Ceka Cianci
i don't get all flippy over politicians.. they're all lawyers doing whatever they have to do no matter how many it hurts to move up the ladder to get to that point.. look at who is running against Obama right now..the most typical out of touch old ways candidate that they could find.. he made all those funny mistakes that showed he really is nothing but a show to get where he wants to get..then even asked for a restart because he didn't like the way his campaign was looking ..and he still won the primaries.. do you guys really think we get who we really want in there? it's whoever the rich want and that's it..george carlin said it best.. the only lawyer i trust is my uncle who used to be a teacher..he became a lawyer because he hates lawyers and insurance companies.. they both screwed him and my father and my grandparents over real bad one time..he said to my father..this will never happen again..and they haven't screwed him or any of our family over since.. as someone once said.." i never met a politician i liked"

Calamari
Ron Paul is not the only politician with a problem getting fair media coverage, how about just telling the truth about all news. To bad the courts decided that's is ok to fire reporters for telling the truth. The problem is not just the media, it's all so our current debate system for elections ran by the Commission on Presidential Debates. http://www.opendebates.org/theissue/ http://www.opendebates.org/theissue/strengthenmajorparties.html With out fair/truthful media and real debates, elections are just puppet shows. It's too bad that Elektable was just a Ron Paul add and not about the under laying issues.

Any way point being our election debates are not real debates and are not open to all candidates that should be in them (from all political party's.) http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Commission_on_Presidential_Debates "The commission describes itself as nonpartisan, but it is actually bipartisan: its co-chairmen are Frank Fahrenkopf and Paul Kirk, former chairmen of the Republican and Democratic parties, respectively. Questions concerning third-party participation and debate formats are ultimately resolved behind closed doors among Republican and Democratic negotiators. The commission, posing as an independent sponsor, then enforces these rules, shielding the major-party candidates from public criticism." http://www.annenberg.northwestern.edu/pubs/debate/debate03.htm http://coreyography88.blogspot.com/2009/11/secret-control-of-presidential-debates.html http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1038593 http://www.debates.org/ http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4052162 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._presidential_election_debates
161488303349
my point is that if OpenDebate want to be taken seriously then they should not write stuff that soundslike O.M.G !!! is a sekrit cabal in control the CPD is not a sekrit cabal. is a vehicle that the two main parties use to organise a debate jointly between themselfs for their own candidates is not the only debate forums that candidates participate in is nothing wrong with OpenDebate org wanting to organise a presidential debate using a different format. is all good that they want to
Amethyst Jetaime
We are going to get more than enough exposure to politics in the next four or so months without having to see political spam in SL. I'm already getting a few calls a day from people pushing a particular political agenda. The first lesson in critical thinking when it comes to evaluating facts and opinions about politics is to consider the source. Since everything posted here is done under fictitious names, nothing posted here is going to sway me one way or the other and it should not sway anyone else. YouTube is certainly not high on the list of reliable facts either.

You can't claim to be nonpartisan and at the same time have your own candidates, that's one of the problem with the CPD It my not be the only debate forum the candidates participate in but it's one of the MOST important ones viewed by the most people which is why the CPD was set up to control it. The League of Women voters did a much better job running the debates, back then they were actually debates, now there mostly prepared comments to predetermined questions. There's really not much to debate here the history of The Commission on Presidential Debates is well documented by many sources, any one interested in fair elections no matter what side of the political spectrum they are on should be aware of what the CPD is doing. 161488303349
you now seem to be arguing with yourself. like at cross-purposes + is ok to state on your website that the two main parties control the CPD therefore cutting off other party and independent candidates from being involved in CPD-sponsored major debates that OpenDebate org does not think that this is fair, given the importance that voters currently put on CPD-sponsored debates. So the OpenDebate org sponsors an alternative forum in which all parties (including the two majors) and independents are welcome to participate + when start chucking in gratuitous stuff like the main parties do this sekritly, then the main point OpenDebate is promoting kinda gets lost in the eye-rolling. is shoot yourself in the head stuff if the intention is to actual get the two main parties to volunteer to be included in OpenDebate-sponsored debates
