Why is it that only General content is available to 16 and 17 year olds? There's NOTHING to do.

I find it weird that people come to Second Life to do things, but if a 16 or 17-year-old comes in, they can't do anything that's been advertised for SL because they're limited to General only. If a teen wants to expose themselves to Moderate sims, that's their choice. LL already has a liability form saying they can't be sued for what a younger resident sees. So why the restriction to General only? It's terribly annoying when a friend over 18 sends a TP requestto a moderate sim and you can't go. Then they say "General sims are boring, I'm not going there." I wonder why?

Hello, this is not Linden rules it is the governments world-wide.

LindenLab just has to make sure under 18 won´t get any sign of s.x. Especially for US people that would be the end of the world to see a bare b..b

Alot pages on the net ask if you are over 18, you know them pages :matte-motes-wink-tongue:

Monti's right.  LL is just watching its own legal backside.  Just so you know, we're all SL residents here, just like you.  This is a resident-to-resident Answer service, and Lindens never come here.  Those of us who spend time responding to questions don't have any special insight into company policy, and we certainly can't do anything to change it.  All we can do is tell you what's in the TOS and let you wonder about "why".

Oh Lord,

I could go on and on about this one.

Linden Lab is a California Corporation in the US.

[FYI - California being the home of the pornography Industry in the US]

If that wasn't Puritan enough, LL needs to totally cover themselves in regards to the point that the judicial jurisdiction they are incorporated in governs the age of consent for their product. Both State and Federal statutes govern what under-age humans can be exposed to.

Sorry, Nanu.  For your information, there is a LOT to do in General regions.  You just have to look a little harder for it.  Some young people have become skilled content creators and are making money selling their virtual creations.

As for the other stuff...well, you can find s--x elsewhere on the web, if that is your goal.  But my advice is to have patience.  This problem will take care of itself, given a little time.

Nope, not under American law it isn't.  You're legally incapable of making decisions for yourself until you're 18.  Normally, I'd say if you don't like it, call your congressmen, but since you're not voting age, they probably won't care.

Because they're not thinking very creativey.  I spend most of my time in the G areas, and there's really not much you can do in the Moderate/Adult areas that you aren't already seeing in the G areas.  Bonus points is the hangouts tend to be a bit smarter as the higher ratings tend to have hangouts more along the bump and grind.  Places where the conversation, shallow as it may be, often includes txtspk nonwords.

Besides, you're already 17...give it a few months.
