Hella Hexem
I started playing yesterday and at night when I went to bed my avi was fine with skin, hair and dress. This morning it had became a mist. I don't know what to do to reverse it. Yes, I'm a newbie, and that's why I'm asking for help Thanks

Hello, you might find this article more helpful and effective: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/bake_fail One more thing: If you are wearing multiple items on Tattoo layer it will cause sometimes bake failure (avatar is a cloud or ruthed). This is a known bug which affects all viewers. Remove all items from Tattoo layer and rebake (Ctrl-Alt-R). When avatar is loaded you can add the items back to Tattoo layer. Be aware though, as this is a general bug the issue might come back again. But now you know what to do then. Good luck.
Marigold Devin
Welcome to Second Life and to Second Life Answers. This is a very common problem, often caused by an interruption in your internet connection (it happens to me all the time!) I usually try and fix it by clicking on "ctrl" "alt" "R" at the same time (this is what is known as "rebaking"). Sometimes just doing that works. Other times it makes my avatar look like an ugly-formed thing, or a "ruthed" avatar. (see Tara's link for more about that). Another thing to try is to slide a bald base from your inventory over to your avatar. The main thing, though, is to check your internet connection; if you are on a wireless connection, try not to be. A cabled connection is far more stable.
squashy Beeswing
Yes, as Coby said, there is a definite bug with tattoo layers or multiple tattoo layers. Other things i like to try are to go into "edit appearance" and then click out again. Also, strange as it may sound, changing eyebrows often works. It's a good idea also to keep a saved outfit that comprises clothing, hair, skin, eyes, etc and "replace current outfit" with the saved outfit when you become a "mist". Often it will bring you back. Plus, of course, rebake. :-)
Ticee Nansen
I've also found that teleporting around can help in some cases
Shelby Silverspar
This happens to me quite often. Taking off just one tattoo layer fixes it for me, then I just put the tattoo layer back on and it's all good. I've heard people say that swapping their bald head or hair base for a different bald head/hair base fixes it for them.
LeeHere Absent
It's been a while since I've answered this question or, knock on wood, had this problem myself, but at one time I had it frequently enough to motivate me to compile a list of resident-contributed suggestions for a fix.
