  1. Not from what I have seen. Usually 6 foot as they are predominantly taller then I am at 5'10". Nor in the clubs I have been in are there any kemono body other then one i can remember but I trust you to exaggerate. According to reports on Reddit, they were not doing anything that should have warranted being banned without recourse and a mod even mentioned they had to close and hide threads from quite a few because they were emotionally written and identified individuals which is against their ToS. It seems to happen a lot more frequently then is being let on.
  2. Depends on how you define "child avatar". If as the ToS says it is anyone looking under the age of 18 then 20% is likely low. I'd put it more up to 30-40% have an appearance that could be considered as under 18. Go look at the MP and one can readily see that heads and skins are marketed to those wishing to look younger.
  3. Quite a few (50%?) play a character they are not in RL and that figure is probably low considering we are predominantly 45+ and yet have avatars which rarely look over 30. Is that for therapeutic reasons? Maybe we should see more with canes, wheelchairs and a slew of medical devices which are often the reality. If it is borderline against the rules and yet acceptable on other platforms, where is the justification? What's is the reasoning behind it since it doesn't seem to stem from any legal thing unless the Lab was negligent in instituting code that prevents an underage looking avatar from hopping on an adult sofa. That shouldn't be hard as other platforms seem to have no issues with that.
  4. I've seen and experienced this even yesterday when I logged in at home alone in after a couple weeks and had 2 IM's from others relay what they'd like to do to me in such a way as to insinuate I was in a tween sort of look. It is difficult situation when one is roleplaying a character to then authentically refuse an adult who is looking for more then just a cuddle or sit on their knee.
  5. Whatever gives you the idea that one chooses their avatar for a therapeutic outlet? You're grasping. If we are discussing people who are using an under 10 years old avatar maybe but those using what could be considered a teen avatar may very well be using it as an extension of themselves. I myself was being carded until I was 30 years of age because I looked to be in my teens even up to then. Some looks make it hard to determine what someone's age is and this is especially true when a lot of the looks in the MP are modelled on those who are considered to be under 20.
  6. That depends on whether one chooses and avatar as a character they play or an extension of themselves from r/l.
  7. There been reports in places where femboys are being targeted for the witch hunts. Banned without recourse. That makes it not so much of a stretch as there is quite a number of them.
  8. What I get more so is a witch hunt based on removing the temptation for certain adults to indulge in playing with underage avatars.
  9. Seems to come through much more distinctly with brit humour doesn't it? I like my books digitized nowadays, makes them easier to carry, read and store. And yes ego's from whatever gender are rather intolerable aren't they?
  10. Most if not all I have seen by him were soft cover. Usually dog eared though begging the question whether from relooking up pages or from being thrown.
  11. We already have a General Purpose type forum where in spite of the moderated restrictions, the users regularly put forward their ideas on how to improve SecondLife. They don't listen to any of that so what ever delusional sort of thinking would make anyone at all confident that this new line of communication is going to be better or even on par with the resources the Lindens have available to them already? These Lab Gabs when analyzed are just eye-rolling.
  12. Challenge him to try himself if he thinks it is so easy. I know I can't take a good picture if my life depended on it, using the same spot that my partner uses to create a picture she won't even acknowledge as being artistic and yet loads better then my feeble attempts. Having an eye or smidgeon of creativity is essential and not all of us have it.
  13. In that video it seemed they were considering some sort of mobile subscription plan so they could probably do it through that where only those passing through Google's own Access age-restricted content page can download the Mobile viewer. I'd assume Apple has a similar ability to restrict who can buy the app.
  14. The Lab only has to start requiring it on any new clothing items to begin with. And yes, there ways to have the Viewers made to detect the height of the avatar, heads and bodies used, etc. That is aside from the AR's that could be filed and acted on with more surety if a given avatar is wandering about with a higher rating then their current outfit/look would allow. If the Lab is so serious about policing the grid for underage looking avatars, they could put out some guidance as to the most likely looks that would put someone in the wrong age bracket to be considered adult. ---snip--- I shouldn't post so late.
  15. I don't think it is the only option. I have seen other platforms that simply do not show any content rated more then a G to residents who have not been qualified as (A)dults. SL has ratings on its content so the Viewers could simply filter out any content that the user is not rated for. The viewers could even be setup in ways to prevent avatars wearing a "child suit", whatever that is determined to be, to automatically block adult content being seen so that for example an adult wearing clothes rated as Adult would automatically be seen by the one wearing a "child suit" as wearing a default full coverage clothing. That would protect both real and virtual children. No need for the Lindens to police anything because it could be done through filtering content through the Viewers.
  16. If one is a younger professional who is or will be in the active job market, there certainly would or could be a risk to their employability should they be associated with certain types of kink or even just vanilla porn. There is no telling how deep some companies will go in researching the backgrounds of potential employees. Even the recent in house scandal whether true or not, could have a detrimental effect on the professional careers of some involved, even if there winds up being nothing proven. Just the taint of something is enough for big employers to back off. I would think people would want to be very careful with allowing associations between their SL avatars and R/L names. A good reputation in R/L is a valuable thing.
  17. The way I would interpret it is that "survival" would warrant the participation. Resilience is at least a step up and implies a certain intent.
  18. I've heard the reverse that it is easier on to download a smaller texture and the viewer multiplies it 4x rather then having to download 1 texture 4x the size. So why you say the opposite? At the very least 2048 sq textures will quadruple the required download.
