Jeanne I think a big plus for premium accounts is the level of support offered. I think having access to live help is one of the primary benefits of being premium, especially taking into account the performance of the current support ticket and AR systems.

We need lots of sub catagories too, to cater to the large variety of sluttish looking female avatars we have in SL.
  3. I get L$500 stipend per week and pay $72 US per year and claim the VAT back, I am not one for doing any of those big fancy sums, but I think I make a profit from remaining premium :matte-motes-sunglasses-1:
  4. Tier prices are too high. Tier prices are no longer sustainable. Comments like these seem to be appearing more frequently in posts on this forum. I would like to hear some tier decrease advocates explain how lowering tier could improve SL and the sustainability of LL. If Linden Labs cut tier they would loose profit. They would hope to generate growth by cutting tier, but this is a risky gamble. So what is the current perfect price for tier in this financial market? Where should the price breaks be? Lowest possible price tier for users = Growth for SL = ultimately more revenue for LL. If you were in charge of finance for SL how would you achieve this?

Afaik I think he' s referring to Multi User Dungeons ( networked textbased roleplaying adventures) here . Not sure if that' s actually a fact you wanted. That's exactly the the sort of thing I wanted. I'm not looking for a powerpoint presentation with a roadmap for all new developments. Quotes and tit-bits from the LIndens are all i expected. Cheers

Isn't what you are asking sort of like hearing someone mention that sometime next week they are going to look into something next week on a Sunday afternoon and Monday morning you ask if there's anything new on the front about what was said? If it were the middle of November or December, your question would be a little more legitamate, in my opinion. I disagree. Your analogy is far fetched. I'm not asking for a sample of a finished product am I? I am just seeking clarification on the comments Rod made in his blog. When Rod announced in Dec that the Lab were going to be working on non related SL projects, I would like to think that this had been discussed internally beforehand. I would like to think that in Dec, LL had some sort of plan on the drawing board for what they were going to be working on this year. I would like to think that some discussion has been had internally since then, even if no progress has been made on an end product. I would like to think that Rod himself had some vague idea in his brain of the products he was referring to in his blog post. There is knowledge to be had inside Linden Labs and I am simply asking if anyone can expand further on Rod's blog post. This forum used to be full of people who seem to able to lay their hands on insider info or had the ear of a Linden. HIstorically LL has been very leaky in the past. I asked for facts, maybe that was wrong. How about credibly sourced rumors. Failing that, how about some credible theories?
  9. It's been nearly 2 months since Rod announced "we will be launching some completely different products next year not related to Second Life. Some of them will be very experimental, but all will fit within our company’s proud history of enabling creativity, which I hope may interest some of you." So is anyone any the wiser? Have any facts come out since then? What are they up to?
  10. ,Deltango Vale wrote: Good points. And why did inworld search go to hell? Because of that damn 'adult' policy with its stupid V2 viewer. Inworld search went to hell because LL purchased a search engine that was not able to effectively index parcels in SL. When they rolled out GSA it was immediately obvious there was a problem as we were presented with non logical search results. Rather than adapting the search engine to accomodate SL they started removing factors that would not fit with the new search engine. It seemed to me like they were trying shove a square peg into a round hole. It just never worked. The only reason we have had any relevant search results over the past few years is either by luck or because people have been forced to game their parcels back into the top few pages on their respective keywords. Things have improved recently with the new search engine, things are allot easier and for the first time in years I felt like I was "optimising" my parcels to get to page one rather than "gaming". However it may be too littke tate as poeple have lost confidence in inworld search. As Rene mentioned as well, the search button isn't exactly prominant in the viewer nowadays and LL are focused on pushing the MP over inworld search.
  11. Cheeky little toe rag. If I wasn't so fat from eating biscuits all day I would come over there and kick your arse!
  12. Wagon Wheels were like the holy grail of the biscuit world when I was a nipper. 1 They were massive! Couldn't even dunk them unless you had a novelty giant mug. 2. They had buscuit in them 3. They had jam in them, 4 They had chocolate in them. A worthy candidate for the best biscuit ever I think. I bought some recently from the local spar. I am sure they got allot smaller.
  13. Deltango Vale wrote: I believe SLM has probably helped the inworld economy. Did half the population of California leave the state when online shopping arrived? Does every resident of Bermuda spend every waking moment running a store? I repeat, SL is not a game. Residents live in SL, they socialize, they dance and chat and go to the beach and make love. They don't spend every waking moment planning their next business move. SLM has helped the economy, it has helped stop it from collapsing due to the faliure of in-world search. If LL hadn't of purchased SLX and SL Boutique, then things would be allot worse for them right now, It is my belief that if we had an effective search engine in world that allowed people a fair chance of exposure to their business then there would not be anywhere near as much business funneled through the MP and the amount of land retained for commercial purposes would be allot greater. We could return to the days when people actually made an effort to build creative stores and shopping experiences, putting thought into how to best present their products and engage their customers rather than just relying on a bog standard uninspiring 2d website that is prone to delivery failures and overly delayed delivery times. Call me crazy, but I think selling 3D content in a 3D world is a thing to be embraced. Relying on a 2d website to sell 3D content, when there is a big old virtual world out there, cheapens the whole potential of SL. There is a place in SL for the MP, but it should be there to support in-world businesses IMO. It used to be that way and the only reason it is not now is because of the problems with in-world search that have persisted for years now. That is 100% LL's fault.
  14. I completely agree with this analysis. I can't believe that any employees at the company have not floated this opinion around the Lab, they must be aware of the impact this is having on the occupancy of commercial plots and regions in world. So what are they doing about it? They are ignoring the problem and bringing in Direct Delivery to make the marketplace more efficient Brilliant.
  15. Are there any 100% mesh regions out there yet? I've seen individual builds and plots but nothing done on a grand scale.
  16. Oh dear. Looks like I spent a little too long with Mary Jane last night resulting in a thread about biscuits. Sorry about that :matte-motes-nerdy:
  17. Yes, the death of Whitney has definitely made me take a good hard look at my own consumption habits. Namely biscuits obviously. Too soon?
  18. When I was a poor and humble student and couldn't afford to buy real chocolate Digestives, I used to buy Rich Tea biscuits then "borrow" some chocolate spread from the communal kitchen in the halls of residence. Just spread the chocolate spread on the Rich Tea and voila, you have yourself a home made chocolate biscuit. There is a free biscuit related tip for you all. I should definitely write a book about my vast biscuit knowledge. This time next year I could be a millionaire Rodders.
  19. So is she dead then? I thought she wasn't until the last line, but now I am confused,.
  20. Yes. the stupid illiterate spell checker tried to put a "Z" in it. I said to it "Not today Mr spell checker, not while i'm in charge" It didn't reply.

