  1. I just took a shot and purchased, and item was successfully delivered.  So either MP is back up or will be on/off for a bit.

Thing is, it delivered just like old times:  I bet I didn't count three seconds before I got it in my inbox.  Gotta luv that!!

been here even longer that have no knowledge or interest in scripting either.

*Raises hand*  Honestly,  I know enough about scripting to do no harm while getting some things done.  But when it comes to particles?   Time consuming piece-oh-poo to work with to get it just right:  I'd rather eat a spider than mess with.  Absolutely you can use a generator to produce one of a few or so generic quickie effects.  And they look great if it goes with one of the similar sized objects producing basic effects. But to really make something unique (beyond just changing the texture)?  One thing I'd throw good money at.

  3. *If that were the case, I can see a world where I thought it was worth it to pay an annual subscription fee to SL to ~not~ play.  :)

But this is thinking outside the box, and other great ideas can grow from this idea, and mighty oaks from little acorns grow I say.  Who knows what the next big thang will be, and who will decide it is a plus for them to play that way...

My vendor sales are way up and my Marketplace sales are down

Lucky me, I refer all to the MP from inworld.

And today, this. Retrying I get in, sure.  Like 1999.  But is the new expected norm today to get this or the Gateway thing routinely?  I suppose it now seems like it is.

  5. I came here to ask about repeated Gateway Timeout, and today some Bad Gateway responses, at MP yet again today.  These are included in my own frustration at ongoing MP and breaks, communication...

I cannot convince myself this is good for retention, or anything else.  The only result from this today so far is I didn't end up spending, because I cannot get to the pages.

It is Saturday, during a Pandemic.  No shocker, heavy traffic.

Is there anything connected to MP these days that adjusts to heavy traffic as it occurs?

if the person which flagged the listings didn't buy the download addresses, how could he/she know that the download location doesn't exist anymore?

Initial thought is that they were flagged because of some other reason.

*Thinking aloud* I haven't seen your ad of course, but my second thought is that the other reason may be notecard-only in the box.

In the past I have seen ads that said in the body of the text the box included notecards only (to a download url).  And at that moment in time as a shopper only I thought hmmmph, that seems frightfully close to no merchandise in the box perhaps TOS grey area hmmm... and of course I moved on.

One learns as a shopper pretty quick how fast download urls go bad or abandoned *its painful* even when buying from very big name very reliable producers of full perm stuff (several names come to mind as I type, God love 'em).  Admittedly as a human of several decades now online, its a huge job to keep up with all the websites one has dropped stuff into all over the place and download stashes online... I mean, could I actually recall (and keep up with) what I posted when I made that ages old Myspace page?? lol

Anywho... in my case as a shopper I would have never given any additional thought to flagging an ad for that reason.  But, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else might interpret *notecard/url only* as "no stuff in the box" if your ad text says there is only a notecard with url in the box.

*Conjecture:  Vast majority of those things I buy at MP these days that have URLs (most now) I suspect have found a way to remove this possibility, by including textures or other bits in the box with the notecard, so that some actual value for the Lindens spent is present in the box at purchase and value does not rely entirely on an external website that may/not actually be available to the buyer.

    Even the People tab

Yah even the people tab. Now my alts were there.  But no, couldn't find me two days ago even on the People tab (FS latest).  Today, two days later though when I rechecked, and I am there.  I try to presume its an anomaly but... cannot keep up with the list of yes/no working some days really, so I try not to look admittedly.  Who knows whether I will be there tomorrow... Good thing I know where I am lol

Firestorm, bring up the Search window and switch to the People tab -- that uses the legacy search, which is not broken.

2 hours ago, LittleMe Jewell said:

That may not help.  The People Websearch is pretty hosed right now, with many accounts not showing.  All 17 of my accounts have that button ticked, but only 3 or 4 of them are showing in the Websearch.  If I use the old legacy people search via Firestorm, they all show up.

Two days ago Firestorm was just as hosed - at least for my avi name.  Firestorm search, when I tried just that two days ago, did not find me at all.  I tried everything, ln, fn ln, fn, everything i could think of, all it found were lots of other Kyries, but none me or my stuff at all lol.  I've had that search thing yes-checked for years.  And rechecked that setting at the time, and yes it is on.  But my avi name isn't found anywhere.  Searched same as described above.  I didn't post, because I was hoping momentary issue.  My alts about the same age are all there as they should be.

Testing today, I am found in People search tab, but not in Web Search tab in Firestorm.  Who knows from one day to the next...

I'd not have even noticed though, as I often send Lindens to my alts but I find their IM quick via Friends list and Group members list :)

The death of Flash only affects things that actually use Flash.

The problem with that is that common folk really cannot tell which do and which don't use Flash. Recalling how much a pain in the bum I had with tvs getting them to work a few years back (was that the ppapi npapi thing?), I was sure hoping Flash didn't take my working tvs with it :)

  10. In terms of the Flash shutdown, my plans were that I would wait to manually tick the "uninstall" on the Adobe Flash pop-up until the last minute of the last hour of the last day, and then test my otherwise well-working TVs.  Which I did, I uninstalled using the pop-up.  But I ran out of time and only yesterday tested my TV's inworld, and though I expected them not to work, they did.

