fur Friendly mainstreamesque stores, her ads combining skins and furries were epic for the time June Dion is an Icon :D

Said that, none of my toons will ever buy a timeout demo

There were bits and pieces of this said throughout, but I wanted to be crystal clear, because it is very important. Did you mean you just won't try a demo that has a timer? or that you would not buy the final product because you were subjected to a timer? I find that it is often very unclear if a demo is a timer at all until you are trying it, and in my example silly story, I did not catch that fact at all.
I also when timers were a new thing, freaked out on trying a demo and finding no demo signs nothing but the real item, and contacted the creator in a panic that they had boxed their final item in the demo by mistake, this item did not even have a message just some random line in the notecard that came with that I did not read until after the fact and had to IM creator again once my heart stopped racing to say sorry my mistake.
If there were big signs at the point of procuring a demo that said TIMED DEMO etc, would that make it a better decision, as in maybe trying it at home if chance of naked, or just making sure you are not distracted and the time is enough time and so on ?

I am really interested in the thoughts on this from all

Not true. You have a choice to show your appreciation for a premium gift by snapping a photo and putting it on a blog or Twitter or Flickr or some other non-Facebook property where you are not required to have a RL name. You are not "forced" to use the Destinations/FB hook-up as it is now just because it's there.

You can put Destinations you like on Twitter or Flickr or anywhere besides FB. I do this all the time. I am not particularly interested in liking Destination pages as my RL self, but I do sometimes more for the sake of signalling to other people in SL that it is a good place than anyone in RL who won't care. But I do much more posting on non-FB social media as my avatar. That's why I simply won't accept this "I'm being forced" or "I have no choice". You do have a choice. It requires making a little more effort and not getting instant gratification on the Destinations page with the chosen LL option, that's all.

I do agree that it would be nice if the "Destinations" machine linked not just to FB, but to Flickr, Twitter, Instagram, whatever, to other places where an avatar can make an account without fear. It's a question of adding widgets that we've all added with a few paste-ups on blogs so it's not that big a deal. Yes, it means adding widgets to thousands of pages.

You keep saying 'like' which is not what the original poster was saying. You keep refering to other options outside of the page, also not what was wanted. @Tenly is saying that to make any comment on the Destination Guide and ONLY that area of the website (as far as I know) you 'have to' log into Facebook to comment. Say the page suddenly started showing horrifying images or the words used were offensive, she cannot comment there so that it is seen because to do so she has to log into facebook which she only has her RL connected to. If they went down this road for all their pages, or even forums, it would be cutting out a large chunk of the user base.
You have a fake facebook, she does not, many do not, they do not want to comment on the SL destination guide with their RL, because it could lead to their RL having opinions on their use of SL, or it could help people they do not like find them etc. So many reasons to not want to connect the two together.

This has nothing to do with showing appreciation with a click, this has to do with not being able to use your words without adding a different medium (social media) this is about not staying within the parameters you feel comfortable with as your Second Life persona inside of the Second Life channels, they have taken her out of the world she has created and skidded right into making a public declaration of her usage. That is a bit rude, it is like buying on a website and them already having your message to Facebook set up to announce you just bought something, which Amazon does and which as an Aussie is a new thing to me and is gross.

For some Second Life is a safe space, more so than for others, but should be for all, forced connectivity to other sites is wrong, imaging Marketplace doing what Amazon does and you didn't notice and bam! suddenly your FB wall knows you just bought that ________________________

like hand painted/hand drawn skins with lots of contrast. Years ago, I started off with Blowpup skins, then went to &Bean. But I can’t find many skins of this type today

With baked on mesh coming soon, your old skins have a chance of working, i used the baked on mesh beta (the one time it let me) and found an old &bean skin she made to make funds to spend at hairfair lol it was awesome seeing it on my LeLutka head that is baked on mesh ready. It may be worth logging into that viewer with some demo heads and seeing if you like the look, also some birdy and tres blah skins, hand drawn looks great. Nylon Pinkney has made some of hers with appliers now too

I could probably cover my premium accounts with my tips but it's already set up to get charged to my credit card.  I suppose I could cash out the lindens to pay the creditcard but that seem like too much work.

If you have the tips to cover it, you could look at converting your money to usd from lindens and if you leave it there they take that for your account payment, tier etc first, that way you do not suffer any additional transaction fees, international fees if relevant and so on,  something to check on at least it could leave you more money to spend in the long run :)

When I import them I noticed my avis fingers will wiggle and move giving off an animation instead of being completely still. Everything else on the avi is still but the fingers and slight hand movements.

Are you wearing mesh hands that are bento and may have animations included making your hands and fingers move ? if you yourself did not add them as far as I know they should not move at all.

I was speaking to an acquaintance in Second Life, this morning and they were telling me about a new business venture that they were going to be entering into surrounding Animesh. It sounded exciting and I wished them well but I declined the invitation to join because I am taking on some new projects and anything more would reach outside of my Second Life budget. When he heard that I had a budget for Second Life, he laughed.

I can't be the only one that practices budgeting in Second Life.

Did you ask for clarifcation on the laughing, aside from seeming rude, is it because he has an unlimited resource of money so thinks everyone is the same, or is it more of a oh wow people do that chuckle because not that organised?
I have never budgeted for SL I spend what I want to spend from what I make, and what is left goes out, I am old enough to remember when stipend was a much bigger deal as in people not shopping until it was stipend day, and with stores releasing usually on that day it was all very organised. I think you sticking to your budget is a great thing. I really like the examples, like separate accounts and misc. entertainment money etc. I have purchased twice in SL and the first buy when brand new, I justified it as the cost of a Sims expansion that I would buy without hesitation and some of them sucked lol so I thought if I spend 25 USD and I end up not staying, not really anything lost.....nearly 13 years later best 25 dollars I ever spent :D

  20. I think they are all amazing, if you want people to rate them, maybe number each picture so they can do so in order possibly. I think they are all with their own charm, so I would only be rating what I would like personally, without knowing you I could not rate what I would like you in best. 1 5 7 and 8 are very cool but they are really seriously all awesome :)
