[GUIDE] 10 tips to get the most out of web profiles!
Maxine Kohime commented on Torley Linden's blog entry in Tips and Tricks
Well, good to see that "friends permission" still are hidden in the single profiles, means we have to open every single profile to figure out who has which permissions! Thats really "fast, easy, fun"! But nice vid, as always, youre great with your tuts! wtg! I just miss the option to keep my profile how it was, somewhere someone of LL has said something about "choice"?! I cant find the choice here? I cant disable web profiles! Very much choice so, Ive to say. Btw, why we needed web based profiles? did the majority of us scream for? I cant remember, Ive to say, I could swear the most people wanted a lag and bug free SL instead of any web based profiles?! As far as I could see, hear in Sl, the blods and forums, the most people in Sl dont want any connection to twitter or FB with thier SL accounts, sure, its oki if you wanna let know the whole world that youre a funny one, in green and pink, wearing women clothes sometimes, please go ahead, but I cloud swear most residents never wanted to have a outting like this. Most residents I know came to secondlife cos they got promised to them, A SECOND LIFE! Not 1st life copy... Sorry, should I sound harsh, youre really a good one! And I hate myself to critise you, Torley, sorry. -

Viewer 2.5 with Web Profiles Has Arrived
Maxine Kohime commented on Q Linden's blog entry in Tools and Technology
dear residents, after seeing all what has happend in the last month with SL and LL, I would like to suggest to stop and postings here in blog and elswhere towards LL, because THEY GIVE A FRIGGIN SH.. ABOUT WHAT THIER CLIENTS WANT. The use us all to find the bugs in thier product, thats all. THEY NEVER TAKE ANY CARE ABOUT US IN AN OTHER WAY AS USING US TO GET THIER WAGES PAID BY US. For the rest we are just obstacles for them, which they try to overrun and to ignore, so, why do we all waste our time and engery here, its senseless. They will not listen and they will never take care. -

THANK YOU LL, FOR SOMETHING MAJORITY OF US DID NEVER WANT! Like: -webbased profiles, which need very long to load -a broken search -links to twitter and Facebook -a terrible UI Im sooo glad that we have you, should we have dudes leading which would really care for us, we would die immidiatly by the sudden warm and embracing feeling! So we have you, remind us that we are still in SL, despite of all your doings to chase us away^^ -

[QUICKTIP] Annoyed with incoming chat popups? Disable 'em!
Maxine Kohime commented on Torley Linden's blog entry in Tips and Tricks
@Ansariel Yes! I've shared many Resident suggestions in that vein. To this day, I still hear requests for a "minimalist UI" mode which would be well-suited for socializing, exploring, and examining content you've created without all the build and other windows in your face. For a more direct line about your suggestions, you can reach the "Snowstorm" Team through here. @Yanik Freedom of choice. Some people LOVE notifications, others HATE 'em. I can be a voracious chatter at times, other times I need peace and quiet to research inworld activity. Let me figure out that, please. You built a viewer, called it superior and intuitive, V2. Community was, well, shocked about how " superoir and intuitive" V2 really is, soo, you founded the Project Snowstorm, and as far I see we end with a snowstorm viewer, looking/working smiliar to the old preV2 viewers, just included the technical goodies? Would it have been not smarter to let the V1 series like it was, with just develop it further, instead of driving so many user towards the TPVs? I mean look at the search for example, the old search was working good, with V2 you offered a brandnew search, wich just is a real disaster? Is that real progress? -

It is really funny how many people complain about features they are actually able to change. I think that people arent really into "having choices" but instead they would prefeer that the viewer were just a window with SL world and all things made by huds you would need to buy. Seriously, there are no complain about a feature you cant change or disable. All you need to do about all problems listed is READ, LEARN and TRY. I like the official SL viewer because it is the only one I can really control what I see. If I wanted just a window with the view inworld and nothing else, I could have, which I couldnt using any other viewer. Not even using the hidden menus in these other viewers. Plus the reliability. With official viewer I have better graphics, faster motion and it is much less prone to crashes and freezes. But this last issue I know where the problem is: "Lesser viewers" have "lesser code" and can be used in computers not really configured to run SL properly. And I am not talking about only hardware configuration, I am talking about drivers and rubish software installed in your PC which trashes SL resources. Really, if you want to be heard by serious developers, you need to have a complaint that really deals with development issues. It is like to complain about your car because you think that it should move sideways otherwise it is impossible to park, not bothering to learn how to park a car that doesnt move sideways. I like when SL gets more features and possibilities and turn into a less a mindless plataform. Hope one day SL gets too versatile and too complicated that people not wanting to READ, LEARN and TRY just leave it. oki, i want to lean, show me where I can open more as one profile in V2, where I can open a profile and a group at same time, show me where I can combine all my IMs and the chat in only ONE clean window, show me how to get search working, show me where I can stop the toasts/ the pop ups, show me where I can switch on built in rader with tons of features, where I can access aear search, where I can do temporary textures uplaod and so on. If you can show me, how V2.2 can handle that, I will lean and use it. But if you dont can, shut up, telling V2.2 would be a pleasing product! -
Viewer 2.2 Available Today!
Maxine Kohime commented on Esbee Linden's blog entry in Tools and Technology
Well, tested and seen, its still not worth the time, the code maybe is better as 1.2xx but the user interface is still more worse as it was in V1. I hope soon the TPV can offer a viewer on V2 code, they know what users want. -
Viewer 2.2 Beta has Arrived!
Maxine Kohime commented on Esbee Linden's blog entry in Tools and Technology
I love the sidebar too. I have done a lot of building, terraforming while chatting in local and group. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Heck, I usually even have PhotoShop open on the other monitor. Also, on my computer V2 FAR outperforms V1. I found the whole interface great once I got used to it. I could never go back to the old V1 interface now, I'd miss too much. And it looks archaic compared to V2. I hope that LL doesn't read these forums too seriously as I doubt that they are an accurate representation of their userbase. I do think there are a lot of gripeboi types (opposite of fanboi) who get something out of getting on here and bashing LL anonomously though. LL knows how many people do use V2 daily, they knew it all the time. Now you know why they work hard on changing it, the people prefer other viewers, not V2. That means V2 is not really fast easy fun...its...well, not the choice of the people... And when LL now twists, squrims and runs, to make V2 attractive and usable, than you can recognise how they have failed with thier "superioir and intuitive" V2. -
Changes to Display Names Based on Your Feedback
Maxine Kohime commented on Jack.Linden's blog entry in Featured News
Well, Im not happy with that, our name was the only real thing which made us unique, all other things are copyable, like skin, shape and so on. Now you takes that away from us. Next is that many many people here did work hard to have a "good" name, but you did decide not to protect existing user names, that means, everybody is now a possible victim of griefing and impersonation and names, persons can get attacked and destroyed... Thank you for stealing the only thing we had to be unique. So I hope sim/land owners and estate managers will get the possibility to switch of "display names" for thier parcels. -

Maxine Kohime commented on Q Linden's blog entry in Tools and Technology
Well, to be honest, if you really plan to gain users back to use the LL viewer, than you will have to make options to change the UI. The V2 UI is what drives the most away, the sidebar is for many users a just terrible thing, its big, uncharming, all is pressed into, the functions are harder to use, and so on. My dad teached me, that "learning from the best" is always a great way to improve, so, look at the very successful TPVs, learn from them.
