  1. What is the exact message you get when you try to log on? First thing I'd try is clearing your cache and restart your computer. See if you can get on then?
  2. Where did you see this one time charge? In your bank account? In the account section of your dashboard?
  3. Yes, I apologize I was not clear. When talking about demo products I was mostly speaking of clothing. I don't think I would need a demo of a mesh object any more than I would a sculpty. But with clothing fit is important and not a guarantee.
  4. Hey there! If you are a premium member then you have land available to you. If you already picked out your home then I think it says something like "Your new home is waiting for you!" To check and see if you have already have your land, sign into your dashboard. On the left there is a box with a number of different options (Home, Account, Events, etc.). One of the options in this box is Land manager. Click on that. A sub menu will drop down. Click on My Mainland. To the right it will list any parcels you own. If there is nothing there then you still have to choose your land. If there is something there then the location will be written in blue/green. If you have a location, click on it and a new webpage with the slurl to your new home will pop up. You can then either click the teleport now button or copy and past the slurl into local chat and open up the chat box and click to teleport to your land. If there is NO land listed under My Mainland then you still have to choose your home. To the far right there is a box that says "Your own private home in Second Life" with a yellow button that says "get your home now". Click that button and follow the steps
  5. In addition to the above post... There was 2 other times I became a white oval... The first was in an instance of severe lag caused by my connection. Apparently they were working on my internet service and I could barely load a webpage... The second time was when I made the mistake of trusting the computer sales person who didn't actually know anything about computers. (That laptop was promptly returned the next day). The sales person had told me that the graphics card was a high end ATI... (it wasn't). He assumed, apparently, that a fast processor automatically means it comes with a great graphics card....
  6. Even with the deformer I will still champion for all designers to provide demos for any mesh clothing. Much like with hair, even though something can be resized to fit, does not mean it will look right on your avatar. I'm glad to hear that many designers are putting out demos. My OP was based on my own shopping experience. Admittedly I have not gone out LOOKING for mesh clothing. Nor will I for awhile in all honesty... I've bought 2 pieces of mesh clothing... One for my boi avatar and one for my femme avatar... And neither designer offered demos... And both pieces turned out to be bad for their respective avatars... I don't make clothing so I have no idea how much extra work it is to put out a demo version of an item.. But I will go out on a limb and say it will be more profitable to any designer in the long run. I know I'm not the only one that would be far more comfortable spending lindens on something that I'm confident I'll actually be able to use.
  7. On my old sim I had the land available to the public. Nearly every day I would get at least one avatar tp in, turn in circles in regular intervals and then tp out. These avatars would never respond to my IMs and most of them had little to nothing in their profiles. I don't remember the full names but one that I saw frequently had the first name "Adele". I was pretty sure they were bots due to the regular intervals that they would turn... Though what their purpose was is beyond me. Highly unlikely it's a stalker. I wouldn't think it would be much fun as a stalker to just appear and disappear. A stalker would probably play with you. Another possibility is if the land you are on used to be commercial and people are ending up there by using old LMs.
  8. LOL Yes. I agree. And I'm done. She has her answers if she chooses to ever believe them. I think this is a simple case of, "But it's not the answer I want."
  9. Both questions answered. Many times. By me. And by others. Go back and read. I'm done repeating myself.
  10. Another thing to keep in mind, as another resident has already told you is the importance of context. The quote you listed contains nothing even remotely offensive. The only thing that could be deemed as offensive is the person who is attributed to have originally said it. In which case you would be suggesting that even mentioning the names of controversial figures in history would be against LL rules, which I am fairly confident in saying that is not the case.
  11. The answer was also simple and you have been told by multiple residents. The community standards in the TOS state that you cannot have stuff in your profile that is offensive or crude. However, that is a very OBJECTIVE statement. So therefore, the only way to know if LL deems it offensive is to file an abuse report. But, your original post stated that it was on a third party website. So NO. It is NOT against LL rules. You can put whatever you want on a third party site. You can say anything you want about SL or LL. They have NO control over a third party site. If someone makes that quote IN world then the TOS is OBJECTIVE. Basically, what LL says is if you find it objectionable, file an Abuse Report. If they feel it shouldn't be there, they will have it removed. I answered your question as best any non-Linden can, as have multiple other residents in both of your threads.
  12. Hey Karma... I'm not really sure why you are reposting this question. It seems to me your question was answered several times in the previous thread. To summarize the answers others have given you: The quote you are referring to was posted on a third party website... One that is NOT run by LL. Even though everyone on the site is a SL resident, LL has no control over what is done outside of their property. Now let's say you saw this quote on someone's profile. (That is an area that LL would have control over.) The TOS is vague when it comes to community standards. It essentially says don't be obscene and don't use offensive terms. That is a very objective. If you feel that what was written was offensive and against the SL community standards then, as others have told you, all you can do is file an Abuse Report and let LL decide. Even if someone blatantly violated the community standards, filling their profile with profanity and overtly racist comments, this would be the action you take. After you file an Abuse Report it is out of your hands and up to LL to decide.
  13. Which viewer are you using? Have you tried using a different viewer and/or a clean install of your current viewer to see if the problem persists?
  14. This isn't a rant or a rave and I sincerely hope this thread doesn't disintegrate into that... As a consumer the one thing I would like to see from those that make and sell mesh products is demo's. I'm not sure if some are doing them but the places I've gone to haven't had them. Mesh is SO different from all other kinds of clothing out there. Buying mesh clothing is much more like buying hair than it is other forms of clothing. With mesh... It depends on your shape. That is a bit of a problem. I've purchased a couple of mesh products that I loved in the picture but they just didn't fit my shape. Unless there are demos I don't think I will ever be purchasing mesh clothing again. The cost is generally too much to risk when there's a good chance it won't fit. So... Not a rant. Just something I'd like to see. Put demo text on or a giant box above our head or something. But since we can't edit mesh I think having a demo would make many consumers more secure about making a purchase.
  15. This happened to me last weekend. I've never seen anything like it. I was suddenly wearing things I didn't even know I had in inventory. I had error messages flashing across the screen... I was panicked because I was in the middle of a busy store. It was spectacular. Events leading up to this: I was in the store to pick out a new shape. At one point I was distracted and accidentally wore the FOLDER instead of the shape. So there I was in a busy store naked and feeling like a complete noob. That was fun. No problem. Outfit folders have made mistakes like this much quicker to fix than they used to be. I went to my outfits folder and picked one of my outfits and dragged it onto me. Nothing happened except a bakefail. So now I was a naked blur. Even better. I tried rebake to no avail but the last couple weeks I've had a number of times where dragging an outfit folder onto my avatar has taken ages to load. After several minutes I was a colorful blur and rebake was not solving my issues so I relogged. Generally, after a relog, my outfit will load and I can continue on with my virtual life. This time was special. Upon relog was when I discovered that my entire inventory was attempting to attach itself to my avatar. At first I tried detaching objects. Every time I would detach an object a new one would appear. Best I could tell, whatever happened was maxing out my attach points and whenever I would detach an object a new one would appear. (Detach the boat and here comes a spaceship!) Eventually I gave up and just character tested. After character testing I repeated my attempt to drag an outfit folder onto my avatar. This time I was successful and continued shopping for shapes like nothing ever happened. In my case, the character test was successful... I know you said you tried this but there may be a few key differences in our cases. First, since I had tried a few things before character testing, my inventory had been given a chance to fully load. That may be one part of the problem. I know that the sight of strange and potentially embarrassing objects attaching en mass to your avatar tends to induce panic... But try to stay calm and be patient. Even though we are able to move around immediately after login, there are often still other processes taking awhile longer to load. Let those happen. Second, when I did my character test, I was sure to give the new avatar plenty of time to load before attempting to wear my outfit folder. I know of a few times where I was moving too quickly and my character test did no good because the new avatar had not loaded before I tried to change back. If a cache clear and character test do not work then your only choice may be to file a ticket. LL should still be answering those, even for non-premium members... Though it may take awhile to get a response. Good luck!
  16. For what it's worth some of the most breathtaking sims I have been to were AM Radio sims. While I wish LL would step in and make it possible to retain these sims, I'm not holding my breath that they will. So I will let my friends know... And we will explore these sims in the coming months, take many photos, and when the time comes and these stunning creations fade away, we will very likely remember them for a long time to come... I will be sad to see them go.
  17. That was my first thought. I think I've seen some other random hovertext too. My guess it's all a part of the same issue.
  18. Hey all. I rent a full homestead that's not attached to any other regions. Every couple months or so I can be at home alone on the sim and I see one or two other avatar's crosshairs. The last time this happened I IMed one of the people. They had no clue why and they had never been to my sim before. Anyone else ever experienced this before or have any idea why? It's not a problem. I'm just curious why it's happening.

