So what changed in the Terms of Service?
Arielle Popstar replied to Lucia Nightfire's topic in General Discussion Forum
The reasoning might be good and not that different from other platforms but the prob is that for SL reporters it is an indication that this is a child avatar and should measure up in ALL ways or the reporters can find a legit cause to AR them. -

Takes much less time to comment then do an investigation to see if another measures up to the required standards. -

Personally my own virtual life is busy enough I don't have time or interest to minutely inspect another if they measure up to all the ToS requirements. How small does one's virtual AND R/L have to be that doing so would be a legit pastime? -

There have been more then a few posts of people who'd be more then happy to rid the whole grid of any and all younger appearing avatars so your comments belie the words of a few in here. -

They're still adults. And even children are curious about their sexuality. -

I hear they don't take too well to new rules in Texas. That's what we have here, new rules that residents are supposed to abide by after multiple years of having a different code to live by. -

Did you get a letter yet to require your attendance at a re-education camp as a result of his AR? Placemarker for Bright Haired Blondes being re-educated image -

That makes money for the creators and store owners. SL only makes money from the buying and selling fees. That might be enough to pay for Brad's lunch. Where it might be some income is from the sim/tier fees that the store owner has. They likely don't care except for the headache of those complaining about the trouble makers and rule breakers. Even then up to now, they just seem to make an example of certain types who might be getting the most AR's and not contributing much back. Some other kinky ones don't get bothered because they are contributing to Brad dessert! -

Are you trolling Rowan again? If so keep it up. She won't bother with me if she is busy with you! -

I have a bridge for sale. SL makes the majority of its money from Land Sales. The money made from L$ trading fees is likely negligible and at best a bit of gravy money. Most resident are a dead loss to them in the bandwidth needed to support their moving around and rezzing. If the grid was empty tommorrow, it would make for a light day for the tech guys and would really have little impact on the money the Lindens continue to bring in from Tiers. A few thousand less residents is no sweat off of their virtual *****. We are quite expendable. Sorry to break that to you. -

I find there is a contingent, here especially, that need to believe SL can do no wrong. It would undermine the resident's confidence to believe anything else. I suppose that makes it easier to sleep at night but myself, I think it is quite possible that things aren't as rosy as some like to make it out. -

Not as many virulent LL fans in those places and the moderation is somewhat more relaxed in allowing some not so complimentary posts. I find reading both gives me a better overview of what is going on. -

There is Reddit, Facebook, that site that you are normally on and some other places where one could mention it. -

I have a Geisha outfit that under the right circumstance and with no modesty layer would now be open to getting banned for, so yeah. one of those cases were you're wrong. -

Yes there is some truth to that. Someone said on another SL related site that "Getting banned for emulating culturally unfamiliar makeup styles is a thing. -

Because people do, either out of anger, because they had questions not resolved by the Lab, comments that it was unfair and they had to tell the world...etc. Dozens of potential reasons they would share or tell others of such a thing. Yet, zilch. Noone I've heard ever mentioned such letters. You have a couple stories from ancient history and that's the most we've heard and well, there is enough traffic on this thread that I look forward to someone piping up and say I am wrong and they have or had such a letter and/or warning. -

Because not everybody is you? The ToS requires a college level reading comprehension at the least and in some cases with the more intricate parts, University and some parts even require a knowledge of legalese. It is a small wonder so many just scroll past and click ok then come here to get a break down in a 165+ page cluster*** thread that can be even more confusing then the ToS, FaQ's and Wiki's. -

Some of us pay as much attention to what LL does as they pay to residents that have been AR'ed apparently. There have been inconsistencies. I wouldn't leave because of distrust of LL but distrust of some residents. There are some nice people but there is a lot I wouldn't trust as far I could throw them if I was of such a mind. When a platform sets neighbour against neighbour like they have on others, concurrency usually drops...significantly. Have seen this happen to IMVU where they dropped from 100,000+ to 30,000 in a few years. I expect similar will happen here unless Governance actually starts to follow through with their new/old policies. -

I was meaning saving the pictures from Facebook. I don't see any problems on your facebook page or the one pic you posted here but then I have some vision loss from being old though I have reading glasses to compensate. Anyway you can redownload the pictures from the Viewer once the Inventory cache rebuilds inworld. For the rest I am not sure what the problem is other then any disk wipe without backing up some things is going to present some loss unless one is very careful.
