"Two decades ago — an eternity in “Internet Time” — a small group of people from a tiny, unknown start-up somewhere in San Francisco opened the doors to the public, showing off their latest software platform, after having spent several months in closed beta. That platform was nothing more and nothing less than what author Neil Stephenson called “the Metaverse”, two decades before." "WordPress offers daily writing prompt to inspire bloggers. I haven’t paid much attention to those. Actually, I haven’t paid any attention to those. Yesterday’s writing prompt however was “how do you practice self-care?” My honest answer to that question probably is “seldom and poorly”. Still, there are some things I find therapeutic." No time for real life - 11.jpg

"I believe that life is here in Second Life where you can set your imagination free. As children, we have dreams of what we want to be or where we want to live. These dreams change as we gain more knowledge of the world around us. I think we dream of our childhood because life had simplicity for most of us. You did not worry about money. Your main interest was your imagination of building something around you." Read more on the blog.

"Sharing some of my "Heimatland" sights in Second Life is for me a very special occasion. The castle in the background is " Burg Gleiberg" built around the 900th. The ruin is now a popular destination. Since 1879, the ruins have been owned by the Gleiberg Association, which strives to preserve them. The restaurant "Burg Gleiberg" with a beer garden is located in a building in the inner courtyard of the lower castle. As a child, we would visit this often because it was part of the neighborhood." "This week the Basement Club celebrates seven years in Second Life. We are very lucky to have this for sure. I give credit to the wonderful people who stop by and say hello. Some come back week after week, and some visit ever so often. Whether you come once or many times we welcome you to listen to the incredible DJs and people with music knowledge." "The Canary Project sponsored the Grid Drive last weekend. If you don't know what the Grid Drive is: there is this group in Second Life called 'Drivers of SL'. They organise a weekly drive around one or more continents on the Grid. Parts of the drive may include flying or boating. The drive often has a specific theme, takes a few hours and is good fun to be part of." Read more on the blog.

The Things We Never Talk About Part I

"I have been fairly open about my struggles with my mental health. Mostly because as much as I struggled, I have always been on the other side. I would still be in that tunnel, but I had already crawled through the darkest part. I was where the light at the end of the tunnel was bright enough to light through where I was walking. I would tell myself that no matter how bad it was now, I have endured worst." Read more on the blog.

"Palomma Casanova was a remarkable lady in Second Life. The Free Dove was her baby, her project, the way she reached out to help everyone. It really was a labour of love, I know from our conversations how much she toiled over it. When I heard she had passed away I was really shocked and saddened. Palomma had never mentioned that she was sick, never moaned or complained. Always upbeat, forever forging on with her plans inworld." Read more on the blog.