    AutoReturn

Well.. My opinion stands. If you have something that is ARable such as encroachment or if you see a copybotted item then by all means AR it if you have to. But as someone else said, if they are paying their tier then you cannot force someone to have whatever land settings you would like them to have. If they choose to use a ton of particles it's their choice. You can AR for unfair use of resources but, as you said, it is unlikely that you will get a result from that. If you want that much control over land you are probably better off in a private region. It all comes down to the fact that you cannot force people to act responsibly. Until/unless LL decides to enact script limits there is not much that can be done about that. Some people find particles pretty. You can always disable them on your viewer. If it's copybotted AR it. But you cannot force someone who is paying their tier to turn on auto return. For abandoned land I agree it's a good idea but when someone owns the land it is up to them.

    AutoReturn

Having a messy land is not an ARable offence. While it may be unsightly to you, it is not up to any resident how another resident makes use of the land that they pay for. As long as the objects rezzed are not in violation of the land's maturity rating a resident may be as cluttered as they wish.

    AutoReturn

On my mainland parcel I have rezzing turned off because only a couple of people know about it. However, my homestead I have rezzing/build on with no auto-return. My reason is I allow my friends to use my parcel if they wish. There may be times when they wish to build and aren't able to get back to it for a week. If something stays too long I'll IM them. It may be more work for me but that's how I have chosen to do things. Granted this is on a private region and not mainland, so the traffic is much lower, but I think that if I had my primary land on the mainland I would choose to do it the same way. It is better than it used to be, but group space is at a premium and is not always feasible for someone to join a group just to rez.
  22. Hey horse and welcome to second life to change your hair color and style when starting out it's best to visit a few freebies places. If you type in "freebies" into search a lot of places should show up. They have anything from hair to clothes and anything else you could possibly imagine. For altering your shape, if you right click on your avatar and choose edit appearance, a box will come up that will allow you to change different parts of your avatar. You can use this to customize the size and shape of your avi or you can get a freebie shape from one of the freebie places when you are out looking for hair and other accessories for your avatar. Good luck!
  23. I've heard of some antivirus stoneware flagging voice as unsafe also. See if you can add it to a safe list?
