I am seeing black flashing blotches while using viewer 2. This is not happening with phoenix

For the past several days, i am seeing black fashing blotches while using viewer 2, which makes using it impossible.  I am not having this difficulty with phoenix at all.  I have tried switching around the graphics settings with no positive change. 

Please advise

Hello Sicily and welcome to SL Forums. It is a problem with your graphics. Try to disable VBO (under Preferences --> Graphics --> Hardware) and also Http textures under Menu Develop (Ctrl+Alt+Q) and see if that makes any difference.

To solve graphics problems it really helps to know more about your system and viewer. Click Help->About and copy paste the info.

Viewer versions prior to 3.0.0 are no longer available for download. They are also a long ways behind the developement curve. 3.2.5 is the main viewer now. 3.2.6 is the Beta version now. You can try the beta to see if that solves the problem.

The 3.2.5 has many of the OpenGL fixes. So, check your OpenGL version (Help->About) to see if it is a version 2 or 3. OpenGL is updated by the video driver maker. So, check your video driver and see if it is up todate.

It could be one of the many graphics bugs in Viewer 2.  However, if you have not updated the viewer recently, and the problem only began recently, it could be that the graphics card in your computer is going bad.  Download and install the free utility GPU-Z and have a look at the voltages and temperatures on your card while running SL.  If the temps are going above 60 deg C, pop your case covers and check your fans for proper operation and the inside of your case for dust buildup.  Re-seat the card and its power connections.
