  1. Newbie as well (except for failed attempts years back) and I will repeat what's been said above ... make DEMO your mantra. Even with stores you are comfortable with (for me, a store like TRUTH Hair or COCO), always get demos and give them a try.
  2. Anyone know of any folks making BOM skin appliers for LOGO heads (specifically Willow) that have matching or included skin BOMs/appliers? (Newbie to the terminology, pardon my mistakes.) The few skins I have found for Willow do not seem to have matching body tones. Should I just suck it up and purchase a Letulka or the popular head that looks good on my Maitreay body and call it a day, since many of the the Catwa and Letulka heads have full skins to wear. Or am I lost again in newbie-land? Note: Reason I asking is I saw Strawberry Linden's video the she applied a head BOM to herself and her entire body changed as it was included in that BOM. Perfect skin tone matches between head and body. Loved it.
  3. Okay, thank you. I have just listed it for sale in the forums, and in world as well.
  4. Burying the Add button from 2.8 to 2.9 for modifiers drove me mental.
  5. https://places.secondlife.com/parcels/191946/canal-front-beach-parcel-1024m-32x32-square I am consolidating land with my partner and we no longer need two parcels on the mainland. This is a great parcel, ready to build on. Paid almost 7000L and willing to let it go for 4000. Thank you for looking!
  6. "Soon it will be possible for you to create auctions to sell mainland parcels you own (the parcel must be owned individually, not by a group)" Two years on and still no way to let s resident auction. Okay, I'll just put it up for sale instead then. Thanks!
  7. Followed all the instructions here ... But when get to that My Place page, there is no "Auction This Parcel button in the left column" (step 3). What am I missing?
  8. Sounds good. I have reduced my original 1024x1536 down to 638x1024 and will do some tests. Thanks so much. Still trying to solve the other issue though, and will report as I learn more.
  9. Okay, ty for the help so far and I have headed off and read the SL Knowledge forums about textures sizes. I'm still perplexed though about the whole "powers of two" thing. IRL, I usually work on panels and canvases that are not square. I can, but for this example let's use some common sizes. I might paint something on a 60x48" surface. 5ft x4ft. So a ratio of 5:4. In other cases I'll work on a surface that's 6ft x 4ft, aka 3:2 ratio. Sometimes a 4ft x 3ft (4:3) and often larger—my stuff goes up to 8ft x 6ft (again, that 4:3 ratio). That's how I work in physical media and tend to do the same with my digital painting as well, since the aspect ratios remain mentally and compositionally familiar to me. Yet SL, with the powers of two, does not seem to allow for any ratio except 1:1 or 1:2 or 1:4, always powers of two. 256x256 or 256x512 or 256x1024. Except for the square one, none of those ratio makes a decent surface to divide and compose on, I have found IRL. Square 1:1, perhaps, but if I'm offered a panel that's for example 3ft x 6ft (1:2) I find it's too narrow to work on. I need it to be 4x6 or 5x6. Which brings me back to my digital work. 4:3, for example, in the largest size texture SL accepts, is 1024 x 768. But 768 isn't on that powers of two list and does that mean if I create something 4:3 it'll distort down to 2:1 (1024 x 512)? Is there no way to stretch my texture back up to the 4:3 ratio within the world to mount it on a panel of that size?
  10. May have solved it ... my 2m x 3m textures are 1024 x 1536. Max allowed width/height is 1024. I'll fix them.
  11. Practicing getting my art onto nice birch panel "canvases" in my gallery. I have three decades of design so have no issues creating the art, working in 128px sizing increments (1024x1536, for example), getting good file sizes, etc. I have worked my way in building up to getting great birch texture I can use in my panels, building the panels (flat surface pieces plus 5 support pieces across the back, all linked after I add the art texture to the flat panel), etc. I have even figured out how to select only one face of the flat panel pieces to apply my art to, upload my art, etc. Here's the issue ... It looks good on the day I create it, but I will often come back to the space and find the panels solid grey, like the art and wood textures didn't "stick". What am I doing wrong? My newbie question for the day. Thanks!!!! PS. The gallery is in a skybox, but the sign on the ground I made has remained fixed (and looking fine) since I made it a week ago.
  12. They are! I bought the SLB A5 (blue one) and I can let anyone take over the helm and sail it. It's what drew me to the brand. Besides the gorgeous designs and superb!!! customer service. The guy who runs BBX is awesome.
  13. Two quick build questions, coming from a design world of Indesign/Illustrator/Sketch/Sketchup ... First, is there a way to step and repeat and object in build mode a specific distance? Example, a column. I have one column and I want to step and repeat that 7 more times each 3m apart from one another on one of the horizontal axis. Second, is there a way to evenly distribute objects? Example, I have created 8 columns that are in a line but are bunched together. I set the two "end point" columns where the need to be, the select all 8 and can click to evenly distribute them in terms of there spacing along an axis? Here are my columns originally, say ... * * * **** * ... I set the two end columns ... * * * **** * ... and then after my distribution they look like this ... * * * * * * * *. Thanks!
  14. Yes, fantastic demoes in fact. They have many of the models just floating to inspect, but at the empty end of their peir you can rez whatever boat you like to try and then get a 10 minute ride out onto the water to test.
  15. We are in the same, umm, boat as well. We bought one without realizing it can only be driven by the owner. Now we know to look for a boat that is owner/group/everyone friendly. Our issues is that many of the BBX powerboat type watercraft (and we do own a jet ski of theirs) are simply gorgeous, but are way bigger than what we ned. For comparison, we'd prefer something like this one in terms of size ... https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/VBM-Cobra-4-PG/18105612 ... but this one too seems to not mention owner/group/everyone so we're gonna get a demo first.
  16. Thank you! The default Phoenix setting does not show the Appearance button in the toolbar and for the life of me I could not find it. Hubby helped yesterday and pointed it out, and I was like *facepalm*!
  17. Today's newbie question ... in vanilla FS you could "Save as" an outfit (let's call it Dress A) to duplicate it, rename it (call the new one Dress B), and then make changes to what you were wearing and then select "Save" to lock those changes in. Voila! Two outfits now, different dresses. In the Phoenix UI, I do not see any way to save the new outfit. I can copy/paste one outfit folder to create a second different one, make changes, but where's the "save" function when I do? Or if I simply makes changes to the outfit Dress A, how do I save them in Phoenix? Thanks!
  18. Simple question for Maitreya Lara users ... in example outfit A, I wear a LBD with heels and one of the higher heel settings in the Maitreya HUD. Save. Now I make outfit B, say jeans and flats with a flat foot setting in the HUD and a nice cami. Save. I go back to outfit A and my heels are on fine but my feet are set to flat foot and I have to adjust my feet again? Is this how it's supposed to be, that the HUD settings for heels are not saved in the outfit? This (very very slowly) getting better newbie thanks you all again for your insights.
  19. Solved. My bad. First thing I checked was for an invisible object since I had been building a platform. Bingo. I will get this SL thing.
  20. My hover height is fine in stores, clubs, public areas, etc. But when I am on my own parcel I'm floating about 0.5m off the ground. Thoughts? Okay weirder? When I rezz an object on the ground? It's also floating off the terrain by that same amount.
  21. 1. Same. I did that at least twice though. Maybe three times. 2. This is where I am now. Doing much better? I am doing better. Still have those awkward, "What the hell?" moments. Ask me about deleting the bottom half of my house just last night. 3. Bringing a great relationship in with me, thankfully, and have friends who have been here a decade to guide us. 4. Premium? Dove right in. Starting the rest. Thanks for the thoughtful feedback!
