  1. Yup, I'm 100% BOM except for applier eyes (usually) and the occasional HD applier makeup (which works fine on top of a BOM skin).
  2. Ew Omega, no. BOM, bayyyybeeee! Just stick with BOM. Put on your body skin and then put on the face skin on top (just in case there's neck shading/blending).
  3. Nah, I didn't mean videos like that (the doll experiment). I mean videos where someone turned a camera on in a clothing store or a car dealership or restaurant or wherever to record someone getting harassed by store staff or another customer. Like, "in the moment as it's happening live" type things. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of those on there and TikTok - sometimes recorded by the customer in question, or by a bystander. As for Mexico, I have noooooo idea. Mexico City looked fairly diverse in the walkaround video I was watching, but I didn't really check much outside of that.
  4. Demo that one - it's pretty! As for advice - yeah, get off the MP, lol. I can't recommend skin shopping on there unless you're going for old gacha skins or discontinued items. It's just too clunky. Flickr is way, way better, if you don't want to shop in-world. Use "Catwa" or "HDPro" as a keyword and browse the photos, or flip over to the Group tab and see if you can find more targeted photo galleries. But honestly, I find the majority of my skins just browsing some well-known stores that sell skins in my preferred tone - Pumec, Moccino Beaute, Ives Beauty, ItGirls, Nuve, Bold & Beauty, Raonhausen, Tres Beau, etc. I grab demos from all over and try them on at home.
  5. I think I was around - definitely not as a poster but I was likely here reading. But yeah, I'm jealous of anyone who hasn't experienced that type of thing. It. Is. Exhausting. And hell, I'm a woman. Men get it way worse than we do. Oh and btw, you don't even need to point to studies. Just point to the numerous YouTube videos where it's all caught on camera.
  6. Yeah - I seem to remember another incident that happened with HermΓ¨s in Paris - if that's what she's talking about there. The problem with this kind of thing, and even talking about it in detail for some of us, is the stores are never going to outwardly say "yes, this is our policy, we totally did that, we'll do it again, in fact, so there!" It just doesn't work that way. The reason I believe it happened to her is because I've had it happen to me on numerous occasions. Not when trying to buy a $38,000 purse LMAO - I'm too poor for that mess. But just browsing in a lower-priced store - get followed. Browsing in a mid-range store - get followed. Browse in a higher-end store - reallllllly can't shake that sales clerk. And they don't make it obvious (well, to me it is, because I've seen it a million times) - they just start acting real slick and busy themselves folding clothes right next to you. But if you're really on your game to know to start watching - no clothes actually get folded, because if you move, they move to another display to keep up with you. It's exhausting honestly. Online shopping taking off was the best thing to ever happen in my life IMO. Looking for that article btw led me to a few others about some lawsuits against some other major designer brands - apparently their stores used code words to signal to employees to keep their eyes on black customers and got sued over it. I'm not even surprised. Strangely, I did not have that experience whatsoever when browsing in Harrods and Selfridges in London. I even tested it - reached out to poke at some Alexander McQueen shirts and the section I was in stayed empty. I assumed they were just watching on cam but honestly I did expect a whole bunch of frantic clothing folding to commence but...dead silence. πŸ˜‚ No for real - that type of thing never happened to me in the UK - even when I left the city to venture out into the Midlands or stayed a month in Scotland. Speaking of Scotland, the area I was staying in was so friendly, I had cashiers and sales clerks talking my ear off while ringing up purchases. Not saying that kind of thing can't happen there, of course. I've just personally never experienced it.
  7. Oh lordt. To that I say - Sure, Jan. Btw, the one thing I DO know about her is this incident, because it blew up when it happened. Granted, didn't happen in America, and it turned into a she said/she said so who even knows what really happened, but there are at least 20 celebrities with profiling stories (BET and some magazines have whole articles on that), so I guess wealth isn't the shield people think it is. - https://www.npr.org/sections/codeswitch/2013/08/10/210574193/why-didnt-the-store-just-let-oprah-buy-the-38-000-handbag I could've sworn that happened to another celebrity in NYC, too, but I can't find it. Forest Whitaker got frisked in a deli in NYC, but the one I'm (maybe mis)remembering involved a clothing or jewelry store or something. Yeah, you could go to the area with more expats and move around from there. Might be better to start off with a community that's full of people who have been through the moving process and can potentially assist with questions related to all that, for sure. Oh gosh yeah, if you're on a diet, avoid some of those street food videos, LOL. I could build a whole vacation itinerary on those alone. I actually watched a bunch last night after I mentioned them to you - I watched someone wander around Singapore at night in a thunderstorm, which was weirdly relaxing (empty streets for the most part and the rain sounded good). I also watched a few videos on Mexico City, Dubai's City Walk at night, Cairo, Mumbai street food, Buenos Aires, etc. All in 4k, no real talking usually - just someone taking a walk with their camera out. I love so much that these things exist - even for the smallest of travel questions like "what's good to wear in X in the summer?" - go watch someone walk around the city and you'll find out in no time, lol.
