Last week my account was hacked. I can't get it back because I don't remember which e-mail i used to create the account. The account is nine years old. I had a lot of stuff on that account and 25,000L.  I decided to use an alt I had that is ten months old. To avoid the same issue I go to "Change e-mail settings" and i click the "verify" button.

https://prnt.sc/uke6fd

Then I am told that the e-mail can't be verified at this time.

https://prnt.sc/uke6qi

How can i find out the e-mail the account was created with or be able to verify the e-mail address? I think I know which e-mail address it is but i want to be 100% sure.

I didn't think you needed to Verify an existing email address if you simply want to change it.   I thought you just needed to enter the new email address in both fields and click the Save button.  It has been a while since I've changed an email though and mine have all been verified for a while, so I may not be remembering correctly.

In any case, LL will not tell you the email address.  If you don't know it and have no way to figuring it out, you need to use a Support ticket.   Tell LL that you don't remember the email address and they will then ask you some other questions to help confirm that you own the account.

I am not trying to change the e-mail address. I am trying to confirm that the e-mail address I used to create the account is the one I think it is. That is one of the security questions, "Which e-mail was used to create the account?" If i don't know that I will lose the account if I have any issues with it in the future. But yes, I will just open a support ticket.

Assuming you still have access to that E-mail account, you could turn on "Send offline IM's to E-mail" and get someone to send you an IM when aren't logged in.

Don't think that will work, I believe Offline IMs now only go to verified email addresses!

A verified email address is required in order to:

Let's go back to the first account that was 'hacked'.  Believe it or not, it actually is not unusual for people to create throw-away email accounts to associate with an SL account and then forget everything about the email account later.  That is why you need to use a Support ticket and tell LL that you don't remember the email account and they will ask you tons of other questions.  If you cannot answer their questions, the account will be lost to you.

As to the second account that won't even let you do the Verify, again a Support ticket will be needed.  Though on that account, it is possible that you might be able to change the email address -- if you have another valid address to use - and then verify the new one.

If you have more than one Gmail account, you can look to see if you have them linked.. Check through your other Gmail accounts to see if you are using any of them for a backup email..

if you go to Gmail and use the forgot username or password or having problems logging into your account..You should get an option to send an email to your backup account to confirm who you are..
