Ok, here's the situation.  An alt of mine was with another avatar, intimately, recently (1am SL time on 9/12/11).  The other avatar was of legal age when I originally met them.  However, the following day, this avatar informs me that it was their 17 yr old son instead of them at that time, but there was no indication in our original dialog that it wasn't anyone but the RL adult in charge of the avatar.

Now they are threatening to have me banned from SL because of this.  Should I be concerned about this, even though they have no proof other than their word, as far as I know of?  And if I do get banned, what recourse do I have?  File RL child endangerment and false entrapment charges?

Any help in this is appreciated.

What country is the 17 year old in? (Age of consent in UK is 16, so although a 46 yo with a 16 yo is frowned upon, it's not illegal.)

And if this is true, what sort of parent allows their kid access to their account without some sort of supervision?

Anyway, if it were me, I'd submit an AR to LL, on the grounds of someone letting another person access their account.

And I'd get my jollies with a BRB/magazine/regular pornsite in future.

The minor in question is 17 years old according to the OP.  You can't report the minor as "underaged" since being in SL at age 16 now is perfectly legal.  The problem is that there was intimacy between an adult and a legally minor child (under the age of 18 in the US which is the law LL has to enforce).  The incident should definitely be reported by the OP as soon as possible (like right now) but reporting as underage is not a good idea since since underage is now under 16, not 18 like earlier this year.

To the OP submit an Abuse Report.  I don't know what the catagories are anymore since it's been a few years since I've had to report abuse.......if "Underage" is the closest, then use it (but make sure you explain it was an intimate relationship with the minor and you had no knowledge of the person being under 18 at the time........basically explain just like you did here for us).  Include the chat logs (yeah, even those imbarrassing words of woo and seduction).  I believe LL will handle it fairly.  They have access to everyone's chat logs on the entire grid so they can see what transpired and what was said and not said.  If you can give an approximate time when this started and stopped I'm sure that will help the abuse team hone in on the relevant conversations.  Be prepared to answer some direct questions.  LL doesn't take stuff like this lightly.........the can't.  They could be shut down, even prosecuted criminally.  Be cooperative.

The early part of this year SL suddenly became a much more dangerous place for adults.........be very careful who you interact with.

Report it like the others said,, but you couldn't have much to worry about after all he was`t allowed to be in M rated place to start with you didt do anything wrong ,, sound like they just trying to mess with ya head and what they did was brokering a TOS in first place,, 2 you  was told they was of legal age then they change there story later that could be reported had others said you have no need to worry because LL got the all chat that took place. you just can't be blame for unknowing about  ages because he couldn't be on it in the first place. They be the one getting in deep crap here not you they trick ya and miss lead you.

If a user is under 18 years old & their avatar is in a Moderate (Mature) or Adult region, they are still underage as per the TOS because 16 & 17 year olds are supposed to remain in General (PG) regions. If on the other hand, you were engaging in simulated intimate activity in a General (PG) region, then you would both be at fault for that, no matter what age you are in RL.

Definitely report the other account, as no one is supposed to be sharing their account, let alone with a minor.

Roseysun has a good point, except for this line "Make sure the person has actually admitted underage status in his or her own words in inworld chat (for example by saying, "I'm fourteen"). We cannot accept hearsay, rumors, or admissions made on external instant messaging programs or any areas outside of Second Life."

the parents telling you is was their son, is heresay. but i would report the matter anyway

I doubt if anyone will find out the answer to those questions.  I'm not sure LL can come to a definite conclusion either but they do have access to more information that any of us.  All any of us can do is to take the word of the OP and offer advice.........which is what the OP asked of us.

It doesn't matter where the incident took place.  It doesn't even matter that the guardian of the suspected minor allowed access to the minor  (against the ToS).  What matters is that someone claiming to be a minor as threatened to "report" an incident that is clearly against the ToS and US laws to the authorities.  That, alone, is enough to do anything and everything necessary to protect yourself.  If the worse that might happen is a ban or suspension from SL then it would not be quite as serious.............but this could get the OP into real life trouble with the law.  Sure, the likihood of anything coming of it is slim...........but no one knows who this "minor" is or who this minor's guardian is.  It just takes someone filing a criminal complaint and all hell breaks loose.  I'm trying to get it through to the OP to act now.  Get it all on the record with LL and out in the open just in case this minor decides it would be fun to "mess with the OP a little".  Legal expenses, I'm sure no one budgeted for when joining SL........and certainly not being branded for a sex crime.  SL is not the place it was just a year ago.

Hit first and hit hard. If they are threatening you like this, then "not wanting to get them banned" is out the window, you need to whack em. It's their problem that the account was used in this way and that you were tricked, not yours.

The account owner was lucky that they didnt find a bill for 50,000 lindens slapped on their account when their son went on a spending spree with "magic money that comes when you click this button at the top of the screen".
