With the Land Auctions is it a one time fee after wining or is there still a monthly payment after?

There are always monthly land fees on any land anywhere in SL.  Your purchase price is a one-time payment, but the land fees continue as long as you own the land.  Think of it exactly like owning land in real life.  You buy land but then continue to pay property taxes on it forever.

Just to add to Rolig's answer, the monthly fee (or "tier") for mainland varies based on how much land you own.  If you look on your web dashboard, Land Manager -> Land Use Fees you can see the monthly fees for different land amounts.  Also, for mainland that you own, if you do not have a Linden home, you get 512m worth of tier free.  (So you can own up to 512m without a monthly cost). There is a section on the Land Use Fees page where you can put in different amounts to estimate what the monthly tier would be.

I didn't even know I can just get the land. which I would rather have.Is there away I can get the land now that I have a Linden Home which I don't want?Thank you

Sure. Stand in your Linden Home. Pick up all your stuff, one item at a time, and put it back in your inventory (do not pick it up in one big lump). Then, open World >>> About Land >>> General and click the Abandon Land button. Once you do that, you no longer own the Linden Home. You may go ahead and buy other property -- at auction or from another resident . If it's on the Mainland, your land fee waiver will apply to the monthly fees for the first 512 sq m of land you own.