  8. Wait, what about her? I know next to nothing about Oprah honestly. If you have it drilled down to the city/town/neighborhood you want to live in, you could probably find videos on YouTube. I've done that before with India - watched a guy with a camera eat his way through an entire neighborhood over the course of a day. πŸ˜‚ Some restaurant owners were nice enough to let him into the kitchen to vlog their entire cooking process. But some videos are more general - neighborhood walks, exploring x, days out in the city, walking around x in the rain, tours through markets/bazaars, everyday life in x, etc. You can find almost anything for anywhere. When I'm really in veg-out mode, I might throw on some street food/food market videos around the world and watch people cooking and serving customers. Don't even ask - the sizzling is relaxing LOL. There are livestreams for this, too, so I can't be the only one who enjoys it.
  9. Real talk - What does someone even DO with a smartphone? πŸ˜‚ Those tiny screens make me rage so much. Mine hasn't been activated in months - I choose Discord over texting/calls, tablet for casual gaming, PC for real gaming, PC for YouTube, Twitch, social media, web browsing, literally everything. I guess if I had to be away from the desktop I'd use one more, but ... no, probably not. Those tiny screens!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. This would be my same concern to be honest. Especially since reading that article about how students' FAFSA data was unknowingly funneled over to Facebook via their online applications - whether they had accounts or not. Yeesh. I generally trust kids to do the right things and I do believe many do, but online privacy really is an issue.
  11. Oh yeahhhh, I forgot Travis Scott had an event in there, too. I still need to watch that one. And yeah I totally agree - Fortnite's userbase is freaking huge. The hype surrounding the competitive side kind of died down a little bit with some of the bigger players and streamers dipping out to try other games, but Fortnite does have a way of bringing people right back (Zero Build mode seems crazy popular and I know a lot of people returned for it). They definitely do know how to put on a show, too. Can't say I've seen those kinds of audio/visual experiences in any other game I've played.
  12. I wonder if I'm using an HDPro skin. I genuinely have no idea LOL. Lemme check. Please hold...I shall update this post when I get you the answer. *elevator music* Okay back! Yes, apparently I AM wearing an old Velour HDPro skin. Hop over to Nuve - see if you like what's in the VIP Group Gift area behind the counter. I don't think the group is free at the moment (sometimes it is), but I believe some of her gifts are HDPro. And also, peep that Flickr link I sent you for more options!
  13. My only tip might not work for you really, but I wear separate mesh ears because I'm a piercing fanatic. They come unrigged so you can position them where you want them. Pumec has some cheap ears on sale frequently for about 60L at their mainstore in-world, and Andore is another affordable option if you want something more dainty with less hardware.
  14. Remember when they told us listening to rock music was evil and heavy metal would make us degenerates? Come to think of it, man, my generation wasn't allowed to have ANY fun - Grunge is terrible, metal makes you worship the devil, video games make you violent, rap will eat your face, MTV will corrupt us all, Mortal Kombat needs banning, GTA 1 *really* needs banning, Parental Advisory - Explicit Lyrics (gee, thanks Prince! ❀️). Oh speaking of the Parental Advisory sticker era, I used to peel them off my tapes and CDs and stick em all over my mom's gospel collection. I like to think that we mostly turned out okay, though. On the smartphone/tablet/electronics angle, I think as long as things stay balanced, kids will be fine. My niece and nephew love their tablets and playing Minecraft and other games, but they also have school sports and activities going on. I didn't have phones or anything growing up, but we were all weighed down with pockets and handbags full of change for the pay phones (omg) scattered all over the place and expected to use them frequently (what a pain in the...). Social media is a whole other thing - I imagine that's a lot harder for parents to manage. Even worse that some phones come with those apps preinstalled (and on mine at least, you can't even uninstall the dang things!).
  15. LOL, sorry for taking over your thread with this btw, but...at least you can get a taste of some handy features while I work this out! πŸ˜‚ Speaking of which - have ya demoed your head yet?!?!
  16. Fornite really does seem like an odd choice to me for this kind of thing. BUT, I say that as someone who regularly watches competitive Fornite tournaments and has only ever personally played the battle royale version. I always, always, always forget a whole separate PvE game exists within it. In fact, hell, I always forget Fortnite Creative is a thing, too. I always just associate it with the E-sports world.
