  1. @FairreLilette: There is a system level/type folder within the Inventory labeled as "Settings" This is where any user created EEP presets go. If you've purchased any EEP presets, you should be unpacking them and putting them there to find them more easily. As for the naming conventions .... Windlight was not immune to such names either.
  2. Yes and? As I stated in my direct response, the specific category for being new User friendly needs to be first in the list and needs more scrutiny if they're going to keep the Destination Guide. You are preaching to the choir on this one.
  3. Making this a separate response to the above: I was one of the users that simply rolled my eyes when the Destination Guide was opened up. Partly because I'd never use it and partly because I predicted that the current situation would arise. To give my brutally honest opinion? It needs to simply go away as a whole.
  4. That is a matter of opinion, one which I do not share. There is a category for Newcomer Friendly places, this should be at the top of the list and given a fair bit more scrutiny. Do note that one of the weighted criteria listed concerns being open to/friendly toward new users.
  5. Unless there's something I have missed, the Destination Guide is not explicitly geared to display only areas that are friendly/available to new users. That distinction goes to a rather specific category within it. If the places in that category are kicking brand new users then yes, there's a problem.
  6. Unless they have seriously pared down the New User areas and instructions there is no way that someone should be unable to understand how to remove individual items from their Avatar. If they have pared it down that much, it needs to change ASAP. They also need to ensure that their Wiki is kept up to date and make it very apparent that Orientation is only meant to cover basics - that there is much they'll have to actually read and still more they'll need to experience first hand.
  7. You had a specific setting enabled (be it accidentally or purposely) which, when disabled, would have hidden the chat of the person you'd Blocked/Muted. Nothing "arrogant" in pointing that out nor in pointing out how the tools function nor indeed in pointing out that this is normal for many services.
  8. Do cease pretending to know why it keeps being mentioned. ETA: Being rather crystal clear with this, there is no reason whatsoever to present the imagined distinction between the Search as presented through the main web page (as loaded into an external web browser) and the Search as presented within the Linden Viewer/TPV WebSearch panels. None. The currently broken function is Search. The currently (mostly) functional system used by some TPVs is Legacy Search. That is the only distinction that needs to be made.
  9. The Search used inside of Linden Lab's own Viewer and the one that is optionally usable (as opposed to the classic variant many TPV also use) is the exact same system as the "external version" ... They're the exact same page. Stop trying to treat them as if they aren't.
  10. I'll make this short and simple: No. Do not deign to tell someone who specifically did things as you're suggesting that they did it wrong. You had your Limit Buy filled within minutes? That's nice! Doesn't always work that way and won't always work that way - that's the reality. If such has changed over the years, also lovely. Don't really care - I'm not looking to penny pinch that much and quite frankly if you're looking to penny pinch over L$ transactions while paying a fair sized Tier rate? You might want to reexamine your priorities.
  11. That's nice. You have Show Muted Chat turned on. Shut it off and stop complaining. Grayed out avatar? That is functioning as intended - the primary function of Block/Mute is to hide local chat (unless you've turned on Show Muted Chat) and to prevent you from seeing any sort of details concerning the now Blocked/Muted Avatar - meaning they can no longer use any aspect of their appearance to get at you. Everything beyond that is on you (in general at this point). A "normal" person will take the hint and move on. Some might persist for a bit, until it gets through to them that you've chosen to Block them. Griefers and such? That depends on how determined they are to get a reaction out of you and there is nothing (outside of continuing to Block/Mute and Report Abuse) you can do at that point. Just about every service out there has their variations on these problems. Such is life.
  12. M'kay. Now, unless you've explicitly enabled the option to do so, you cannot see the local chat of a user you have decided to Block/Mute. They appear as a nondescript gray form? So. What. You blocked/muted. You cannot see their chat unless you specifically opt to see it and there's pretty much not a thing visually they can do to mess with you. Nothing more needs to be done.
  13. Debug setting: NoInventoryLibrary. Set it to True. Now how about not assuming your experience is the norm on that, hmm? On blocking: Block/Mute the individual, move on with your Second Life. It literally does not matter if they can still see or hear you. At all. You blocked/muted them, not the other way around. They get to decide if you've merited the same for them. Either way, you're no longer interacting with them.
  14. Point blank: If you miss the Community section on the Dashboard and the fact that it has a section clearly labeled for the forum .... Well, there's nothing at all nice I can finish that wish. As for the Lindex and Limit Vs Instant Buy? Used it a grand total of once while undercutting the Exchange Rate as some have suggested. Guess what? It took quite a while to fill.
  15. Well, I am rather glad this thread popped up again ... seeing as in the last eight months I have lost two dear friends who I spent a fair amount of time with, in SL. Sadly, it seems the Memorial Park's flower planting system is ... glitchy. Thankfully I do have my own ways to remember/memorialize the two lost friends.
  16. Yep - which is quite normal for the OP. Not really, though they'll try to pretend otherwise, usually by pretending to speak for others.
  17. Wine, if you're willing and able to tip, go right ahead - just don't break your bank. If you're willing but not able (been there quite often), don't sweat it. This, coming from someone who used to DJ in SL. Tips are nice if/when they happen. They won't always.
  18. Sort of. Premium Users can, but it costs extra on top of that. Mind, there's still the Display Names.
  19. Probably because not everyone has pages upon pages of unrelated items sitting in their results.
  20. That's nice. I'd leave them in. If you have no reason to use those function/entries ... don't use them. If you don't understand what they do (no matter how much documentation is given) ... don't use them. They're little more than "advanced" advanced settings. Now a case could be made to remove the Admin functions ... However the Lindens tend to use the exact same Viewer they release for general use and have done so for quite some time. Good luck changing that.
  21. You are assuming I want it to be "simpler" according to your definition of removal of features/interface flexibility. No. Hard no. Shifting and renaming functions to make more sense is acceptable. Giving easier access to functions normally locked behind the Debug Settings dialog ... is acceptable. So no, I don't have to be very specific. Unless something drastically changes, I'll have few issues tracking down any moved/renamed functions. As long as ample documentation exists somewhere that can be relied upon, even fewer issues. To sum up: You're asking the wrong person, the wrong questions. ETA: Do reread the post you quoted as it as edited to clarify what I want removed. I want people's expectations for a "simple" Viewer removed. No, not the functions they suggest ... the expectations themselves. Removed. From them.
