Why should i be disgruntled Mickey? .....I still possess all my land & commercial holdings in SL? Have you? :matte-motes-tongue: So you've learnt how to use Twitter, Faceboook, blogs and how to effect your obscure keywords on Google main search...and that makes you hip? I'm sorry, but I just have to chuckle a bit. I gave up some parcels, because after tracking landings, observed that a very large portion were not coming to the store to purchase, they were simply clicking away and buying. There is no reason to pay for excessive prim space when most do not go see! unless of course, your ego requires it. That's not failure - that's smart biz move. And it worked great. For the most part, they are not even inworld when they are purchasing. You don't track anything like that, so you don't have a clue what the buying behavior is. I'm sorry, but I cannot be one of the oldbies that is tied to endless amounts of costly prim usage, just to promote a 3D experience for Linden Lab and the other oldbies. And that has nothing to do with Freebies. eta: that should say "tracking NON-landings" as opposed to tracking "landings"

"Yes, I do have a "dog in the race"....I want commerce to return to the Grid. I signed up to a 3D Virtual World platform not to a 2D glorified Shopping site." then you are living in another year. 2010 perhaps. People use the marketplace for convenience to save time and to shop from their home or office in physical world. They do it all day long. If you cannot grasp that, from a change in numbers, then you are not using marketplace. Good luck trying to convince customers to give up that convenience. You can call me ignorant all day long, but when you keep posting that you don't have a clue what the numbers are on the marketplace.....one has to wonder.
  3. one more thing to note: they might send you the list of items that they did not receive, as a copy of their transaction list, that will reflect being paid....but this will change half an hour later, or an hour later, as they are being refunded. I was confused about this, the first few times and was just sending all the product, which is fine, a nice gesture, but you might not be able to do this all week long. Most do not know that they will get that refund from marketplace shortly, and they may not go back to their transaction list to see this, so you might suggest to them to wait for that half hour or hour to let it all pan out.
  4. Last weekend, I noticed a major increase in delivery failures for people loading the shopping cart. This has continued all week. I do not see an official announcement that this will be a problem while they slide into the Direct Delivery Zone. If they purchase more than 6 items, odds are they will not receive half of those. Your items might get delivered, but another store's may not. If all of those were from your own store, then you've got some work to do. On the report page, it will say "not available for redelivery" or something like that, and you will not be able to just click the redeliver button, when you get their IM that they are waiting on items. For me, there was no payment on those particular items. It seems that within about an hour, they will receive a refund for those that were not delivered. I've approached this several different ways. At first, so that they could receive the items in a timely fashion, I just went through their list and sent it all from the store. For a while, I was sending them as gifts, from the marketplace, so as not to keep going inworld all day, but consider that you are paying a commission on that. So I stopped doing that. Then, I would go inworld and deliver them from the store. However, if you do this, you will probably not get paid. If the item said "not available for redelivery" - they get a refund, and the payment does not reach you. This was fine a few times, just sending the items "on the house" to assure a happy experience. But if you do that all week, you're going to lose sales income, and that adds up to a tier payment or two. So now, what I'm doing is asking them to wait an hour for that refund, then trying to purchase the items separately, then checking in again with them. Have been going through the transaction list all day, looking for those who put more than one item into the shopping cart, then checking with them to make sure they received everything. Not sure if you have time for this, but you need to know, that half of the people responding back did not receive items from another store, and have not bothered to contact that store yet. So basically, I guess they just assume that they got taken or are not going to bother with it. Might not reflect well on the store. Most are unaware of the shopping cart dilemma. They keep loading that sucker up, which is awesome! That's what we want....but unfortunately I am seeing a glitch on every single shopping cart adventure. It might not be mine - but it might be yours. They may not be telling you and brushing it off. I don't see word anywhere here, where that particular problem is going to be amplified for X or XX number of days while they work on Direct Delivery. But it certainly has been amplified since last weekend.
  5. Josh Susanto wrote: >I was making a statement....and not any contemptious remark about Freebies. Micky was wondering why she could not see Freebies ...when she searches "Lime Green Glass" or other obscure search terms.....I only stated the obvious that you'll see the largest amount Freebies in the most popular sectors (furniture, skins, fashion, hair etc)......i doubt you'll see many freebies for say "Crystal Chandeliers" for example. There wasn't a single Freebie out of 379 entries....and only 6 Dollarbies. (4 of which were in the first 12 under "Relevance") Then what was the point of characterizing the items as largely copybotted; the very point of your passage I obviously mean to emphasize by cutting the thign down to one line? Josh - he doesn't even use marketplace. He said he doesn't even shop on marketplace. I was looking for "lime green glass" as a texture. Textures is a very popular category. I believe that the number was 150k He's just rambling and didn't even do any searches.