  17. Ahhhh, I do seem to remember some HUDs come with Left & Right options built in. That's handy! The majority of mine don't have that, though, and I'm mixing and matching from two different stores on top of it, so it gets a bit finicky. Here's what I was trying to accomplish. This is my Catwa HDPro with her base Catwa eyes that are built-in to the head. No separate mesh eyes at all. To accomplish this look, I do need my Catwa HUD open in addition (not shown now because lol what is screen space), and select the right eye button, click on one of the Madame Noirs, and then swap to the left eye in the Catwa HUD, and then apply the one of the Pumec options. So far, I've found I can do this same type of mix/match with any two brands I've got in my inventory (Gloom, AviGlam, Yoshi, Vain, etc.). Works perfectly. Now, when I try to replicate that same process with Lel, the right eye texture just overwrites when I select the left and I wind up with two white eyes. However, I *can* get a split eye effect when using the Lelutka HUD as one of the options, but *only* after first applying the white (which applies to both, despite only left being selected):
  18. Awwww, that's not nice. We had the occasional boy in class, but not very often. I always admired that, actually! I love a guy who can dance no matter what style it is. I think dance teaches you a LOT in general, especially when taken young. I just absolutely freaking hated how flexible ballet required you to be. I would've done a lot better in tap, which I really enjoyed in my intro combo class. Silly me chose the ballet route, though. Figured it'd help me be less of a klutz on my feet, lol. Nope not at all! As an adult, I've always been into belly dance and yoga as a main source of gentle exercise, but I've been so so so slacking on that front over the last few years (and all exercise in general - I need to get back to it).
  19. I took ballet classes as a kid. That's bringing back nightmares. πŸ˜‚ I quit after my first summer on pointe. I'll always be a combat boots/stompy boots kinda girl at heart, but I will toss on a pair of heels *on verrrry raaaaare occasion* if the situation calls for it (dressy flats are just not my jam at all). Once it ends in inevitable disaster, I'm back in my comfort zone.
  20. Oh man, sleeping in trees brings back memories. I had a big chonky tree I used to climb that had a perfect little spot to park my butt and would stay up there all the time. It wasn't high up at all - just a few feet, but enough to make me think I was actually going somewhere, lol. Not far enough that a fall would hurt. And I would sit up there and nap and relax. Read a bit. So cozy. Meanwhiiiile, flip a swing? I haven't even mastered high heels in the 27 years I've been trying to wear them. Flip a swing! You know how many times I've walked straight into my door frame, missing the wide open door? Flip a swing! πŸ˜‚
  21. I don't know why all these platforms opt for the colorful concert stage environment. Giving me those TiΓ«sto vibes. πŸ˜‚ He's got a good point about Fortnite emotes being limited, though, unless you've opened your wallet. That said, I'm not sure if you guys saw what Fortnite did in 2021 with the Ariana Grande Rift Tour Event (which is a LOT more impressive than whatever that static stage thing was that they did before). I don't know if I'd call this a metaversy-type event or what, but it was actually pretty interesting and looked like a lot of fun. The first 5 minutes is a fully interactive event with a few short activities you can participate in that ends with a big multiplayer boss fight. At around 5 minutes in, it becomes Ariana's show where you can still move around freely for the most part, but it's a more guided audio/visual experience and you're pushed along to follow her as it goes. At one point, you can change your perspective and position in the performance area by running through portals. It's pretty amazing, really. I did not experience it live, though. I knew the servers were going to be a nightmare, so I just watched the event on Twitch when it first launched.
  22. This forum needs an OMG reaction. I have never, ever, ever been able to do that! I'm waaaay too clumsy!
  23. For some people, the things lurking in the bushes are right outside our homes, too. I wouldn't even attempt walking around in daytime, let alone at 1am to get some groceries. Hell, sitting in the car too long at a stop sign is a risk on some streets in this crazy town. Couldn't even convince me to answer the doorbell, honestly. πŸ˜‚ There are never any guarantees of course, though, having numerous family members that have done a lot of moving and shifting around between various countries, I don't have any international relocation horror stories to tell beyond the occasional annoyance (and in my personal case, a minor college mishap). I do have plenty of horror stories about this neighborhood, town, county, and state, though. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
  24. You're supposed to land on your feet?!?! LOL this reminds me of a tweet I saw a few years ago where someone asked what our bodies would do today if we leaped off swings at max height like we did as kids. I don't even think I'd get enough momentum to get off the seat I'm so tired these days. πŸ˜„
  25. I remember when my gen got criticized for being too addicted to TV (we were the MTV generation after all). And too addicted to video games. And not going outside enough. Every gen gets complained about, really. I do think there's value to being exposed to both outdoor and indoor activities (whether that's through summer camp, glamping, school sports, rolling around in a river somewhere behind the house, trampling someone's flowerbed and having to replant it oops, etc.), but I do agree with you that getting a sense of a world outside of your own at an early age is more crucial in today's world. From what I've seen, it seems like kids still enjoy doing all of those things.
