How can i add symbols to my name display

ive been trying to add symbols like ↩♥↪ ❇✳ ✴ things like this to my name display but i always receive the message that i am using an invalid character, but i see others in SL and their display names have symbols like these.  anyone know what i can do?

I hate those.  You can't read them, can't type them, and can't pronounce them.

So many times I see display names that I can't begin to guess what they are because they use ASCII characters and so I can't call the person by the display name they prefer.  I try to be polite this way but people make it almost impossible sometimes.  So, if you don't care about being called by your user name then fine, but if you us these characters don't get insulted if people don't  use your display name when they address you.  Also consider it is very hard to find people that use ASCII characters at the beginning of their display name in groups or in any lists because they don't alphabetize in logical order like regular letters and numbers do.

All those others you refer to, tend to be ignored because most of us get fed up trying to work out their name.
