  1. What's it say about exporting in the Wiki? wiki Not much.
  2. I'm a premium member for another few days till basic kicks in. Thanks but no thanks, I don't want no boat. It's a pity they are giving away just one thing instead of a choice from a range of things. Looks like another creator promotion to me but I couldn't care less anyway anymore.
  3. If one is visited by Satan in a dream, chances are good they will see him soon. DON'T DRIVE! Do not eat at a restaraunt or fast food place because of risk of food contamination. It's serious, be careful friend.
  4. What happened to "Text on a Prim"? That was around two or three years ago. I know it was in OpenSim, it was as too easy and convenient for everything text. Guess I just dreamed it was implimented in SL but I wonder why not. Oh yeah. went bigger shiny with HTML on a Prim and walked all over the simple text.
  5. I gave up on sarcasm a long time ago. Doesn't work on internets. People don't know how to read or write or punctuate correctly. uc wat I meen.
  6. WOW, now that's a name for a nightclub. The ever popular word now has a home.
  7. I'd use sculpts for the sails then you can srcipt it to change sculpt image, make it flap, whatever. The Hull (or the big bits) could be broken into smaller pieces to may make it better. on PE. Worth a try.
  8. Well I do beleive that an NPC type thing is in the pipeline. Combine that with some better AI and you have RPGs and anything else that comes to mind, which is plenty. Mesh, custom bones and rigging, AI... I think I'll be able to be Dragonborn in SL.
  9. You may just have to use more keyframes to tween the anims.
  10. I'd say it's not the booleans, it's the way the normals are facing. Check those and get back. Images help, you know, thousands of words and all that.
  11. Texturing (nicely) is the hardest part of making mesh objects IMO. Getting nice UVs is the objective but can take an age sometimes. On the other hand, texturing sculpties is simple but making them is difficult. Advice? Start simple, a box. Perfect unwrapping a box first. Then a tetrahedron or something and by all means unwrap Suzanne (in Blender) and texture that., for practice. Vids too, there's heaps out there. When I see mesh objects that are only coloured and not textured, I just assume that the maker gave up on the texturing.
  12. It's most likely going to need a lot of work. If the model is high poly already then it will need at least, two reductions and a physics shell. Any doors or moving parts must be made especially to conform to rotations. Just pointing out what may be involved, no mesh in SL is a simple upload.
  13. This is one of those "Gotchas". Due to unwrapped UV faces being individual islands. Each Vert/edge is now counted more than once if it's not directly connected in the unwrap. There's more info buried somewhere. eta: same going on here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Mesh/Differing-vertices-with-UVs/m-p/1220409
  14. Ahh, the joys of UV texturing. Fiddley, isn't it. I can only spaek about Blender: Looks like you've got a "Project from view" UV, front and back. That's ok but not generally used for model heads. You should be able to seam around the neck, then up from back of neck to the hairline and unwrap in one surface. Any parts that will not unwrap well, may be separated by seams, like (more complex) ears and mouth. Check the SL skin templates at how they look. Unwrapping is the final hard part of most models I've made. After that it's just baking and Gimping. Just keep at it, check a few (more) tuts. The knowledge: Once you get it, you got it, you keep it. And I do laugh at some new mesh products that come in plain colors and no AO shadows. Only because they can't or gave up on texturing them. Keep at it people. Good luck.
  15. My sculpty Xmas tree from 2009 started selling again on Nov 1, all by itself. So people are looking.
  16. Bug quickly becomes an op's problem and not bug. News at eleven.
  17. (and lets not get started with things like star wars, I mean the droid phones had to pay Lucas Arts just to use the word "Droid" on their products). This is the problem. One is a robot fantasy, the other is a product.
  18. Yes Ralph, not aimed at anybody for asking these questions, we just see the same ones over and over. I agree with Drongle about the FAQ in the mesh intro, but also... There are two stickies in the Mesh forum now, UserGroup and MeshBlog, both basically useless to most, if not all, mesh creators. A sticky to the mesh FAQ, or even the mesh wiki, is obviously useless too, otherwise it would be there already. Hey?
  19. This exact same question is going to keep cropping up into the forseeable, distant future. May as well make a canned response to link to, even off-site if they won't sticky the important stuff.
  20. We would all like some one on one but realisticly, almost everyone is self taught. Apart from the people who have done formal training, which lonly costs one leg and half an arm here, self taught is the way to go. Fewer people have enough time to train someone else for cheap. Unless they love you. It's no good reading and just watching videos. One must DO the tutorials as they are being watched. A 2nd screen is a good investment allowing one to follow the vids while pausing for detail. It's really difficult following a vid tut that's badly made. Just don't use them. Use quality like as mentioned and the best are at Blender Cookie. Good luck.
