You have two choices, maybe: (1) Adjust the shoes or (2) adjust your feet.  Most designers assume that you will have size 0 feet, so it's probably a good idea to start there.  You can adjust your sliders in Appearance to get your feet to "SL Standard" size easily enough.  If you'd rather not do that, or if your feet are already size 0, then you have to adjust the shoes.

All adjustments are easier if you are standing, immobile, on a pose stand.  If you don't have one, look in Marketplace or almost anywhere in SL for a freebie.

Your shoe may simply need to be moved left-right, forward-back, or up-down.  You can do that by just selecting a shoe with your Build Edit tool (CTRL +3) and then using the red, blue, or green arrows to move the shoe.  If the shoe is actually the wrong size, you may not be able to do anything unless you have mod perms on it.  If you do, then make a backup copy of the shoe first.  Then select "Stretch" in your Build Edit tool and then gently grab one of the white boxes that appear at the corners of your shoe. Move that white box carefully until the shoe looks good to you.

Hello Kristina and welcome to SL Forums. Are they shoes with prim feet? If so, read the instuctions, i guess they are included. Use a pose stand and be sure that you wear all parts (shoe base, left and right show and maybe alpha layers). Usually shoes with prim feet come with a hud. You have to wear it also. With the hud you try to fit the skin as better as you can. About resizing. If shoes have a script about, click the shoes and you will get a pop up window where you change the size.
