I'm in need of a brand new start.  New avatar (mesh?), a few new outfits and some accessories.  I have a few linden to spare to get me there - but I don't want to do it alone.  I need help not only with the process of getting rid of everything I'm wearing and deleting the old items, but also the selection of new items.  I need a personal shopper!  Any ideas as to who/where might be able to help?

Thanks so much for replying, I'm new to the forum but my avatar is six years old.

I don't really want to trawl through freebies and spend lots of time doing stuff.  I'm looking for a personal service where someone can show me to some shops and let me choose out a whole new avatar -  brand new look - then pick a few outfits.  Then - help me with what to do to get it all working!

I believe mesh is probably the way to go when starting from scratch, especially as I'm not worried about losing old clothes etc.

Mesh is definitely the way to go.  I guess it depends on how much you are willing to spend and what look you are going for.  I currently use the Maitreya Lara body, but Slink and Belleza are both good options.  I also use the Lelutka Simone head, which is a Bento head.   Catwa is also pretty popular.  I've only recently really started to post pics, but you can find my Flickr at https://www.flickr.com/photos/152918742@N05/

I would check out this blog for all the varieties of mesh bodies and heads.   It's pretty helpful. http://meshbodyaddicts.com/

I personally love Glamistry heels, but that's a personal preference. :P   https://www.flickr.com/photos/124019222@N08/

I'd be more than happy to help you, if you need any other advice, as all I do in game is shop and play dress up. lol  I haven't considered becoming a professional personal shopper, though. lol

There is a Wanted section further down in the forums but I would stay here for now.  Free help is the best help.

Can I ask a few basics?  Like male or female?  Do you have a budget? Do you have a style in mind?

Definitely would make things easier to help if we knew your style. Just remind, DEMOs are your best friend!

Well, I guess I'm interested in a relatively innocent look, tanned skin, maybe red hair, medium/normal build.  No midriff on display or anything like that!

I'm open minded really.  I just need a fresh start.  Re budget: I can splurge a little, I'm hoping to have an easy and fun experience of getting a new look that takes an hour or two and then sets me up for a few months without any more work to do apart from changing outfits/accessories.  3-4 outfits would be good: jeans and a top, formalwear, something business like and then something to go out in.

Okay.   What I suggest is check out this site, http://seraphimsl.com/  They list all the events that are currently going on.  Most of them show a gallery of what is offered at the event.  If you see something you like, teleport to the event and grab the demo.  Most, if not all, of the items have demos to try before you buy.  As there are a variety of events,  you're sure to find something that interests you. :)

Joining some store groups as well will help you build a collection. I know Scandalize has their fee down to 0L atm and contain a wall full of group gifts. If youre looking for mesh shoes, Pure Poision's group is also free and also have a large selection of group gifts. 7 Deadly skins fee is 50L and its usually in the hundreds.

Cant say I go for an innocent look, so I cant help you there lol

Thanks so much for all this advice, it's so useful and I've already been following some of it which has been really interesting.

But, back to the original question, do any of you know of a personal shopper service?  I understand this will cost some money.  But I don't really want to be alone and I think I'd enjoy the experience of being with a 'specialist' for a couple of hours, giving me a second opinion and enjoying feeling a bit special for a while, leaving with a brand new look to enjoy SL all over again.

For innocent red hair looks, how about this one from Ayashi?  I really like the way Ayashi hairs are textured, the intent is to get an anime look but with natural colors it's not too cartoonish.  For less stylized hair I like Tameless, the Tameless hairs use a mix of every possible type of prim/sculpt/mesh so you get little wisps of hair that move with you, but without looking like a bunch of noodles on your head.  Here's one that looks kind of girl next door-ish.

Also, The Sea Hole is a store of really cute dollarbies, I think these jeans would pair well with red hair and a tan skin.

I think things like timezone, might help too. For instance, I'm from Europe, SLT +9. I can offer to help, but if you are in West-Coast USA, SLT+0, it's highly unlikely we'll be able to meet during the week.