  6. You don't "have a dog in this race" because you don't even use marketplace. You have no clue what is going on, and are living in 2006, and disgruntled because whatever you were doing in 2006 is not working for you now.
  7. I doubt that writing more eloquently would help, and sorry, not a writer. People use SL for all different kinds of scenarios. You are proposing something that is handy for merchant and shopper, but would be applied across the board, and effect others. You're focused on one aspect. Continually suggesting that I or others do not want to communicate with shoppers is not necessary. If you can't grasp that people are doing other things in SL than what you are doing - no amount of words or eloquent speech will get that across.
  8. Thank you - that is awesome explanation. Was lost on LL page. Appreciate you taking the time to do that.
  9. Hi Monarchy - sorry you are having problems! As Clarissa suggested, try purchasing one at a time. Most of the failed deliver notices that I get each day as a merchant are from people who loaded the shopping cart. And sorry about that too! A full shopping cart should be encouraged! If you will check the merchant's profile - they generally tell you which method of communication that they prefer to use, IM or notecard or both is ok for some. Some prefer the IM, because they can respond directely from an email, and your message shows up in their email. Some prefer a notecard because all of the information is handy in their folder, with your name, and they have an entire record of the items and conversation all on one page, rather than having to hunt for a bunch of emails and messages. This morning I had one that had 6 or more failed deliveries in just one shopping cart batch, and she was very sweet to copy and paste those all on a notecard for quick reference, so that I could resend all of the products, and I doubt that rather long list would have fit into one IM. Thank you for your patience! eta: adding a bit about time frames - depending upon what volume a merchant is doing in sales, this could be an all day project for some. I worked the list this morning, and will go back and work it again here shortly, but it is taking a large amount of time to get it all corrected each day. Patience is appreciated
  10. when I'm doing business - I want the communication. if I feel like being a mermaid or a kittycat for a few hours..... no - I do not need all of that adventure clogging up my inboxes all day. Continually suggesting that as a merchant, I do not want communication, over and over again, in each thread.... not necessary. I'm simply suggesting the impression that I get from reading profiles all day long - and people are using SL in many different ways. Without respect for the ones who use it for an adventure or escape - then I have no customers, if you want to relate this to business only. but as an escape and adventure customer (at times) - - I would not want it.
  11. Perhaps you should drop the proposal into the General Discussion area for more support. Of course it would be good tool for merchants, but you are suggesting a tool that would be applied across the board, and you are getting mainly merchant feedback here. If not applied across the board, then it would hardly be effective for you. You can find some similarities there with the new social networking strategy. I'm not going to invest time in that, unless good portion of people are using it, and they are not. If it is opt-in or opt-out, again....messes with the effectiveness. But any time you add something like that, you sure better make it opt-in or opt-out. I don't have a clue if LL is intentionally not using it to protect and respect their customers who prefer escape and separation - if that's reason, then kudos to them. As someone who prefers a little bit of time in SL as an escape - I hope that they do not ever put it into action. You are discussing "mechanics" - I'm suggesting "concepts"
  12. ok, was just a suggestion. I've always taken my own laptops into the office, but work from home now. Even when using the office internet access, second life was never blocked. I understand the customer service angle. I've been loggin in all day long for a week to hand deliver failed deliveries, just spent another hour this morning doing that, and will go in at lunch time and do it again. If people do not have their messages sent to email, for some, there is a very good reason for that, and it involves escape and separation. Ya'll need to get out of your workshops more to understand that. I've obviously not done a very good job of explaining. I doubt that anything I add to that would clarify it further.
  13. Sounds like what you are describing that you need would be cured by using Metabolt. I used it for a while and it was great tool on a computer that did not provide the resources that I needed to log inworld and do some basic business. It will even let you send inventory. And it takes no more time to log into that, than it takes to log into a browser. It had some limitations for me, since when I log inworld, there are usually some requests there to go visit places. And I had to keep explaining that I was not able to tp around on that system. But sounds like you use SL mainly for business and not for networking and socializing. Would probably be good tool for you.

