Hoe long after you win do you actually get the land?

My understanding is that LL takes the money right away and you immediately become the land owner.

I happened to win a parcel at auction just yesterday. "Second Life Auctions" sent me the following email, the same minute that the auction closed:

Dear Qie Niangao, Congratulations! You have won the auction for Mocha (236,226) General 1568m. Details are as follows: Product Name: Mocha (236,226) General 1568m Your Winning Bid: LIN 5,110.00 (this is the total amount due) The item that you won was sold to you by Second Life. You will be charged for the auction and tier assigned if necessary within the hour and no later than 24 hours. If you have questions please read our FAQ or file a ticket at the Support Portal. Thank you for participating in the Second Life Auctions! Best, The Second Life Auctions Team

They say "within the hour and no later than 24 hours" but it was just a few minutes later (maybe ten?) that the sale price was deducted from my balance and the land was assigned to me.

Yes it happens very fast, not instantly, but usually within an hour, at least in my experiences in wining auctions.
