I also have a li'l astigmatism, which is exacerbated by high-contrast environments, night-time being the worst. I like to watch movie credits, to see the names of the people involved. That sometimes requires me to turn up the house lights to drown out the secondary images.

I do dream of driving down the road in my tractor, pushing or lifting obstructions (like cars, bicyclists and moms pushing strollers) out of my way.

There are about 5 different types of Astigmatism. Didn't need to start wearing glasses until I was in my 40s.

    You crack me up.

Yesss! Haha!~ See? So when I say I am a Fire Tiger, it narrows it down to the not just the year, but also which decade and most people are able to figure out which year in that decade is mine LOL There is a lot more to Chinese Zodiac than just animal year. :) I hope my joke that started this conversation makes a little more sense now Bahaha!

THIS is why I make my forum title what it is, because I suspect I annoy more often than not. 😇

Yeah, except I wasn't referring to astrology, just the zodiac. Astronomy has more to do with what I meant than astrology. Animals shapes are easy for humans to recognize and makes for good shared terminology that leads to understanding even with a language barrier.

This is Tiger, scroll down to find the five elements, etc. Look yourself up and have fun!

Ah. I see what you are getting at. So for the next Year of the Dragon, according to the site you linked, the element will be Yang Wood, so I'm assuming an Earth Dragon.

As for me, I was born in the Year of the Pig Boar (Earth Boar). https://www.yourchineseastrology.com/zodiac/pig.htm

It's a bit more complicated than cones vs. pixels. Cones (4.5-7 million, depending on who you ask), and the far more numerous rods (about 20x cones), are quite unevenly distributed about the retina. The central fovea (0.1% of our visual field) which has the highest visual acuity, contains almost all the cones and none of the rods. It takes three (four for tetrachromats like me) cones to match a display pixel (which is actually three sub pixels (red/green/blue), so it's fairer to state that our cones are equivalent to 1.5-2.3 million pixels...

...until we consider "hyperacuity". In addition to raw pixel density, our visual cortex does some pretty cool processing to improve resolution. Some of that magic is thought to involve the eye's rapid eye jiggles, called "saccades". High end digital cameras are now starting to use their image stabilization systems to mimic that jiggle, producing images with higher resolution than possible from pixel count alone.

A display screen doesn't know where we are going to focus our attention, so it must meet or exceed the spatial resolution of the central fovea at all points if it's going to be indistinguishable from "reality". If the fovea's 1.5-2.3 million pixel equivalents occupy only 0.1% of our visual field, it would take 1.3-2.3 billion display pixels to match it. That's all theory though, and in practice we've been quite happy with far fewer pixels on out televisions. Even so, I recently saw an 8K TV right next to a 4K and, from a comfortable viewing distance, the difference was obvious to me.

And then there are the millions of poor bastages like me who have Astigmatism. :S

Odd thing is, I have better night vision than most people who have 20/20. Between the two I avoid driving at night as much as possible because those oncoming headlights blind the living *bleep* out of me. If only surplus Sherman tanks weren't so darn expensive.

That -should- be scriptable. It has ‘cool things you can Bento” written all over it.

Q: If an avatar flutters its digital wings; does the wind change directions over the Great Firewall of China?

    Should being the keyword.

Only on the second Tuesday of the third month of the Year of the Dragon. So... you've got some time. About 5 years. ^_^

Maybe.  Again, it depends on how the wings are made.  Simply making them flexi won't help unless they are flexi from the spot where they are attached to her.

That would be a lovely effect.  It's what I imagined that she was after.  As I said, though, she's more likely to get that effect with wings that were designed and scripted to do it in the first place.  It's not necessarily impossible to retrofit the wings she has, but it's likely to be challenging and possibly expensive.

Wasn't disagreeing. Just didn't want her to try it and freak if it didn't work the way she wants.

Yeap and I even sometimes still say far out but it's gotta be something up tight, outta sight and really in the groove.

No, I don't mean tampax whadafug wrong wid ju. :P 🌺

It all depends on how the wings are made and whether you have permission to modify them (and on whether you know how to write scripts or are willing to pay a scripter to write something).  Given all of that, chances are pretty good that you will be better off looking for wings that are already scripted to do what you want.  The one part of your question that is least likely to be possible is the part about bouncing (or flowing) freely as you walk.  The only wings that will do that realistically are flexi.  If those wings are not already flexi, they won't be flowy or bounceable.

If they are mod they can be made flexi but it may not give the results Sandra is after.

I think what she is after is something like this but slower, much slower:

Sometimes you just got to take a break and quit staring at the problem so you can see what you need to do with fresh eyes later.

This. So much this. When you get frustrated leave it alone for a while. Get your mind off it. Then go back and take a fresh look. Take your time when you look again and then plan your adjustments because sometimes you can change an area and it will affect another area (minor but enough to notice) so you'll want to plan to make small adjustments in more than one area sort of like how you don't just grab one corner of an object to enlarge it if you want it to stay very close to its position, you enlarge in small amounts using at least two opposite corners. (Changing the size of an object will change its position.) The same technique applies to avatars.

Growing up is tough and I never appreciated how simple the lack of any responsibility made it.

Then suddenly its about responsibilities and others being dependant.......and it gets tougher!

Maturity though can be avoided.....I do that quite well.

I think you have that backwards. You can't avoid your body maturing but you can avoid growing up. ;)

You can thank my mother for that one. She never did grow up. Neither have I. \o/

I think she is just saying in the sense of the inner child, in terms of responsibilities and stuff...though, maturity isnt something that we have a choice to avoid; even though we want to😂😂😂😩😩😩

Okay, dont mind me...feels like crying and laughing at the same time, thinking about the subject of growing up!😐

    There's a better way...

It works better with the YaHell cry smiley but it's what we used to do in YaHell NAC (Native American Chat) to indicate laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes.

I'm not sure of the issue but my avatar seems to be floating, going into the ground, constantly. I've looked into ways to resolve this..And my hover height is set at 50. I know that seems to be a common issue. I also try to adjust the hover height under preferences. But where it seems to fix the issue when i stand, as soon as i try to go and sit i'll be floating.

Is there a standard hover height i should be set at? There are pictures to give examples.

It hard to tell from the image but it looks like you are trying to use viewer preferences to adjust for height on furniture. It doesn't work that way. Use the menu in the furniture to adjust.

OMG! Am I the only person who's been on second life for quite some time and still can not get their avatar appearance right? No matter how many make overs, no matter how many skins I buy i just can't get it to look.... idk? It really plays on my mind too when I meet other people who's avatars are just awesome!!!! it's like Okay forget it i'll just be invisible. *turns on invisible avatar*

Also my avatar is six years old but i only started using it three years ago but i've been struggling to get it right ever since.

Is this only me? I'd hope not.

It took me 10 years to get my system  AV just the way I wanted it. And then came mesh bodies. Yeah... still tweaking on it. No, no twerking! Tweaking! Get yer mind outta da gutta. :D

Not just profiles. I have several group chats open on a daily basis and help out in a few. People more and more refuse to read anything. Whether it be instructions, group rules, profiles, group notices. They want everything spoon fed and the willingness to find information or even read information handed to them on a platter is more and more non-existent.

Good to know I haven't been imagining things the last few years. Thanks.

That's not what retaliation lawsuit means. It's a suit over retaliation by the employer over complaints of harassment or discrimination.

Then she needs to change her wording to make it clear that is her intent. As it stands, ti doesn't read that way. Especially to people who have no knowledge of these types of court cases.

Retaliation goes both ways. It is not a one way street.