I will let you read to figure out why most SL Humans might want this. I read this: "I want a simple and universal RL access to any SL Avatar. The easiest way is for me to be able to SMTP Email the avatar @ secondlife.com" That kinda defeats the purpose of an escape. What do you mean by "SL Human?" as opposed to what? Where did you get the "most" concept? First of all ... IF this enhancement was available, you Mikey can enter into SL and escape all you want. You dont have to use the feature from the outside RL of sending and email to the inworld since you are already inworld. If you are not logged into SL and you find this feature is so crazy - the solution is easy - dont use it. Dont ever send an email into the SL grid to a specific Avatar. Secondly... if some other SL user wanted to IM you via this email sending IM solution, what would the difference be if it were me IMing you from inworld or me sending an email to Mickey.Vandeverre@secondlife.com that coverts it to an IM and you get my IM this way? At the end of the day you are still escaped inworld and got my IM. How did this disturb you any more or less during your "ESCAPE" into SL? So you are telling my when you are in SL , you shut off all other RL interfaces to you? Your PC's email is off? Your Skype, Yahoo, MSN, Facebook, Twitter services are all turned off in order to ensure your ESCAPE? Do you enter a dark room in your home and lock the door and instruct all others in your home to never enter your ZEN SL Room while you are ESCAPING? If so.... I am impressed you escape the RL to such a level. Most of the rest of us do not require an escape with such purity. My RL email is still running and if one shows up - EEEK - I even open it up and read it while in SL. My family yells and bugs me. I read twitter as I am in SL. I dont seem to need this escape to such an extreme as you. I am as shocked as Tara on the level of instant knee-jerk "sky is falling" theoretical "the sanctity of SL will be disturbed from the evils of RL" postings that has come out from this thread and concept. But Mikey - you and some other can rest your pretty lil heads since its an idea that Sassy siad is technically not feasible in the limited technical world of SL and even if it were possible you know very well that LL would never have developed a CUSTOMER IDEA anyway. I think there's a difference between sending an IM from inworld, and in having access all day long, as well as an assumption that you are available all day long, or it is acceptable to not respect that some just do not want the two venues/worlds meshed at all. It's different, because your time is limited inworld, and that reduces the amount of stuff that would come into an inbox. Opening that up to 24 hours a day.....you be the judge on that. To be fair, I get frustrated about it being so closed up, but a good portion of the people who seemed to benefit from it not being closed up seem to heading out. The folks I was talking to a year ago, that would have benefitted from the venue if it were NOT all closed up, well there's not much here for them anymore. But they still would not have been the "most" I don't think - that's up for debate. If I had to lay a wager on the table, I would wager that "most" want to separate worlds pretty distinctly. And that seems to be who they are marketing toward (at the moment - lord knows, we rarely have a clue on that particular plan) Look at the front page. I don't see any lure there for an educator or business man that needs a conference room. Or artist. Or musician. certainly not a retailer. It might be in a box at the bottom of the page, but that's not really a "lure." But even laying a wager like that is treading on thin ice, as people use it for entirely different reasons. Did you read the pages of concerns when they opened up the social networking system? How I "escape" or how another "escapes".....not really up to be analyzed here. Just consider the concept. Seems like you're judging a wee bit on that. Or maybe just being sarcastic. Still not clear on what this SL Human tag is, or the opposite of that, first time I saw that reference come up. "Most of the rest of us do not require an escape with such purity" I'm just not sure that the "most" needs to be added to that. It's Mickey with a "C"...not Mikey.

  16. "LL please develop an SL Grid email system to IM generation service so that anyone in RL can send an email to the resident's official name @ secondlife.com." Good lord, man...have you lost your mind? People come here to escape. Why would you need to be contacting anyone who has not already sent you a message? If I wanted to communicate with you all day long, then you would already have my email address.
  17. We've been asking for a long time, Barziban - hopefully this will make it to top of To-Do List once the Direct Delivery process is up and running smoothly. I was thinking about it this morning, so frustrating, have got three new lines just sitting there, and do not want to add them to the current store - for one reason, without store categories and ability to position your items, they would knock your best sellers or new items in one line, completely off the front pages. Considered again this morning, using some alts I created for each new store - but that's a bit of a logistical nightmare for a number of reasons, and I'm sure more reasons would come up through the process, but for one, you have an entirely different name to do business as, and that has a number of issues going along with. Also - probably some issues transferring items, permissions, building, etc....would have to watch that real close. And on your new line, you've got a creator name there, that is entirely different than the name of the person who built a business and ran it for years. That's a problem. Reputation - Customer Service - have to build that all over again Running two or more avatars - some people do not take kindly to that - and it would be problem to explain continually over and over again. Haven't thought about the lindens to account issues, but whole new record keeping thing going on there. Probably more issues there that aren't realized until you get going with a separate avatar. For merchandising and marketing - running a separate persona/avatar - even though it's not a separate persona, it might appear to be - maybe deceptive to some - - but it's huge fail on marketing and merchandising to have to create another avatar just to add a new line of merchandise. Sure hope they get this to the top of the next list.
