Avatar Lighting Is Messed Up, How Do I Fix This??

My friend is having an issue with something in Firestorms settings. At first we thought it was lighting which I helped her reset back to default, along with most other lighting settings, but her game still has strange shadows showing up not only on her avatar, but graininess everywhere else as well. What could we be doing wrong? What setting is this?

There was a recent bug in an Nvidia driver update that rolled.out in June.  It's been subsequently fixed.  Make sure she has the most recent driver if she's using Nvidia.

I have a couple of ideas

1) can anyone else see this?

2) double check she has ambient occlusion turned off

3) what if she tries the LL default viewer?

4) some people have been having odd problems with shadows, textures, water waves, etc.  The temporary work-around for that is... 

     - Teleport to http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Debug1/1/128/23
     - observe the water, make sure you see ripples. 
     - Then teleport back and check your transparency highlighting. 
     - You may have to repeat this as necessary.

Yeah, that too.  I forgot all about that.
