  1. Email might possibly be better today/this evening. My avatar name @ gmail.
  2. The answer would be "no". Premium membership includes 512m of tier. If you both had premium accounts, then you would, together, have 1024m of tier which you are not charged for - above your premium, that is. So if you went to the $75 tier level, you personally would have 16384 + 512 = 16896 available to you. Where it gets a little confusing, but works to your advantage, is if you establish a group for yourself and your partner, and contribute all of your tier allocation to the group. When you do this, you increase your maximum land allocation under your tier level by ten percent. So if you were at the 8192 level and you did this, you would have 8192m + 512m + 10% = 9574m available at no extra cost. At the $75 level, you would have 16384m + 512m + 10% = 18586m ... without having to pay for the extra premium. One thing that you have to be careful about, though, is that you allocate your tier to the group *before* buying any land. And when you buy the land, select "Buy for Group". This is especially important if buying a large plot of land - because the bonus is not figured in unless it's bought for (or deeded to) the group. You don't want to go over and land in the *next* tier bracket - especially not over a matter of 16m. It's not mandatory to group your land - but the 10% bonus is there, so why not take advantage of it, yeah? Setting land to group will also give your partner (or anyone in the group) greater access to the land settings (parcel media, terraforming, building if the land is set to no-build, etc.). Here is some more information on setting land to a group. Good luck!
  3. Chill. Relax. http://www.exo.net/~pauld/secondlife/PrivateEstateGd_Winter2006.pdf The number you need is on page 6.
  4. You will receive the L$1000 bonus after 45 days of premium membership. However, you should start receiving a weekly stipend of L$300 starting Tuesday. Hope this helps!
  5. Wait, you paid $50 for L$20,000? That's like ... 400 lindens to the USD. I want to know how you got such an outstanding deal, as the going rate is 260 - 270 to the USD. Dude, if you got that deal? I wouldn't be screaming all that loudly.
  6. Also, if you are using Firefox, install the BetterPrivacy plugin (Google "betterprivacy firefox") and delete any supercookies that may have been set.
  7. I was just explaining this to my partner this morning - why all of my business land is deeded to group. Our home parcel is all in her name, and we own nearly 12000m of a beachfront mainland sim. If she deeded it to group, we could add a bonus 1200m to her land holdings there. Just always be certain to check the land holdings in the group's Land tab, and be sure that you're never under allocated - you could have some or all of your grouped land seized if it stays that way for too long.
  8. I spent my entire evening last night dealing with someone I evicted from one of my sims who devolved from someone who might be sensible and reasonable to an irrational, frothing, delusional candidate for a mental institution. Claimed to be a UN-hired psychiatrist tasked with an important mission of studying prostitutes and vampires in Second Life, that I was hampering his oh-so-very-important international work, and that he would be reporting to the UN in Geneva to make sure that I would be in serious trouble. Oh, and he had some sort of "incriminating photographs" to show me. This was after he sexually harassed one of my tenants not less than three hours after buying an empty parcel from her, being served with an eviction notice, turning around and "selling" his property to his alt (the names were almost identical, as though I wouldn't know), and then threatening both of us continually after I confiscated the land from his alt. Oh, and getting a carryover of someone's drama from here into my inworld IM as well. (Contact me inworld, Daria, I'd be interested to find out if we shared love from the same llama.) I think yesterday was International Batsh*ttery Day.
  9. Imagine if LL rewarded points with free mainland tier or a small reward stipend per month depending on points. Given that gaming wouldn't be a problem, I'm sure you'd see attitudes improve some.
  10. The simple answer? "You get what you pay for. Or more correctly, what LL pays for." Which is nil. Such is the nature of an all-volunteer "staff" who essentially clock-in and out when they feel like it. Some are bright-eyed and bushy tailed. Some are bushy-eyed and smart arsed. Some will tell you to "RTFM" because the question has already been asked and answered (and archived) 10 times in the past week. But LL's paid tech support would tell you the same thing if you file a support ticket asking a question which has already been definitely answered online by LL staff. They just wouldn't sign it "UR MOM".