Yohan Roux wrote: Well I have had very bad experiences with biscuits and dunking, I seem to dunk to long and the dunked bit disappears, then I can't drink the tea cos its like drinking gravel, so I find biscuits very skittish things and should be left to those that don't mind drinking gravel. Some of us are just natural born dunkers. Others work for years without achieving the same level of skill. Maybe I should created a guide listing the biscuit type to dunk time ratio.. I think it would really help the amateur biscuit dunker improve their form. I'll get to work on that and will let you know when it is ready. I'll even let you have a copy for the special introductory price of only £19.99.

Guaranteed to get you through a cold day. You and your kind have taken the sacred word "biscuit" and sodomised it with your evil bastardisation of the english language. You shall speak no more of gravy here you vile creature. :smileymad:

  24. Yohan Roux wrote: As the post does not mention biscuit I assume it can mean anything, I love chilled milk, don't know why, but over any other drink even tea I would prefer chilled milk, biscuits are very bad for you, they are all fat and sugar. Milk is a biscuits friend, so milk based discussion will be allowed. Milk can be a good alternative dunking choice if you need to dunk a biscuit in a hurry and haven't got time for the kettle to boil. I had a pleaseant experience dunking some Maryland cookies in some milk in 2003. I won't forget that in a hurry I tell you. You are also wise to warn of the perils of biscuit eating. Everything in moderation. You only need to dunk a few., Don't go mental and eat the whole pack. You know what they say. Biscuits don't kill people. People kill people. Wise words.
