  1. I think most people take us as they see us in SL and fill in what they want to believe. Wanting to believe is stronger than any other inconsistencies in how we act.

I've only once gone exploring in a male avie I made as a model for a friend's shop. He wasn't particularly manly, and didn't say much, but quite quickly a girl latched on to me and told me all about herself, including that she was a model in rl.

  2. Yep, I bought something that had a very different colour from the photo (one of those artistic product photos where it's a little hard to tell). But it had no demo and I took my chances because I liked the creator's other products. The creator had a lot of nice freebies so I let it slide and never complained.

Another time I bought something where the HUD didn't work, and the maker was in the process of fixing it when I messaged her. I think in most cases it's just a simple mistake, not an intent to mislead.

Q: How many Lindens does it take to change a light bulb?

A: Please, everyone, be patient, we're doing the best we can, it's not fun for us either, check the blog for updates, and in the meantime, here's our Torley with "10 Super Fun Things To Do in the Dark!"

Q: How many forum readers does it take to change a lightbulb?

    A:
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed,
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently,
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs,
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ...,
another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid,
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp",
5 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct,

9 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb forum,
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum,
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty,

5 People to post pics of their own light bulbs,
15 People to post "I can't see S$%^!" and their own light bulbs,
7 to post SURL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs,
4 to post that the SURL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected SURL's,
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too",
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy,
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

13 to say "do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs",
1 to bring politics into the discussion by adding that George W. isn't the brightest bulb,
4 more to get into personal attacks over their political views,
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again,
1 Linden to lock the light bulb thread.

(Note this is obviously an old joke, because there are way too many forum posters in it.)

+1 to respond in meme form.

My not suped up, regular duper, newly built (with some old parts included) built by me gaming computer runs 2 ALM enabled viewers in ultra, at 60 fps.  Maybe you just have a hot rig.  My previous video card was super hot, constantly firing up the fans like it was about to take off, but it turned out that that´s how that video card worked.

Possibly I've picked equipment that doesn't play nice with SL, but that's been the case for my last 3 computers. I can run other games on ultra settings without my GPU & CPU breaking a sweat, but SL with ALM on and standing still = 🔥

So the next hot thing in 2023 could be:
"Sorry, but I have to unfriend you, because the lamps in your living room don't reflect in your windows!"

do not worry, just make a female avie with big boobies and you will have friends no matter where the shadows fall.

As for ALM, I still leave it off except for pics because it makes my (souped up super duper newly built by a professional geek gaming computer) get hotter than it should. No idea why, but off ALM stays.

I agree. And, for the sake of transparency, let's keep this dialogue in public.
What are we talking about here exactly? What do you mean by accounts?

Oh, the usual. Retainers, personal donations, special discounts. Miscellaneous outgoings, agents' fees, political contributions, management expenses.

  7. Today I saw a news article featuring VR/Metaverse projects from S. Korea, India, Thailand, China, Taiwan and Vietnam. All either directly selling some merchandise via virtual influencers or via play-to-earn "games". There's awareness there's money out there (an industry worth an estimated $1 trillion so they say) but nothing so far has really crossed into the mainstream. It all seems to be money thrown at potential and hype, and I seriously doubt any of the investors have the first clue about the technology. That said if LL can cash in on some of this sudden surge of interest, good for them. At least SL is a product that actually exists.

Closing the QEII thread was a bad call by LL.  There are events going on in SL in memory of her, and it would have been nice to have been able to post links to said events for those who wish to attend.

If it's about an inworld event, that ought to be ok to post I suppose?

The Queen visited my workplace in 2006. I wasn't on duty that day - so jealous of my boss who met and showed her around. Us colonials also had a soft spot for her. ☺️

So happy it provided a respite from whatever weighed you down. And truly, there’s nothing better than a good SH** story.🤪

you're a good story teller. Maybe you'd consider writing your SL memoirs? If I may venture a title: The Undeleted 😊

It's a place for mistakes because you can begin again.

I was watching an entrepreneur speaking about his experiences and he said something like: An expert is someone who has failed in every possible way in his area of specialisation.

I'm sure there are plenty more dumb things I can do in SL before I become expert 😁
