  1. Is it just me or does it seem that SL could use more games? Theres tons of shopping, tons of role playing, and things like fishing and that but when it comes to games that keep a score and are truely competitive fun with a whimsical style it seems SL is lacking. I do know of Linden Realms and all the arcade games that exist and all but it still doesn't seem like much for such a large platform. Is it just me not being able to find the games that do exist? Now I am not thinking of realistic games such as the fishing or role playing. I am thinking of things like super mario and other games with that style. Do games like that exist in sl?
  2. I already aam working to create things for the marketplace. I just see a lot of posts in the wanted section for people looking for mesh builders or builder of sorts. I thought i would post my "listing" and see if anyone wanted anything. Plus I've done this before years ago and after a while I got quiet a few people who saw and did end up wanting custom builds. Anyways it does't hurt to have more ways of "advertising" and on top of it I love creating for others.
  3. If you know how to make a shirt you should know the shortcuts I am about to mention. If not just let me know. If I was making a pair of pants i would start with a cube, loop cut ir around the crotch area. You can then extrude the faces for each leg. After you've done that and have a basic shape you would go back and make it round, add in details you want, and all that other stuff.

  6. So the mesh avatar does not work in the regular viewer? Is there nothing at all that shows up, no body parts or clothing?
  7. So I've been noticing these weird light issues with my mesh ever since I started making mesh for SL. I thought I would finally post my problem. I am sure that it has something to do with how low poly my meshes are but if that is the case then I don't know what to do because I don't want to add prims just for lighting. Has anyone had this problem before? The mesh itself is flat on the top except for the 45 degree angle but the lighting is making the smaller right side brighter. I can fix the light issue by adding more vertices to the round edge or making the top flat with a hard edge, both of which I do not want to do. Adding more vertices would add more prim and making the top flat changes the whole style of the design. Has anyone had this problem before? I've tried to reset up the mesh to no avail without adding more vertices. Edit: I also know this has something to do with the smooth shading but smooth shading has it's uses. Is there a way to use smooth shading in SL with low vertices and not have any issues?
  8. Greetings, I have been working on some meshes for my own start up a business that makes random mesh props and furniture. I have a few items that I have planned to create but other than that I make any random object that I can script and have it be interesting, things that will get people to interact with them. I have come to you to find out if there is anything that you want to see in SL. Whether or not it has been created before. I know everyone has found that product that they wish had a few adjustments here and there and possibly be more interactive. Even if this item is super random and specific please suggest it? I am up for the possibility of making anything. I appreciate all feedback and ideas very much. I will make it worth your time to suggest your wants and ideas. If I create your suggestion I will send you a copy for free as a "Thank You". Though this is not to say I will be able to make everything because I won't, I wish I could but time is a limited resource. In short I want to know what you want in SL. I come up with my own ideas because I enjoy creating and inovating but I don't create for myself. I would much rather have someone else enjoying what I made and what better way to succeed at that then to find out what others enjoy. Thank You for your time :)
  9. Well you can notice some differences in the surface of the retoped model and your first version. I truely think in an use, Second Life or not, it is all preference. Though good topology can make a model cleaner and easier to work with especially if anyone else will ever work with it. Here is a good read on the subject. http://cgcookie.com/blender/2012/11/28/why-topology-matters-modeling/ If I was to suggest something why not just be topology concious from the start and then you wouldn't need to worry about retoping later. It might not turn out perfect but it would be easier to fix topology errors later then redoing all of it.
  10. A couple days ago and then I tried yesterday and again today. It's odd but I logged in not long ago and it was in search. Thanks for the help I guess it just needed time like you said.
  11. I got the impression it was mainland when I bought it. Is there a way I can find out for sure? The only sign that it is mainland is a small abandoned land owned by govenor linden, on a private sim wouldn't that land be owned by the sim owner? My place is 1 Import The sim is Nagarjuna Currently the "Show Place in Search" and "Moderate Content" is checked due to the sim but it isn't showing in search.
  12. So I realized for my place to be in search that I need to it under land options. I did. The thing is my place does not show in search and if I log off and log in later I have to reclick "Show Place in Search". I am unsure what to do to get my place to show up in search. Any idea or advice? It is very appreciated!
  13. Hi! I have sent you a notecard in world. I look forward to hearing back from you
  14. Both it doesn't matter how close your avatar or camera is. No but I can. Though I don't think it should matter what the setting are anyway as the pins should work without having to edit the settings. I guess the settings could tell us the issue but I'm not so sure. Rhys are you making a bowling lane too?