I just checked them again, and they do... I am watching my fav youtube ads (lol) now on my parcel in the sky, and on the ground.  I went to a second location, a rental, and rezzed a tv copy, and yes it works. There is google loading up.

I have no idea what this means, other than the fact that there is some way to (continue) playing at least some tvs, even after one uninstalls flash.  At least for now.

    Adding:  I use Firestorm

  11. I turn off all group notices/instant messages of all groups I join.  Methodic, no question.  Equal peeve about message cap notices, when I am on every day and they still get capped (because of all the notices) - so I turn it all off, always have, always will.  This has worked predictable in the past for years, it always takes, most of my groups are whittled down to those I frequent a lot so there isn't much change in groups...

Today I notice I have blue-dot/chiclets all across the top of my screen for
    Group IM discussions

     - to then check to find out that all 69 of my groups

now have Yes-Receive Group Instant Messages checked.

Whatever happened, it did not reset "Receive group notices" or "Show in my profile" - it only added a checkmark to the "Receive group instant messages" option to every single group I have.

Now I am opening all groups and resaving.

I recall no "group setting" were I as a user could "accidentally" reset all those myself in one/two clicks, or a user bulk-change... I could be wrong and if so correct me please if there is a setting like that, but...

    What new madness is this?

since that notifies me of any driver updates

These two software, Intel Driver and Support Assistant, and the Geforce Experience, have been a blessing for sure.  I recall a time when I wondered if Windows 10 would "allow" me to use their drivers instead of the Windows 10 forced drivers... but I've never missed an update on either within days of release.

the social implications. Once again, in the name of convenience and cost, we're turning over something we control as individuals to the faceless megacorporations.

Well worth being mindful of as things progress.

  14. The list is somewhat long now, but not sure your issue with opening Avatar>Marketplace Listings (where the pop-up doesn't open) is part of that list?  Perhaps I missed a forum report of it.  Sharing I just tried it in Firestorm, opening that, and my pop-up opened and populated as expected.  Good to be certain if your issue is included in the list.

Perhaps checking this, to rule it out:  https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/missing_windows

Adding:  New issue?  Delivery delays a given: I have consistently experienced, over three very different account avatars, for many days, across many different Marketplace purchases, significant delay (compared to pre-lift) in delivering purchased items from the Marketplace.  Before it was within 15 seconds or less like clockwork, over many years with very rare exceptions.  Now it is many minutes, regardless of region, always, and its so long waiting is just wasted time.  I am hoping this isn't the new norm.  It significantly slowed down my time, first waiting for demos, then wasting time and giving up it was such a delay on most days...  This could mean anything from they are fixing things on MP, to they are not, to just one more issue, to being the new norm.  If its the new norm, I will quickly lose interest in shopping.  And that's saying a lot.

  15. *rant apologies ahead of time - even the cheerleader has an exasperated moment now and again* really... not fun... i feel a bit dull now as i cannot keep telling myself it is my inagination...  annual premium has 363 more days to go... whatever it is it cannot be insurmountable so thinking to myself please do like Nike already... *

Bookoo issues, not resolved here, my alt this morning with only a 12k inventory kept getting logged out and errors even, errors both login and rez and and and... and now I am out of time for the day. This was not fun. Exhale. That is all.

Also, it's not saving some settings (ie you can tick "Don't show this again" when you're taking a TP or logging out, but it won't save it for next time you log in).

I have noticed this too.  Noting more frequent "region having trouble..." disconnects and such.  But if there is not now (or never was) any way possible to have a general public user on a never-cut-out internet connection because there is a list or reliances per viewer a mile long that can cut out at any second, then I find it difficult to blame the cloud.

Though I have asked myself out of curiosity, has Amazon built into things a way to clean up the bottom-line, by building in auto-disconnect triggers, by their own definition of user "inactivity", regardless of any setting of "never" in the viewers for timeout and away-logout-timer.

my connection to the sim doesn't affect my connection to the website. The music stream (which you can't hear) didn't stop either, but after I paused it myself I wasn't able to resume it.

Makes perfect sense thank you!  Thanks for checking!  It just never happened that I actually tried that before, and I thought the firestorm "pop-up" telling me to quit or check chat said similar to [check my internet connection] which to me mean disconnected from the internet was the cause.

38 minutes ago, Wulfie Reanimator said:

What actually happens is entirely dependent on how Firestorm programmers have defined that behavior.

Yes, no way to know that outside of that group.

    Thanks for sharing!!

  18. Hoping for some understanding of how/when viewers dis/connect to the internet.  Not a complaint or an issue, and Firestorm is mentioned only because that is the viewer I use and saw this in.

