Bloodsong Termagant Posted November 28, 2023 Share Posted November 28, 2023 heyas! i find myself obsessed with making a tween avatar for my unicorn academy obsession. but i'm having trouble finding out anything about kid/teen/tween avatars. and skins? especially skins. especially 'ethnically hard to pin down' skins. let's go over what i've got so far... SMB -- this used to be 'the' thing, but no longer exists, so forget it. Toodledoo has a Tweeneedoo. i can't find either one of those. (can i diverge to an MP rant? 1: people put on their listings that 'this is for [ZY-MM8B]' without explaining what the HECK those INITIALS stand for! 2: they do NOT link to where you GET these bodies. 3: they put that their mesh items are compatible with (insert mesh body name here), which is good, but LL fell down on the job, because THAT section of the listing doesn't link to anything. when i click 'more info' it doesn't take me to the thing it's compatible with, it takes me to a page that explains what a mesh body is! 4: whenever i find a name and search for that name... i get the clothing or skins or addons or accessories for that body... BUT NOT THE BODY LISTING. !??!?! DAAAAAAAAAH!) i know there's groups for the sl kids... but i don't know what/where any of those are, either, to ask them: what are the big name youth/kid/tween/teen creators and stores? so! any advice and guidance? and especially MP links??? thank you! It doesn't look like there's much third party support with skins and clothes for those bodies. I personally wouldn't bother with bodies that hardly has clothes available for. Punk Small Avatar being free and modifiable intrigues me. No idea which clothing rig will fit or if it'll fit one of the big name mesh heads. Will need to experiment when I have time. I have Tweenster. It has more clothing support than others mentioned here. All female adult heads, be they from Lelutka, Catwa, Genus, etc., will fit the body. Male heads wouldn't work. Genus has a female head as a group gift. You can pick one up and experiment with the Tweenster demo. Also get some skin demos. MeshMerized, Urban Boy, and Chaeri would be good places to start. Skin and shape sliders will have to do the heavy lifting for a childlike face of either gender. A face skin that is free of makeup would work. These kids are both wearing the Lelutka Kaya head. (They were free gifts 2 Christmases ago. There's no official word yet if Lelutka will do another free head gifts this year. If they do, you should definitely should get them; it's good stuff.) Cat on the left is wearing a skin from Gloom. They make unisex skins. I kept the male body skin (also from Gloom) on her because I'm too lazy to seek out a proper child body skin. Greg on the right wears a very old Meshmerized skin with a bunch of correction layers from Izzie's, including a BoM finger & toe fix. MissSweetViolet Posted November 28, 2023 Share Posted November 28, 2023 (edited) I know when I swap in to kid form, I tend to get a bit of a line on Toddleedoo kid at the neck that I've pretty much just learned to ignore cause I love the body, despite a bunch of troubleshooting including CSRs I've not been able to get the neck smooth, like on say my Maitreya, I can't remember if Tweeneedo has the same issue or not, since I'm usually shifting to around age 4, I mostly use the kid body, but I'll check when I get inworld on Tweeneedoo, since I do own it. I can see what I can find for Tweenster too in terms of clothing support, since I own that one too, I think Eddy did a great job of explaining the heads/skins, all I can think of off hand are Baby Bug's Boutique and Kinderstrudle, who do both Tweeneedoo and tweenster in some of their clothing, but I know their are more stores. Some events to watch to find more stores/items would be; Woodland Kids, Roselline, Thimble, Toddleedoo does some events (they just did a Toddleeween and also had a Valentine's Day and Easter Egg hunt this year, those are free to do). Bloodsong Termagant Posted December 3, 2023 Author Share Posted December 3, 2023 OMGOSH! thank you guys SO MUCH!! i'm not hyper worried about 'off brand' bodies (i own two off-brand male mesh bodies. yeah, it's a pain, but they're mod, so...!), as long as there's a demo, and i can try stuff on. it's crazy, but i found that the (slink/tmp/gianni) clothing i have for my male avatars actually fits BETTER on the teen turf body. go figure. i was liking that, but i can't get the bwb slider to zero without collapsing the chest (and the hair i really want needs it at zero, because it is made for adult women). and it has kinda prominent nipples. their clothing is nice, too. but i think i'd be happier with a more androgynous body. anyway, off for more shopping and demo-ing! thanks again! 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
