If you move the original item to another folder, any links that pointed to it will follow it. So not a problem. Your Outfits folder is made up entirely of links, so will remain unaffected by the original items being moved.

Good luck with the clean-up!

Be careful if you have copied the original item, and make sure you're getting rid of/storing away only copies that do not have links pointing to them!

I move my clothing around all the time and none of my dozens, maybe hundreds of outfits got messed up as a result of moving my clothing (and body parts like bodies, head and skins) around.

If, however, you feel nervous about it anyway, you could create an outfit with nothing but demos (you will be chucking those anyway) and experiment with that.

Note that you can drag and drop folders which contain worn items, but you can not cut and paste them and I do not know why.

Have fun experimenting, and enjoy sorting your inventory into something which makes more sense to you 🙂

best then to create a folder for each set of clothing

create a folder for your default nekkid self. Default shape, eyes, mesh body and head, etc.  Save this in a folder called Default Me. This you will wear all the time

then create a inventory folder for each set of clothing.  Differently colored/textured tops, bottoms, shoes, etc. Hair (if you have different hair for a clothing set), Same if different jewellery, AOs, HUDs, etc, for each clothing set

then by right-clicking on the folder name: can Add a clothing folder to your Default Me, and Remove a clothing folder from your Default Me

There are off-world systems that use a database, with pictures of the outfit combined with RLVa in the viewer to make switching outfit one-button easy.  I won't advertise one here, as I think it's against the forum rules, but a MP search for 'wardrobe' would probably work.  This is what I use for quick-change, although I'm not an escort.
