A wonderful and timely thread, roseelvira. All of these people are heroes to me.

I saw one of the ladies coming home from her Asda shift this afternoon (I saw her setting off while it was still dark earlier this morning), and although she has been a neighbour of mine for a few years, living in the block of six next door but one to my own block of six, I had never had cause/opportunity to do anything but nod and smile a basic greeting to her in passing before. This morning, I thanked her for being one of my heroes, said her efforts are very much appreciated. She modestly thanked me and turned the conversation to the applause we all gave to the NHS services last night.

The true heroes are those who never seek for praise, but who go about their normal everydays carrying out their tasks, often for not all that much money. I thank them, one and all.
