What is the employment market like in SL.  I speak to a good few people who appear to feel their job is a "chore" and not much fun, but its a good way to get some lindens to pay their rent.   I want to find out what peoples are up to and the kind of things they do.  Are nightclub hosts the most popular role when working for others.  Of course, the self employed must be those creating and selling things?

Ps  I want to be polite and respond to those who take the time to comment on this chat, but not sure how to do that, it seems to create a new post each time.  If somebody could let me know pls, thank you!

To respond to a.particular person, quote them as I did to you then type your response outside the quote box.  Yes, it's a new post which is how it works.

Almost all jobs in SL are roleplay jobs for the fun of it, any finical reward is just a bonus.

^^ This, there might be some people who manage to (barely) make something like a RL income with SL, but there are also people who win the lottery. you shouldn't go to a casino expecting to go out the door with more than you came in with, and likewise you shouldn't expect an SL job to give you back as much as your time is worth, but SL is fun, and if you happen to 'hit the jackpot', all the better.

Then these people are Doing It Wrong.

As any experienced Resident can tell you (and @Rolig Loon and I have frequently said here in the Forums), most "jobs" in SL are a very inefficient way to make money. They pay far less than any Real Life minimum wage job. The fastest and easiest way to "get some lindens to pay your rent" is to just buy L$.

Time spent in SL comes out of your precious "free time"; don't waste it slogging away at a job that pays you a few L$. Your free time should be spent doing things you ENJOY!

Now, if you ENJOY working at your SL job, whatever it might be, then fine. And if it makes you a little money, better yet. But don't trade hours in SL for anything that isn't fun for you.