    Today:

    • So-when I am logged out unexpectedly using Firestorm viewer, we/I am asked if I want to view IM and CHAT first before quitting.  I usually say no what the hey right, and I log back in whatever.  Today I just happened to be typing in what I *thought* was a viewer-managed "browser" window in an avatar profile in the "Notes" section - you know the window: the browser that we cannot drag "outside" the viewer, when this surprise-disconnect of the FS viewer happened.  K so what I see when the viewer disconnects on me unexpectedly: The FS viewer top right X turns to a red background indicating (my words) a weak internet connection for 2-8 seconds or so > I see viewer visuals go generally grey-overcast like usual > I see tiny pop-up window offering to see IM and CHAT or just go straight to QUIT, and I still have that viewer-browser window open with half text still there but not yet saved... So I thought oh man do not make me type that again and in the profile in the viewer browser window I take my chances and click the [Save} button, and shock-of-shocks it works!      Works = after the FS viewer tells me I have disconnected, I can both view nearby chat and also type text entries into the profiles form box and click save on the web profiles page, over and over, and it saves successfully (on the live internet page).  I mean, either I am disconnected or I am not was my guess, but that seems not to be the case.  Surmise:  I am not "disconnected" from the internet "please check my connection" - I am instead disconnecting from something else in between... Noting that in this state I realize/cannot travel to another web page profile I can only edit in the one that was showing when the viewer froze/disconnected from something... but that still indicates something in the viewer is still very connected to the internet enough to allow me to edit and edit and resave again and again..   Not expected, but this is not my expertise, and I am now intrigued how the viewer can disconnect from the internet, but not disconnect the browser it seems to rule.  Adding if the Firestorm > Developer > Show Info > Show Time (fps) means anything, then fps is not the trigger for what cuts me out. Though I recall the ICK days of 20 fps average sighhhh, on this pc generally/today I am 100-140+ fps easy.  Until something triggers a surprise disconnect.

So after all that blah blah, the question:

If I am being disconnected from FS viewer=SL because I have lost a connection to the internet,

and the FS viewer internal browser window is controlled by the FS viewer,

then why would I be connected *in the internal browser* enough to keep typing and keep saving new info typed,

when the viewer managing the browser has said I have lost connection to the internet...

Is the viewer's internal browser managed by other-than-the-FS-viewer (so it has a stream of its own maybe, but the viewer graphics do not)?

Is the timeout span on the FS/SL/viewers shorter/cuts out quicker, than the separate stream/timeout on the internal viewer-managed browser and its contents (including my accessing the web-based profiles)?

Initial raw guess would lead me to ask - if I have edited the default viewer PORT in the viewer, would these two run across two ports and maybe one port is struggling when the other (internal browser) is not?

Grateful for anyone who might offer a short perspective, of why one could stay internet-connected enough to still edit/add text, but the viewer otherwise has frozen is not functioning and seems like it has already logged me out of SL.

  19. Yah see I thought I recalled the free body was never advertised as a demo, and at the time that meant to me take it as a freebie, count blessings, whatever doesn't work well you know the old saying, and if ya get more, well then yay for me :)))

So I just loaded the body up, used the shapes inside (small aint small to me though smiles).  Honestly all those skin tones included in the free are really super (compared to what I recall in the olden days were included in stuff - used to take me forever changing bodies!).

    So to OP @DarkEmperor13

This HUD suggests you can ROTATE THE BODY front, back, yes even the free body, from within the free HUD, and actually drag the areas you want to alpha out.  [[I thought whahhht?!]]

I suspect if I tested that it would not be quite that simple, I mean ya gotta read and try right, but it reads like the intent is that it should work just that way.  Course that doesn't help if you have e.g. a T-shirt with short sleeves that cut right into your arm...

but wow is that the only body with drag-alpha ability?  Call me duh, but I felt very taken care of with Slink all these years, and with full-BOM Slink Redux, of course I can make alphas and right-click ADD.  Grateful for that because I just grrrr when skin sticks through!  But drag and erase just seems like the ultimate dream if it works like that!

In the LiveHelp group just now (see MESHBODY website), I got detailed answers pretty quick, including it works in the free HUD too.  Of course, detailed answers given happily in chat help means when I asked I expected to received some documentation and take the time to read it... and I did, and I will, and it isn't even my body.  I remind myself that customer service folks don't write up documentation because they're having a good time doing it, its because it is cumbersome (and let's just call it prolly NOT entertainment time for them) to answer over and over very lengthy answers freehand to every customer that comes to chat. I get a lot more quick, detailed, happy, answers from sellers of high-end products by letting them know I will do my part (read) along side their responding to questions not answered in the documentation.

Recommend joining LiveChat second life group for answers:  https://my.secondlife.com/groups/8068d711-193b-9ce4-e91e-4caaac454163

You know, just my twenty-five-cents-worth of course, and test avi/he's still neh-kee in front of me so I haven't tried to find clothes to cover him up yet, but if even some very basic jeans and shirts are available that work, this free classic body (with an SL head), is a nice giftie.