  18. I was studying your business model last night, and I don't think that you have anything at all to worry about with freebies. You've got some aggressive "marketing" in place that seems to be working really good for top positioning. The model you are using is much better than mine, to retain the top spot for longevity. You've clearly gained an edge over competitors with it, concerning placement.... so you should have no problem with freebies. I like some healthy competition to light that fire in the belly, but if I were selling similar products to yours....I would be shakin' in boots. It looks like your highest priced products get the most reviews, so probably best to quit worrying about price and freebies and focus on selling more high end. Looks like that's your market from all the fabulous reviews. You've got all the bases covered, so not sure why you're having problems. But it's clearly not freebies.
  19. Madeliefste Oh wrote: Marina Ramer wrote: When you upload a new product wich I do almost everyday, it appears last last in last position of last page of that category. So thats why I mean, I have to pay an enhacement FORCED somehow , becausse if I dont, as I alreayd explained, people would have to pass trough a millon pages of freebies, dollarbies and ridiculous lower prices of less than$10 lets say (I call all freebies) to actually reach to see my product. So I am actually right now paying an ehacement for each new product I launch for epople to be able to find it. Still it would only be a temporary solution for the problem laying underneath. It might work in your benefit for let's say a year or so. You have to buy less enchancements and you can take more money out of the system. But when you are in the top 100 of the marketplace you are in the way for about 99,7 % of the merchants, who also want more visibility thus sales. We keep on producing and producing. Among those producers will always be people that charge prices that seem ridicilous to you. You just have to wait a while and the products between 11 and 20 linden will be so in your way that they will FORCE you to pay for enchacements to gain some visibility. I would say: profit from the current situation even if you have to buy enhancements for to being a top 100 seller. Without growth of SL it only stays as long as it lasts. I told her what to do with a specific item, took half an hour out of my day, gave away way more info than someone should, and offered to do it for her, to learn from. If a person passes that up, they do not want to be helped, they just want to blame someone else for not working hard enough. I'm not sure what you mean by being in the top 100 sellers? I must have missed that part, but do I understand correctly that Marina has a list somewhere and is saying she is on that list? Is that public? If it is, and that is correct, then that could explain a whole lot. A whole lot.
  20. Glad to see you starting your twitter Me explaining to you how to use twitter might be like someone trying to explain to me how to use Blender. There will be a gap! or the thought processes might not ever work right. I don't think I will ever have a Blender skill, no matter how much help. But might learn enough to make a dent. I can't really give tips on how to use it, since everyone is very different. I can't even give an example from SL, because everyone uses it in an entirely different way. I do not personally use it the "right" way on the SL account - I mainly like to chit chat there. Today, you got off to a great start - if you check tweetreach, you will see potential impressions there, as numbers, those are not entirely accurate as to eyeballs, but it's fair indication for comparison of where your message is going. just type your name in there to check - you had 6600 impressions a minute ago. You had several people retweet for you right off the bat - that just builds for you each day - it passes your name and info along. Keep that in mind for promotion - but also keep it mind for personal stuff too. Reciprocation is huge. My SL account doesn't work nearly as good as the others, because the SL population is not a huge retweeter for me. I have same problem communicating there, as I do in forum. You will do much better than I do on that. And you can't tweet off promotions all day long, That doesn't work for anyone really. I hope you have fun with it and I hope you see what I was talking about in action on your own stream
  21. hi Marina - I understand about the posting the new product and having it buried at bottom. That's a system fail in the marketplace that you have to figure out how to get around. They've not been accomodating us on that aspect. There are some Jiras that have asked for the ability to arrange your items on your own home store page, so that you may position your new item in whatever slot you choose. They actually gave us that ability a while back, for about 48 hours - one of the best sales days I've ever had - because I went in all day long and tweaked positioning. People do buy directly from your very first page, and do not use the "new" search or a keyword search on your own page all the time - it appeared that many were just purchasing whatever was on my first page that day. I don't think it was a fluke they were doing that - they were buying Christmas stuff at an odd time! So, to me, that totally proved, at least for 48 hours - that particular function is so important. But for some reason it did not work propery and they scrapped it, and we've not a heard a thing about it. You can work around it. All of that stuff that I mentioned to you, will get your new product on page one within about 48 hours if you work hard. That's exactly why you need to do all of that stuff. If it doesn't get product to page one, then I consider repackaging or repricing or trying something else. I don't recall ever repricing, though. I did the other night on something, just to experiment.
