What is considered an appropriate and generous tip in Lindens?

Dear SL community,

I see places where tips are being asked for but I'm unsure what might be considered generous and appropriate for the provided service. Is there a rule of thumb?

None whatsoever.  Consider your own pocketbook and your sense of generousity.   As a guide, remember that L$10 is about 4 cents and L$100 is about 40 cents U.S.

there's no real guide for tips... but for performers, dj's and hosts it's mostly the only income they generate, most venues i know don't pay that positions.

And of course... think about your own budget... a tip for 10L$ can be a fortune for you... while for others 500L$ or more isn't hurting them.

But think i'm safe when saying most tips are around 50-300 L$

As a DJ myself it is how we make the bulk of our income. However, it is entirely up to you and what you can afford to tip us, the range I usually see is around $25-500 Lindens which breaks out to just a few cents in real money. Mainly just use your budget to determine the best tip and if you really enjoy the performer, try to tip them a bit more. Sometimes I find the best tip of all is a simple "Thank You"

In the end most of us do this because we truly enjoy it, not because we expect to get rich anytime soon and retire to Bora Bora or Tahiti