  11. Visit the Miramare or Watherhead infohubs once. Daria is a Girl Scout by comparison. Also, welcome.
  12. What scraping? I went to SL Search, typed in "Prokofy Neva", and got this: http://world.secondlife.com/resident/02da98ac-3e2e-4e8f-bedc-d0e2a1c670b4 Your UUID is the URL. Always has been, as far as I can tell. Filed under "Much Ado About Nothing".
  13. If the sim is owned by you (i.e., you pay Linden Lab monthly fees directly, and not to another resident), there are people who will buy your sim. Provided that your transfer can be done before your tier is due. I would suggest contacting Sarah Nerd inworld.
  14. I want the drugs that let me stay inworld even when I'm logged out. Would make work much more interesting.
  15. I have seen experienced an attack like this on a parcel near a shopping district I co-own. Don't accept anything. Don't click any blue drop down buttons. Teleport to another area. Log out. Log back in to the location you logged out of. Problem solved. As for the other problems you're having, they are most certainly unrelated to SL. You cannot get a virus from anything in Second Life. Also, are you connected directly to your cablemodem? If so, consider putting a router between you and the modem. And as Daria so politely put it, get much better PC protection than Norton.
  16. If someone is definitely saying, "Yes, I am a male/female in RL" and they're not, that is a deliberate misrepresentation. But that can happen regardless of gender.
  17. Abuse is abuse. Abuse knows no gender. When entering into Second Life, the first truth to grasp and embrace is, "Anything is possible". The second is "Presume nothing". Not every resident is going to reflect their RL gender, appearance, race or even species. If this creates a problem for you - i.e., falling for a beautiful female or handsome male avatar who may be the opposite gender in RL, then I would strongly advise you against romantic advances. It is not "abuse" to be a particular gender, or to portray one. While everyone's experience in SL is different, a very common thread is that of role-playing.
  18. I do think this is a bit much. Some creators charge L$1 simply because it makes it easier to track trends. Since most hair and skin designers use non-scripted vendors, they rely upon LL's transaction history to tell not only what people are buying, but what people are thinking about buying. By charging L$1, they are able to filter out L$0 transactions (which includes every notecard, every landmark, every resident-to-resident inventory offer, etc. etc.). Designers certainly are not getting rich off of demos, trust me.
  19. As a Zindra land owner, and someone who uses alts for furniture adjustment, I can state from first-hand experience that my alts are not age-verified but are tied to my Paypal account (basic accounts) and all can reach Zindra.
  20. https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=4417&task=knowledge&questionID=6362 Validate your account as Adult Linden Lab has implemented maturity ratings in the Second Life® virtual world that are used to indicate the type of content that can be found and created in various locations inworld. For more information about maturity ratings, see Maturity ratings: an overview. Most Residents are already Adult verified. Your account should already be verified as Adult if you have ever: Had a payment relationship with Linden Lab. Added US$ to your XStreet account using a verified PayPal account. Gone through the Age Verification process. If you have participated in one of the above account options, your account is verified as Adult and you can now opt in to view Adult Content. If you are having trouble verifying your account, refer to the support instructions at the bottom of the article. If you have not participated in one of the above options and would like to verify your account, there are three ways to do this: Add payment info on file for your account with Linden Lab. Go through the Age Verification process. Put USD on your XstreetSL account from a verified PayPal account. Set up a payment relationship with Linden Lab: Login to your My Account page. Select Update Billing Information under the Membership section. Select Update Credit Card Info or Continue to PayPal. Enter either a credit card number or a verified PayPal account.
  21. The answer is as simple as it is complicated. On mainland, parcel access can be restricted either by "age verification on file" or "payment information on file" - or both. The entire continent of Zindra, however, has a unique restriction process - access is granted on an either/or basis - whether you have age-verified or provided payment information (credit card, Paypal), you can access Zindra. Perhaps you can contact the owner of the parcel in question, explain the situation, and get added to the "Approved Residents" list. Whether this will override the parcel restriction, I don't know and can't test at the moment. But if they are in doubt, agree to meet them in Zindra to prove you can TP there.
  22. I believe there is a setting in the land parcel (or it might be the region menu, I don't have a way to check at the moment) that allows the owner to permit or restrict rezzing of Linden plants. Wherever it's located, it's a tickbox specifically for this purpose. It might also be in the group settings. I'm sorry I can't be more help at the moment. But it should be in one of these three places.