  15. So from reading this thread it sounds like it is possible to bake an alpha full bake map using blender? How is this possible? I've read elsewhere enough that it can't be done but people figured out how? No matter what I try I always get a white background when trying to bake anything alpha.
  16. Since I've been helping brian inworld I'll say my own experience with the matter. Waiting a while doesn't have the pins appear. You can click and or hover some pins and they will appear but the other pins act as if they don't exist, at all. THis is odd because the pins are not rerezzed. The pins are all rezzed at the beggining set up of the lane and then when the lane isn't using the pins it moves them into a part of it and sets them transparent. So even if the pins are not in their correct spot you should be able to select them where they are hidden but you cannot. Here is an example of a situation I experienced. During the lane set up I saw all 10 pins. The lane then moved the pins and hid them. When the lane went to start the game 4 pins showed up on my screen but only 3 of them were actually visable. I saw the 4th pin after trying to group select and see if any more pins would appear. The rest of the pins, the pins that were closest to me, would not appear and it was the back row that would appear for me so I don't suspect this is a view distance issue at all. If you jumped into firestorm at that exact moment you would see all 10 pins even though a moment ago they didn't show up in viewer 3. If you go back to viewer 3 you still won't see all 10 pins.
  17. I forgot to say this isn't a view distance issue because it doesn't matter how close to them in viewer three you are, the pins that are rez zed don't appear until clicked on and then the other pins won't appear at all even though you can see all the 10 pins in a different viewer. Also the pins are sculpted so no mesh issues and they are already linked to an invisible prim for physics.
  18. The tool bars that usually shows up on the right and bottom for me are missing. I know about basic and advanced mode but I dont even see that option I don't know how to get my tool bars back. Also for example I can't do anything to access my inventory or IM people. There is no simple toolbar, there's no toolbar. I was using SL just a day before and it was working fine. I didn't update between then and now it just didn't appear when I logged in. I even reinstalled the viewer and it didn't show up. Any Idea what I can do to get my toolbars back?
  19. So the situation is that there is a bowling lane that has pins that are rezzed when they are set up. The pins then are never re rezzed instead they are set transparent and moved inside the body of the lane when it is not being used. When it is they are moved to their playable position and set with no transparency. Now the issue is this: • During set up all the pins rezz and you can see them, they all show up. • When set up is done only a few of the pins will show up and be clickable. • Second life acts as if the rest of the pins don't exist and they aren't even still in the body of the lane, it's as if they are gone. • Sometimes the pins that did rezz will stay transparent and when you select them they will go untransparent. The issue is not a rezzing issue because we know the pins are there. If you go into firestorm after not being able to see the pins in viewer 3 all the pins show up and are clickable, there is no issue with other viewers. We don't know if this is a script issue, a prim update issue with the viewer, or what. Any advice or thoughts on this problem? Has anyone experienced a problem like this before? Video demonstrating the issue. If you notice pin 1 isn't even selectable in Viewer 3 but it shows up in firestorm.
