Yesenia Zero Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 hi how are everyone I am thinking opening a art store not like clothes but like art like avatar art in traditional way not like photo pic that there so much more and even more then that too I mean I looked into clothes like retexturing clothes but I feel I do not have the right tools something I like to look into if you guys have suggestion on easy use program to retexture the maps.
Bree Giffen Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 There are free programs like "Gimp" which allow you create and modify textures. It works like Photoshop which is the main art and photoediting program for many people. But, there are many other similar programs out there.
Talligurl Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 Not really sure what you are wanting to do. I have three stores where i sell virtual paintings I create by transforming snapshots to look like they are paintings, I use free programs i find online, that only do that one thing. No where near as powerful all Gimp or photoshop but easier to use for the one thing they do. It is a difficult market, lots of people make art and try to sell it, I am not sure that my art sales even pay the rents on the galleries, but it is fun. Send me an IM sometime and I can show you my stores. One of which is in an art gallery district that will let you get an idea of what others are doing as well. 1
Klytyna Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 I tried selling my own digital art once, here in SL... First problem I ran into back then was gallery space, there was a free gallery at a place i visited, but, the application process to use one of their very many empty booths was to provide them with your RL contact details, promise you had permission from the creator of the images to upload and sell them in SL (they assumed everyone was reselling stuff), and of course, provide an LM for your EXISTING gallery. Place was 3/4 empty and stayed that way. I did get invited by somebody eventually to set out a few pieces on a group owned sim during an 'art festival' there, I sold 6 copies, for 200 L$ each, more than all the other exibitors combined. This didn't make me popular with the others who were in the group that ran the place, I wasn't invited back the following year. I eventually got a gallery deal in a small place, by agreeing to a scripted profit split on the vendors, 50/50 with the gallery, still selling at 200 a pop, I sold 3 items in just over 2 years, traffic was awful. Then one sim where I worked, said I could open a gallery in one of the empty shops in it's mall area as a staff perk. One day this couple came to the sim while I and the owner were there, the guy looked at my stuff, bought 4 items 200 a piece, quality legal digital art, decent image resolution, properly framed, his girlfriend dropped 2 grand buying anonymous illegal webtrawl greyscaled porn (greyscaled to make it 'erotic art' not 'porn') slapped on a tapered cube 'frame' at 50 ls a pop. That kind of sums up the art scene in SL really, but good luck with your new gallery, you WILL need it. 1
