Freya Mokusei
No. If you're under 18, General is all you get. This is a fixed rule set by LL, they don't make exceptions. Moderate sims can (and frequently do) contain swearing, nudity/sex and other subjects deemed to be unsuitable for people of your age.

Freya Mokusei
No problem! General is the only Maturity Rating that is suitable for under 18s. Swearing is prohibited, sex must be discreet and violence should be limited to playful (getting a bonk on the head, or something). Moderate used to be the rating for adult material (and much that is unsuitable for minors still stays here) - violence, sex, simulated drug use and swearing are all allowed provided they're recreational/non-commercial. Adult is only used for commercialised vice and adult behaviour on an organised scale. This is a relatively new rating, though most sims that meet this criteria explicitly have been converted from Moderate to Adult. [Source]

From that source quoted:- "A region designated General is not allowed to advertise or make available content or activity that is sexually explicit, violent, or depicts nudity. Sexually-oriented objects such as "sex beds" or poseballs may not be located or sold in General regions." Nowhere does it say that "sex must be discreet"

Don't get caught breaking the other ten. But yes, I agree with you, no sex on a General SIM.
495060
I thought that only people OVER 18 in rl were allowed to play child avatars? Or has this changed.

That is true of child avatars in mature/adult rated regions.

There are no rules over who can have what kind of avatar. There are rules on what you can do by maturity rating of a sim, and how undressed one can get (no nudity on G, but fine on M and A). But anyone can make a child, adult, furry, vampire, tiny, cardboard box, robot, or whatever avatar... It can seem baffling that a child avatar sim would choose to be on M land... - On the one hand they might do so to avoid real life children. Though most kids I'd wager would want to play adult or teen avatars. - On the other hand, they risk having neighbors who's conduct is not... appropriate... That said, the activity in SL these days seems to focus either on G land or A land... M land has kind of, lost its focus and purpose. People often go to G or A because the rules one way or the other are crystal clear.
Syo Emerald
I never go to G rated land anymore, if I'm not forced to because of some awsome store, who has its location on G land. I personally hate G rated land from early days on. I don't want to run into kids or people who are obsessed with the idea of regulating others to the point of prudism. I don't want anybody to IM me with telling me my shorts are too short. But I don't only go to A rated land (but find it kind of relaxing, because I do not have to worry about anything there). I still like to visit many locations, as long as they are good, if they happen to be on M land.
Pussycat Catnap
I'm personally fairly similar in that regard. I've experimented with owning G land twice, but gave them both up for lack of purpose. I don't much care for the rules on them. But for those who do there is value in it. Just as for those who care for a lack of such rules, there is value in A and M. Between those, A is often seen as better because it is clear in what its rules are. M seems to have landed in a kind of oddball limbo of "well, stuff is mostly ok, generally speaking, much of the time, but maybe not, or maybe so." If I did have a very active SL brand, I WOULD look into G land more seriously - and make dual shops if needed (if parts of my brand did not fit on G). I have a lot of M land merely because while M is in an odd position ToS wise, it often has better looking land than A (some of the best mainland sim shapes are on G though - G gets very good blends of road and water - and everytime I go land shopping I end up TPing to a couple of great looking places only to realize I'd forgotten to check the sim's rating ahead of time).