  20. Well since I haven't really explained it yet I'll show you what I am doing with my hud and how it is currently set up. You choose what section you want to edit and then the color menu appears. After that you select your color and the furniture will change. The furniture is mesh so instead of click a specific object it is reading which face you clicked and then telling the HUD so it can set it self up. Basically the furniture piece, when clicked, figures out what face you clicked and then activates the corresponding chair section script. That then tells which message the color swatch will send out. It seems I have this script set up a bit more confusing then it should be but it is working fine so far. I am just trying to make it even more useable now with the random channel so that the HUD can register any piece of furniture. Also thanks for all the help, it is extremely appreciated! I'm still learning so any advice and help is a life saver. Currently this is how my scripts work. I did not edit in your parts yet as I have been trying to get it working with no luck. You click what part you want to edit, chair body for example: default{ state_entry() { llListen(-5256, "", NULL_KEY, ""); } touch_start(integer total_number) { llSay(-5256, "chairbody"); //lSay(PUBLIC_CHANNEL, "chairbody"); llSetTexture("ab847c3b-3a17-bcf7-c0bd-d39b3f551939", ALL_SIDES); } listen( integer channel, string name, key id, string message ) { if(llToLower(message) == "chairbodyselect" ) { llSay(-5256, "chairbody"); llSetTexture("ab847c3b-3a17-bcf7-c0bd-d39b3f551939", ALL_SIDES); } else if(llToLower(message) == "chaircushions" || llToLower(message) == "chairlegs" || llToLower(message) == "chaircushionsselect" || llToLower(message) == "chairlegsselect" || llToLower(message) == "exit" ) { llSetTexture("cb3f328b-71ac-f8c7-6b35-07c9610a9b65", ALL_SIDES); } }} Then you choose a color, red for example: string color;string colorchoice;default{ state_entry() { llListen(-5256, "", NULL_KEY, ""); colorchoice = "red"; } touch_start(integer num) { if( color == colorchoice || color == colorchoice + "1" || color == colorchoice + "2" ) { llSay(-5256, color); //llSay(PUBLIC_CHANNEL, color); } } listen( integer channel, string name, key id, string message ) { if(llToLower(message) == "exit") { llSetAlpha(0.0, ALL_SIDES); color = " "; } else if(llToLower(message) == "chairlegs") { llSetAlpha(1.0, ALL_SIDES); color = colorchoice; } else if(llToLower(message) == "chaircushions") { llSetAlpha(1.0, ALL_SIDES); color = colorchoice + "1"; } else if(llToLower(message) == "chairbody") { llSetAlpha(1.0, ALL_SIDES); color = colorchoice + "2"; } }} Then the chair changes colors: This script also determines if you touched a face sends a message back so that the HUD will change to effecting that face. integer chairlegs;integer chairbody;integer chaircushions;default{ state_entry() { chairlegs = 2; chairbody = 0; chaircushions = 1; llListen(-5256, "", NULL_KEY, ""); } touch_start(integer num_detected) { integer face = llDetectedTouchFace(0); if (face == TOUCH_INVALID_FACE) { llSay(0, "The surface you touched could not be determined"); } else if (face == chairlegs ) { llSay(-5256, "chairlegsselect" ); } else if (face == chairbody ) { llSay(-5256, "chairbodyselect" ); } else if (face == chaircushions ) { llSay(-5256, "chaircushionsselect" ); } } listen( integer channel, string name, key id, string message ) { if (llToLower(message) == "red") { llSetColor(<1.00000, 0.00000, 0.00000>,chairlegs); } else if (llToLower(message) == "red1") { llSetColor(<1.00000, 0.00000, 0.00000>,chaircushions); } else if (llToLower(message) == "red2") { llSetColor(<1.00000, 0.00000, 0.00000>,chairbody); } } } I added in your parts but I don't want to overfill this post with code to show scripts. I am not sure what I need to fix though as I couldn't get them working.
  21. Oh this is interesting because I originally had it set up that way without a custom channel. The couch would only listen when you touched it. This was before I had an HUD that you could choose which color you wanted. I'd have to see if I can make this work with the HUD buttons that you can also click to choose what furniture piece you wanted to edit. Thanks, I am going to work with that and see what I can come up with.
  22. Ah ok wasn't sure if that was what you had meant Rolig. I did my best to look at teh syntax for llListen but I am not sure what to do as my string isn't specific. The only thing specific about them is that the number is negative and how many characters are in the number. Is that enough information to set a string for the listen to look for?
  23. Yea I was thinking about that, detect name or something, but if the user ever changes the name of the object and decides, for whatever reason, to remove sofa, then the HUD wouldn't work. Also I am not sure what you mean by recast? I did manage to get the script working. I just changed it to touch_start(integer total_number) { random = (integer) llFrand (-500.0); llSay(PUBLIC_CHANNEL, (string) random); } Also is it possible to have listen look for a set of numbers or a (string) on a specific channel or would I have to set the script to listen for anything?
  24. Interesting though that would get me a bunch of objects that wouldn't be associated with the HUD? Would there be a way to keep that from happening? Maybe some sort of message and return message to associate certain objects with the HUD? Also I am testing out my original idea. When you click on the furniture it sends out a message with a random whole number. The scripts will read that and then put it as the channel that they speak on. Though is it possible to set a random number as an integer to replace the listen channel? Such as this? Though I am getting erros and I can't see why. integer random;default{ state_entry() { random = (integer) llFrand (7.0); } touch_start(integer total_number) { llSay(PUBLIC_CHANNEL, random"); }}
  25. But then that takes chat commands. Isn't there some way I can just have the HUD register the couch by clicking on it? I think it would be hard to code but I am up for it.
