  1. They offered this to select merchants over a month ago. Obviously not enough uptake. Issues with the existing system and Marketplace website continue to go unanswered. The existing ad system fails to provide any value for money so I have stopped using it. What makes LL think i would risk any additional funds to support this system? I see this as just another grasping at the idea of more money for essentially providing the same service which is...to promote and sell our goods via the marketplace for a percentage of the sale price. Stop trying to charge us more and fix the ad services you currently have. They used to sell product, now no longer. Examine the reasons why people are not using them as they used to...and fix it else your ad revenue will continue to decline.

  2. Even Concierge customers wait two months for support tickets. See https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-2734

Xstreet support is non existent and Live chat refuses to help with Xstreet matters.
Jiras about Xstreet faults get dismissive replies, valid questions continue to go unanswered.
No office hours means we cannot ask questions and get replies, nor give input. Am tired of arguing for commonsense solutions in jiras with Brodesky. Also tired of see half-assed solutions - If Torley has to give a video tutorial on sending a gift to a friend thru Marketplace - then its clearly not a well thought out solution.

Recent downgrades to live chat hours, downgrades to languages, and more 'self-help' were referred to as 'enhancements'

    Jiras remain unassigned.

Live chat gets deliberate hangups,  long waits, and chat failures.

Even the server team gives replies using terms like "impossible" despite clearly being able to do so for certain customers.

'Making Strides' ? Improvements? We want actual concrete details...'cause this reads like feel-good marketing speak and the reference to 'continuing to access the full range of services" when they are clearly causing much unhappiness in their current form is not reassuring.

Remember the commitment to transparency? For instance - what actual changes are you making that will improve ticket response times to less than two months? What is the target response time that you think is ideal? Will you be holding office hours to get our feedback?

    Next Steps for Mesh Import

must forcibly "learn something new".?? i said YOUR choice - how is that me forcing you? It's about freedom to manipulate others' creations and make simple creations yourself. YOU can still do this with meshes.

*as it was on the other stages of technology*.  Wrong (again) there was no in world sculptie creation tools at first.. people made them. In fact sculpties were, and are harder to create inworld and out world than mesh.

I did actually mean the decision is yours Prokofy, it was not meant at all facetiously. We cannot force you and no one wants to force you ..to learn.
I was simply pointing out you made a choice to learn to use SL... you can make that choice again. Its really not that hard , certainly not exotic (all SL is made of mesh) and not any more complex than the learning curve you have already achieved by creating in SL. In fact its vastly easier because you already know most of the concepts and terminology - like XYZ axis etc. Many of the programs listed above are free and especially designed for beginners to learn, beginners way less skilled than you already are with 3D.

Seriously Prokofy, an hours research on the net (watching youtube) would show you how easy it is to make a mesh - its certainly much easier than sculpts and prims  - and you can make do so much more, better and easier without workarounds we are all using.
I am even happy to devote some time (if you will screenshare) to show you how easy it is.

Provky...Did you already know how to use prims to make something before SL.?
No, you learnt to do it

Whats your problem with learning something new? We ALL had to do it at some stage. I learnt to make sculpties when they came out - so did many others. I am waiting to adapt my skills to make meshes for SL when it comes out...many others will too.

You can resent change, you can fight change, but this mesh change is coming - it's been coming for over a year now. You can continue to rant/vent/and focus on the negative...or you could today decide "i'm going to be in on this" and start learning - the skills needed are really not that hard - and best of all its a skill that can be transferred to other websites, to other worlds (thereby reducing our dependence on SL).
Even bad meshes command much better revenue on 3d sites than in SL.

The decision is yours, and yours alone.

    100% right.

Sculpts became simply another prim type. You could up skill and create your own, choose to purchase packs made by others for integrating into your build. Or avoid because prims still had some advantages.

Same with meshes... choose to up skill, purchase from others who do, or avoid because sculpts and prims will still have some advantages. Ie; the prim count for meshes will be a big factor

But at last we will be able to have clothes that deform with the avatar - think one piece boots that bend at the ankle. One piece jackets that bend at the joints.

There will always be winners and losers when a new tech hits the fan...its the way of any world..even a virtual one

I, for one, welcome our mesh overlords

  3. This strikes me as a cop-out.

We are getting the OPTION of display names. Its gonna add a ton of complexity to inworld. What people asked for was the ability to choose their last name... something that is relatively simple to add. There are already ways to add extra names above our heads. Instead we get something we didn't ask for - at a level of complexity we don't need .

Theres plenty of instances of things that we ask for that are simple to add - but they get ignored. For instance control of windlight settings for all sim visitors - something another grid added in ONE week. Our jira for it has been sitting there over a year, ignored apart from Torley saying 'coming'. That feature alone would make so many people happy and SL a more beautiful place.

LL hires a VP of marketing. Ignores the fact that your existing users are your best (and free) form of advertising. Users who are waiting over a month for support tickets to be looked at now - and its going to get worse because you're trimming support services. People are tired of not being listened to, frustrated with not getting support and frankly i find it hypocritical to be saying 'we don't like adding options' when LL is announcing new options we don't ask for.

Look at this Emerald debacle... why has it happened?... because Emerald could give people options they wanted - so it became hugely popular. Then their team let us down unfortunately. It wouldn't be a problem if LL had originally given us the options people asked for - but they were ignored because someone decided we needed a completely new viewer instead.

Don't tell us you don't like adding options because they add complexity, when LL has spent over a year on a new viewer that has added huge complexity to all your processes. Try listening to what we want instead of justifying your existing beliefs.

The customer ain't always right...but it certainly helps a business to listen to them and give due consideration.
